In professional circles, it often seems that the state of our urban environment and attitude towards the natural environment reflect a lack of attention devoted to educating all generations, and a lack of awareness raised on this topic. The picture of our settlements is actually a picture of ourselves. For this reason, and the desire to draw young people in and explain professional topics to them in an adequate and acceptable way, and to develop a love of the environment and awareness of the quality of life, several institutions and organizations have launched independent education programs. These programs and workshops are implemented partly voluntarily, or within activities related to specific events and projects and the regular activities of individual institutions, and they are designed as a supplement to educational programs in preschools, schools and universities. The paper analyzes known approaches, methods and techniques related to youth participation, shown through a selected review of the literature. Also cited are examples of several different educational workshops in some of Belgrade's professional institutions and organizations, based on architectural formatting, urban planning, the protection of built heritage and the preservation of ecological corridors. Based on the experiences acquired and the observed results, a series of recommendations are formed for the organization and implementation of this form of education. The aim of the research is to highlight the importance, possibilities and benefits of educating young people in terms of understanding and caring for the space that surrounds us, as well as others with whom we share that space. Participation in the creative process contributes to gathering observations, ideas, visions and expressing needs, with the possibility of their application.

The Lower Danube Basin boasts rich and quite diverse cultural heritage, which can be pivotal for the development of tourism and an important factor with regard to social and economic changes in Eastern Serbia. As a result of cultural heritage, numerous European and world capitals have invested effort in developing destinations and sites that promote cultural content and attractions. Cultural values and traits from different historical periods attract more and more tourists, thus increasing interest in cultural tourism. Cultural heritage adds value to the basic tourist content, greatly contributing to increased tourist traffic and the promotion of local communities, but also to the further development and improvement of tourist offers. When it comes to cultural tourism in the Lower Danube Basin, it must be stressed that there is no individual or common tourism development strategy in this area. This paper is aimed at presenting historical heritage as cultural potential for tourist valorisation, impacting the local, regional and national environment. Cultural heritage can play a decisive role in creating a cultural and tourist development policy in the area of the Lower Danube Basin, having in mind the method of managing cultural values and possibilities in order to harmonise them with other kinds of tourism. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the potential of cultural heritage, which would contribute to shaping the cultural and tourist identity of this area in both local and international tourist markets.

The paper will consider the design and conceptual decisions related to the design of Villa K in Senjak. The initial task was to design a single-family villa with all of the accompanying contents. The villa acquired specific features in relation to the project task, and is a contemporary interpretation of the various postulates of the modernist heritage, with a free plan, a roof terrace and a dominant spatial continuity between the interior and the exterior. Also considered here will be its dynamic, diverse and historical context. Special attention will be focused on the specific relationship between the exterior and interior, i.e. the simultaneous development of a concept involving an introverted approach to the street and an extroverted approach to the yard, that is, the south side. In this sense, particular attention will be given to the urban concept, but also to the functional organization and arrangement of the contents, architectural form and composition, as well as aspects of energy efficiency and construction. Subtle interventions on the villa's volumes and wall surfaces will also be analyzed, as well as specific perceptual transformations and ways of perceiving the architecture. In addition, the paper will give special attention to interventions in the interior, which are an inseparable part of the architectural concept. Thus, the interior arrangement is guided by the idea of providing maximum comfort to the users, followed by the design of certain elements in the space. Each of these aspects will clarify more deeply the main conceptual determinants, the positioning of the building on the plot, and the use of greenery in the exterior and interior, as well as other questions from the project determining the shape of the villa.

The subject of the research presented in this paper is the Belgrade opus of architect Janko Šafarik (1882-1949). The research is mainly based on primary sources preserved in the Historical Archives of Belgrade, the Belgrade City Museum, the Military Archives and the archives of the Technical University in Dresden. Although Šafarik and his architectural opus have not been completely presented in any previously published papers, a number of them contain important data related to his work, which is why they were considered in this research. The architect's biographical information is presented, followed by his Belgrade opus, which is chronologically divided into before and after World War One. Most attention is devoted to the most fruitful period of his activity, the 1930s. That is when Šafarik worked in the Technical Bureau - the Fenix Company, within which most of his projects were created. All projects attributed to Šafarik, confirmed by considering available archival material, are presented in this paper, regardless of whether they were carried out or not. Through their analysis, the conclusion was reached that Šafarik did not belong to a group of architects who were looking for their own unique architectural expression, or to those who were dominantly committed to one style, but rather that in his oeuvre, his approache varied, mostly in accordance with the dominant approach at the time each individual project was created.

