The article focuses on emotivity as one of the classificatory parameters of the communicative ethos and conversational ethnolects. Emotivity analysed in sociopragmatic terms should not only be linked to the so-called emotional charge of enunciation or the verbal externalization of affective states. According to our approach, it is more similar to a ritual attribute of interaction that accentuates conversational involvement, which opposes the strategies focused on non-interference and distancing. As a form of participatory-type positioning in the interaction, emotivity would encompass different mechanisms and strategies of solidarity, linked, grosso modo, with the positive politeness model.

The present work describes the discursive use in order to characterize how to use the spatial deictic expression here (aquí) using oral samples collected in the city of Santiago de Cuba. Our interest is aimed at exposing not only how this is a specialized way to designate the region next to the issuer, but how it is also possible to use it in other contexts. The expressed pragmatic content turns its use into a phenomenon of great interest that reflects the relationship between language and context in the very structure of languages.

In this work we intend to analyse, mainly from a pragmatic approach, real examples obtained from the Corpus del español in order to determine with scientific value the features which characterize in context the discourse marker para empezar. Our intention is to identify if there is a frequent use of this marker as a structurer of the elements in enunciation, or if it is, on the contrary, a marker used mostly as a modal particle that expresses the attitude of the speaker. If so, we also seek to recognize which are its specific uses.

The present paper addresses the contrast between the definite article (el/la/los/las) and the indefinite article (un/a/os/as) from a cognitive approach that not only poses a single meaning for each kind of article, but also highlights the pragmatic (or contextual) aspects that underlie that meaning and establish the use of one form or another. The article’s meaning is shaped by the way we conceptualize the reference: the definite article implies an inclusive reference characterized by the uniqueness of the referent, while the indefinite article implies an exclusive reference characterized by the lack of uniqueness. The possibility to choose one or other way depends on contextual aspects related to the common knowledge shared by the interlocutors, the communicative context (linguistic and situational) and the space (physical or mental) where the referent is located.

This paper proposes the application of some of the analytical instruments developed in cognitive studies to poetic discourse as a preliminary step for a global treatment of poetry based on the principle of relevance. The lack of contributions of this type in the Hispanic field makes this exploration more important. This application has been structured according to the three levels of discourse analysis: the sentence level to which the principles of cognitive grammar are applied; the textual level, where the viability of the theory of textual worlds in poetry is shown; and the discursive level, where the problems of the poetic subject and the generic identity of poetry are reconsidered from a cognitive perspective.
