The quality of eggs derived from Polbar and Greenleg partridge hens - Polish conservative breeds 来自波兰保守品种Polbar和Greenleg鹧鸪母鸡的鸡蛋质量

The intensive breeding work has led to the globalisation of poultry production in terms of available commercial hybrids of laying hens. However, the indigenous breeds are still maintained in many countries, including Poland. The experimental aim was to characterise the eggs quality from two local, Polish hen breeds: Greenleg partridge (Gp) and Polbar (Pb). 4145 eggs were analyzed, at 33rd and 53rd week of age. Pb eggs were characterized by the bigger shell and yolk proportion, bigger albumen height, bigger and more intensively coloured yolk as well as better shell quality manifested in its significantly higher density and breaking strength. The Gp eggs quality is evidenced by a fatty acid profile, lower thrombogenic index, triglycerides and cholesterol concentration. The high quality of eggs, the cultural and ethical conditions, allow us to hope for a wider use of these genotypes in the production of high-quality eggs.

Relationship between selected quality characteristics and levels of water-soluble proteins in porcine longissimus muscle 猪最长肌所选品质特征与水溶性蛋白水平的关系

This study comprised 136 meat samples (m. longissimus lumborum) from 136 pork carcasses of six-month-old crossbred porkers derived from ♀ (Polish Large White×Polish Landrace)×♂ (Duroc×Pietrain), with an average carcass weight of 85.8 ± 8.5 kg, slaughtered on an industrial processing line. The pH1, pH24, pH48, WHC, colour parameters (L*, a*, b*), moisture content, crude protein, intramuscular fat, and water-soluble protein content were determined. Significantly high correlation coefficients between the proportion of water-soluble proteins in meat and crude protein and pH48, WHC, and lightness (L*) were recorded, with pH48 (measured in water extracts of meat) having the greatest effect on the proportion of water-soluble protein fractions in the meat and crude protein. In contrast, the basic chemical composition of the meat, i.e. moisture, crude protein, and intramuscular fat content, had no significant effect on the levels of water-soluble proteins. The results indicate that water-soluble proteins are a useful indicator of the quality of pork longissimus muscle.

Identification of single nucleotide polymorphism within bactencin-5 and bactencin-7 coding genes in association with milk production traits 与产奶性状相关的巴氏杆菌素-5和巴氏杆菌素-7编码基因单核苷酸多态性的鉴定

Bactencins belong to the bovine cathelicidin family of proteins, and their role in the body is significant. The study analyzed the relationship between polymorphisms within the CATHL2 and CATHL3 genes encoding the Bac-5 and Bac-7 proteins. The study included a herd of Polish Holstein-Friesian cows of the black-and-white breed. Tests were conducted using the PCR-RFLP method with the introduction of the ACRS modification. The study showed that different genetic variants within the polymorphisms studied were significantly associated with selected parameters of milk performance, such as milk yield (P ≤ 0.01), fat (P ≤ 0.01), protein (P ≤ 0.01 and P ≤ 0.05) and lactose (P ≤ 0.01 and P ≤ 0.05) content and somatic cell count (P ≤ 0.01 and P ≤ 0.05).

Proximate hair analysis in male and female dromedary and Bactrian camels 雄性和雌性单峰骆驼和双峰驼的近似毛发分析

The aim of this study was to analyze the diameter of hair fibers collected from camels kept in Poland, and to determine differences in fiber structure between camel sexes and species. Hair samples were collected for analysis from 28 adult camels divided into groups based on sex (18 females and 10 males) and species (18 dromedary camels and 10 Bactrian camels). The samples were collected in May–July 2020, at the level of the last rib. The diameter of 42,000 fibers was measured by the modified projection microscope method. The fibers were classified into three categories: non-medullated fibers, fibers with interrupted medulla and fibers with continuous medulla. The study demonstrated that the hair fibers of camels kept in Poland had a mean diameter of 20.23 µm. Non-medullated fibers had the smallest diameter (17.32 µm). The smallest significant (P ≤ 0.05) difference in fiber diameter between males and females was noted in non-medullated fibers. Mean fiber diameter was higher in males than in females, especially in guard hair. No differences in fiber medulla diameter were found between camel sexes or species. Hair from Bactrian camels was thinner, and the proportion of non-medullated fibers was more than 50% higher than in dromedaries.

Identification of mutations of selected genes causing retinal degeneration in the domestic cat (Felis catus) – in silico analysis 鉴定导致家猫视网膜变性的选定基因突变-计算机分析

Retinal degenerations are a series of genetically inherited diseases resulting in significant visual impairment and blindness. Among domestic cat breeds, there are degenerations of different courses associated with mutations in CEP290, CRX, AIPL1 and KIF3B genes. The aim of this study was to design diagnostic tests to identify the mutated alleles. The primers for PCR and restriction enzymes for PCR-RFLP were designed to detect mutations in genes. Mutation in the nucleotide sequence encoding AIPL1 protein causes a change in the protein structure, where a monomer is formed instead of a homodimer. Interactions of CEP290, CRX, AIPL1 and KIF3B proteins with other proteins that play a role in the proper functioning of the retina were observed. The occurring interactions between some of these proteins suggest a possible link between diseases caused by mutations of genes encoding these proteins. In other animal species, co-expression of the analyzed genes with other genes affecting retinal functions was noted.