Ranko Radović (1935-2005) was a prominent Serbian, Montenegrin and Yugoslavian architect, urban planner and designer, professor and architecture historian and theorist. This paper explores the architectural concepts and urban characteristics of the craft and service centers he designed, which were built in Belgrade (1968-1972), Šabac (1982) and Ljig (1988), as well as his architectural-urban planning research proposal for the reconstruction and revitalization of the old market and the area under the bastion of the fortress in Novi Pazar (1986-1987). In addition to his notable designs for the Sutjeska Battle Memorial House (Bosnia and Herzegovina), the town hall in Aranđelovac, the Partizanka hotel, a post office and a bank in Vrnjačka Banja, and the reconstruction of the Atelje 212 theater in Belgrade (Serbia), Radović's solutions for craft and service centers in Belgrade, Šabac and Ljig represent specific considerations of architecture and urbanity, in which the experiences of modernism, critical regionalism, and the influences of postmodernism are sublimated. He also produced a proposal, partly implemented, for the protection and revitalization of the old bazaar market in Novi Pazar, with a grouping of low-rise buildings for craft and service purposes and prefabricated-temporary structures based on the traditional scale. As a contribution to the study of Ranko Radović's work, these specific micro-urban structures are analyzed in the context of his theoretical views on contemporary architecture, urbanism and tradition, and the aim of the work is to illuminate and document Radović's contribution to the ideas of the development of modern architecture and cities in Serbia. Due to the architectural concepts and urbanistic values of craft-service centers expressed in the ideas of ephemerality and changeability, the paper provides an analytical overview and photo-documentation of their existing state, and the possibilities of their revitalization are discussed.

Ranko Radović (1935-2005) was one of the most prominent architects, urban planners and professors in Yugoslavia, and he had a significant impact on professional and scientific discussions on the planning and design of public spaces and public buildings. This is evident not only through his designs, but also through numerous publications and presentations. In addition to his well-known public buildings, such as the Museum at Tjentište in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Craft Center in Belgrade, the City Hall in Aranđelovac, and the Post Office, Hotel Partizanka and Bank in Vranjačka Banja, he also designed five single-family houses. Of the five houses, four have been built, however, so far, they have not been the focus of research or published in academic journals. This paper studies Ranko Radović's designs for single-family houses built in the period from 1975 to 1985 in Aranđelovac, Bačka Palanka and Sombor in Serbia. The significance of Radović's design for single-family houses is explored in the context of socialism, in which investors would choose designs for their houses from a "catalogue". This paper also explores Radović's designs in the context of his theoretical approaches on the relationship between traditional and contemporary architecture. The paper aims to shed light on his contribution to ideas regarding the development of modern housing in the 1970s and 1980s in Serbia. It also documents the importance of those projects for the history of the architecture of single-family housing in Serbia.

Along with the architecture, this presentation also discusses the development of the study program at the Faculty of Electronics in Niš, which directly influenced the design of its new annex. With the idea of enabling a more thorough education and a faster interconnection between science and entrepreneurship, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia invested in the construction of the Multi-Purpose Lamella at the Faculty of Electronics, University of Niš. The project was completed by the Teking Architecture Studio from Niš. The lamella is an extension of the existing building of the Faculty of Electronics, forming a coherent whole with it. The design concept of the building was developed by integrating a number of key influential determinants (program, place and time of construction), and it reflects and emphasizes the architecture of the original structure.

