Based on the artist’s Marcel Duchamp understanding that the public connects the artistic work with the outer world and, in doing so, contributes to its incorporation into Art History, this text seeks to outline the chain in which this reception act is inscribed. For this, it uses analysis from different fields, namely, Art, Philosophy, Semiology, Sociology, and Cultural Mediation. Mobilizing the concepts of “open work”, “art coefficient”, “aesthetic regime”, “distinction”, and “documentary mediation”, it pursues to verify both the possibilities and the limitations of a type of chain whose universality is relativized by sociocultural and class incongruities, which make the influence exercised by spectators in the directions taken by art markedly unequal.

In order to better identify spatially the areas at risk of flooding for the riparian populations of Grand-Bassam during strong floods, a study aimed at developing hazard and vulnerability maps from RADAR Sentinel-1 and optical images Sentinel-2 has been put in place. The flood hazard study highlighted the flooded areas in Grand-Bassam. These areas represent 747.7 ha, or 1.02% of the total surface. The vulnerability map produced using the maximum likelihood method identified eight (8) land use classes. These are the classes Water, Dense forest, Secondary forest, Swamp forest, Industrial crops, Food crops, Habitats and bare soils. It made it possible to highlight the socio-economic interests of Grand-Bassam. The flood risk map developed from the intersection of the themes of the vulnerability map and that of the hazard has enabled the recognition of risk areas which are located near the source of the risk (Comoe River) and at low altitudes. These are Moossou, Petit Paris, Quartier Phare and Quartier France.

The article concentrates on showing elements present in culture, literature and art of the Middle Ages. These parts of mediaeval culture are discernible in Albrecht Dürer’s graphic The Sea Monster, also known as the Wonder of the Sea. It was created by late Gothic-Renaissance author living at the turning point of both artistic epochs. The article consists of a description of the copperplate engraving, discussion on the contexts present in literature and mediaeval sources, analogies of artistic motifs and symbolic contents, meanings of the title which was already mentioned by Dürer.

The reconstruction of St Maurice in Olomouc was one of the most important building projects in late medieval Moravia. Research assumes that the work began in 1415 and continued, with several interruptions, into the late 15th century. This paper wants to critically examine the dating of the choir as eastern part of the parish church parish church between 1453 and 1483/1492. It approaches the building enterprise with a detailed analysis of the stylistic, typological and archaeological findings and highlights the dynamics behind the outlined designs. Especially the ambitious and, for this region, unusual designs share far-reaching artistic connections with important centers such as Wrocław, Brno and Vienna. Therefore, this paper proposes that the project`s exceptional value is imbedded in Central Europe’s architectural history.

A number of authors have written about the history of the concept of style, one of the key formulating concepts of art history. Those deserving special mention here are Jan Białostocki (‘Styl’, in: BIAŁOSTOCKI, J.: Historia sztuki wśród nauk humanistycznych. Wrocław-Warszawa-Kraków-Gdańsk 1980, pp. 36-55), Willibald Sauerländer, (‘From Stilus to Style: Reflections on the Fate of a Notion’, in: Art History, 6, 1983, no. 3, pp. 253-270), Carlo Ginzburg, (‘Stil. Einschließung und Ausschließung’, in: GINZBURG, C.: Holzaugen. Über Nähe und Distanz. Berlin 1999, pp. 168-211), and Robert Suckale (‘Stilgeschichte’, in: Kunsthistorische Arbeitsblätter, 11, 2001, pp. 17-26). The present study is an attempt to map in greater detail the efforts of several generations of scholars to define style, starting with the ‘discovery’ of the history of style in the mid-eighteenth century and ending with the crisis that ensued after the end of the Second World War.

The medieval Franciscan monasteries of Bratislava (Slovakia) and Sopron (Hungary) are important representants of the Gothic architecture of the former Hungarian Kingdom. An extensive research executed between 2013 and 2017 has proven that the construction of their towers was closely related to the workshop of the Stephanskirche, Vienna; and that they are important milestones in the evolution of the Gothic spires, with significantly earlier construction date as it is widely accepted in the literature. This article is based on the corresponding parts of the author’s PhD thesis defended in 2017.1

Pasar Cimol Gedebage adalah tempat terbesar di kota Bandung yang menjual pakaian secondhand. Pasar Cimol Gedebage menjual berbagai model dan warna pada pakaian secondhand, biasanya berbahan katun, linen, dan sifon. Dilihat dari segi warna salah satunya pakaian secondhand berwarna putih yang sudah cacat seperti menguning atau terkena noda warna lain sulit dijual ataupun dijual dengan harga yang lebih murah. Oleh karena itu, peneliti melihat potensi diolah menjadi produk fashion baru layak pakai dan menjadikan konsep dengan style yang menarik, menggunakan teknik redesign dan teknik surface textile design yaitu batik tulis dengan pencelupan pewarna alami. Motif pada batik tulis yang diangkat salah satu batik dari Yogyakarta yaitu batik parang barong dan parang curigo. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dan pengumpulan data melalui studi literatur sebagai landasan dalam penelitian, observasi lapangan guna melihat ketersediaan bahan yang akan digunakan, wawancara secara acak kepada pedagang di Pasar Cimol Gedebage, dan eksplorasi guna mengetahui teknik yang optimal untuk diaplikasikan pada bahan baku yang akan diolah. Penelitian dilakukan untuk memberikan manfaat jangka umur produk dan agar tidak menambah dampak buruk bagi lingkungan dengan menggunakan teknik redesign pada pakaian secondhand berwarna putih, Selain itu juga untuk meningkatkan nilai fungsi, estetika, dan nilai ekonomi pada pakaian secondhand tersebut.

As duas pinturas de Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669) nas quais o artista holandes retrata licoes de anatomia em 1632 e 1656 revelam limitacoes que a leitura de uma obra de arte pode impor ao olhar contemporâneo se nos ativermos apenas ao universo de nossa subjetividade, ignorando o panorama historico no qual tais representacoes foram criadas. A partir dessa constatacao aparentemente obvia, o presente trabalho pretende apontar os parâmetros classicos que determinaram a longa tradicao das praticas anatomicas e alguns de seus desdobramentos contemporâneos, com especial enfoque nos trabalhos do polemico artista, ou seria melhor dizer, medico e anatomista alemao Gunther Von Hagens. Como no Atlas Mnemosyne, de Aby Warburg, a associacao de imagens estrutura o eixo das reflexoes.