Scientific and practical aspects of the use of pro-, pre- and synbiotics in the feeding of ruminants againts the background of research conducted in Ukraine 在乌克兰进行的研究背景下,在反刍动物饲养中使用前、前和合成抗生素的科学和实践方面

The review article provides up-to-date scientific information on the characteristics, classification and mechanisms of biological action of pro-, pre- and synbiotics in the digestive tract of ruminants. The literature sources of recent years on the influence of pro-, pre- and synbiotic supplements (when adding them to the diets of ruminants) on the metabolic processes in the body, intensity of growth, development and the quality of products obtained from domestic ruminant animals are systematized and analyzed. Emphasis is placed on the fact that the degree of metabolic and productive action of these diet supplements in ruminants is determined primarily by the qualitative composition, technology of production, method of storage and quantity added to fodder. It is noted that the main mechanism of pro-, pre- and synbiotics action when entering the digestive tract of ruminant animals is optimizing the composition of its microflora, strengthening the barrier functions of the rumen, reticulum, omasum, abomasum and intestine, as well as activation of interferon synthesis by blood leukocytes, stimulation of digestive functions and strengthening immune status. Also it is stated that the use of these fodder additives in the diet optimizes the quantitative and qualitative composition of the symbiotic microbiota of the digestive tract, has an immunostimulatory effect, activates metabolic processes and improves the productive qualities of ruminants.

The purpose of this work was to perform morphometric characteristics of the Tufted Duck Aythya fuligula obtained in Western Pomerania, according to their sex and age. The research material consisted of 197 Tufted Ducks obtained in December 2013. The biometric characteristics was performed on the basis of 20 measurements of linear and mass quantities. All internal organs measured and most of the individual body parts of the Tufted Duck were slightly larger in the case of males. Despite the differences in the body size of males and females, the studied birds showed similar variability in both length and mass. The differences between adult and young Tufted Ducks were not so well defined. Adult Tufted Ducks had significantly larger body mass, pectoral muscle mass and lung mass than juveniles. No significant differences were found in the linear values of the examined features.

Analysis of factors affecting the quality and length of life of dogs 影响犬类生活质量和寿命的因素分析

The dog is a diverse species both in terms of behavior, size and lifespan. There are many factors that affect the lifespan of dogs. This paper examines, among others, the effect of breed on the length and quality of a dog's life, the effect of owner and social environment on a dogs quality of life, the effect of utility on a dogs quality of life, and the effect of nutrition on a dog's length and quality of life. The size of a dog is a well-known factor affecting the length of its life. Purebred dogs are known to have higher health burdens and shorter life spans than non-breed dogs and inter-breed hybrids of the same size. The length and quality of life of dogs is also affected by the quality of the bond with the owner and the owner's awareness of preventive veterinary care. A stimulating environment, and proper nutrition taking into account the dogs specific breed or health requirements, are also important for the quality and length of canine life.

Nursing of mink in nest boxes insulated with different materials 不同材料保温水貂窝箱的护理

The aim of this study was to compare the rearing of mink in nests insulated with different materials. The study was conducted on a large-scale mink farm located in northwestern Poland. The results of rearing mink from 144 females of the pearl variety, aged one and two years, were analyzed. Four groups were created, taking into account the type of nest lining material and the age of the females. Two weeks prior to the scheduled birth, the nesting houses were lined with two types of insulating material - sawdust from deciduous trees and a mixture of barley straw and hay from meadow vegetation. Data were collected on: the number of born and live-born cubs per litter, the number of reared mink per litter, and the mortality of mink during the rearing period at the mothers. It was found that the material with which mink nests are insulated has an effect on the number of born, live-born and weaned mink. Better reproductive results were reported for females whose nests were insulated with barley straw mixed with meadow hay. They gave birth to larger litters, with more live mink, and raised more young. The mortality rate of young mink was lower in nests insulated with a mixture of straw and hay. The results showed that the use of sawdust as a nest insulating material is associated with a lower survival rate of reared mink. The study shows that the choice of a suitable nest insulating material can favorably affect the number of reared young mink.

Hyperuricosuria in the domestic dog (Canis lupus familiaris) 家犬高尿酸血症(Canis lupus familiaris)

Elevated plasma urate levels are associated with metabolic diseases such as hyperuricosuria. Long-term deposition of urea in the renal tubules can cause gout. Due to proper transport activity of GLUT9 (glucose transporter 9) protein, urate homeostasis in the body is maintained. GLUT9 is encoded by the SLC2A9 gene, which is expressed in the kidney and liver. The SLC2A9 c.616GG> T mutation results in a change in the amino acid sequences of the GLUT9 protein (p.Cys–188Phe, which in turn leads to hyperuricosuria. Molecular methods were used to identify the mutation in SLC2A9 gene. The occurrence of this mutation was found in many breeds of domestic dog (over 20), but the highest number of recessive homozygotes was recorded in the breeds: Dalmatian, Russian Black Terrier and English Bulldog.