This paper points out the importance of assessing the cultural-historical and other ecosystem values of protected areas, on the example of applying protected areas benefit assessment tool (PA-BAT). This method has so far been applied in seven Dinaric Arc countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania and Serbia) in south-eastern Europe, as well as other countries of the world (Colombia, Turkey, Myanmar, USA and Ethiopia), with the aim of helping to gather information on the values and benefits of individual protected areas in relation to ecosystem services, using a participatory approach. On the example of the Djerdap National Park(in the Republic of Serbia), the results of the application of the PA-BAT method are given, that is, the results of the assessment of 22 ecosystem values with special reference to cultural and historical values as one of the ecosystem services of this protected area, as well as the results of previously conducted assessments of the ecosystem values of this area. The aim of this paper is to contribute to a better understanding and promotion of the application of the concept of ecosystem services in the preservation of culturalhistorical and other ecosystem values by applying PA-BAT evaluation methods.

The aim of this paper is to interpret the term Aquatecture in the design process for Zone 8 of Belgrade Linear Park, as a case study for understanding the concept and methodology used, as well as their application in operational architectural and urban practice. The paper describes the methodological procedure applied to structuring the space using water, with the aim of designing ambiences inspired by nature. This methodological experiment is illustrated with graphical representations of the process itself, in which the colors and shapes of water are analyzed through the observation of water droplets under the microscope. The research hypothesis is that one drop of water contains information important for architectural activities, and therefore the research offers a set of procedures and methods that can be applied and controlled through the creative act of coloring and shaping, or more precisely the creation of Spatial Images. The methodological procedure in the research can be described as poetic and artistic, at the same time containing a scientific element in the analysis and observation of the water sample under the microscope. All other visual perceptual observations and results in the interpretation of the observed environment and the water droplets, as well as their colors and shapes, are offered as extremely intuitive. The research is presented in the form of a Tableau consisting of seven parts and a set of photographs, drawings and images, as well as tone maps (color palette), according to which the results are applied through Spatial Images. Spatial images are interpreted as Ambience inspired by nature, at a specific location: Zone 8 of Belgrade Linear Park, as a case study for researching this methodological procedure. The data obtained in this way is applied in the structuring of the park's aquatecture and pavilions. The waterflows in the park itself are explained in the text, as well as the spatial structures such as the landscape fountain on the square and the main park pavilion itself, which is interpreted as a one-of-a-kind House of water. Therefore, as a product of the work, an environmental project inspired by nature is offered as the Aquatecture of Zone 8 in Belgrade Linear Park, illustrating the practical application of water as a methodological tool, and an inspiration in the processes of architectural design and water space structuring. In this way, the case study of the Conceptual Architectural and Urban Design of Zone 8 of the Linear Park in Belgrade offers new interpretations and understandings of Aquatecture in Belgrade in professional practice. More precisely, it re-examines ways of applying and understanding the concepts of the Blue Green Dream (BGD) and Nature Based Solutions (NBS) in shaping public spaces in the city.

The methodological procedure in the research can be described as poetic and artistic, at the same time containing a scientific element in the analysis and observation of the water sample under the microscope. All other visual perceptual observations and results in the interpretation of the observed environment and the water droplets, as well as their colors and shapes, are offered as extremely intuitive. The research is presented in the form of a Tableau consisting of seven parts and a set of photographs, drawings and images, as well as tone maps (color palette), according to which the results are applied through Spatial Images. Spatial images are interpreted as Ambience inspired by nature, at a specific location: Zone 8 of Belgrade Linear Park, as a case study for researching this methodological procedure. The data obtained in this way is applied in the structuring of the park's aquatecture and pavilions. The waterflows in the park itself are explained in the text, as well as the spatial structures such as the landscape fountain on the square and the main park pavilion itself, which is interpreted as a one-of-a-kind House of water. Therefore, as a product of the work, an environmental project inspired by nature is offered as the Aquatecture of Zone 8 in Belgrade Linear Park, illustrating the practical application of water as a methodological tool, and an inspiration in the processes of architectural design and water space structuring. In this way, the case study of the Conceptual Architectural and Urban Design of Zone 8 of the Linear Park in Belgrade offers new interpretations and understandings of Aquatecture in Belgrade in professional practice. More precisely, it re-examines ways of applying and understanding the concepts of the Blue Green Dream (BGD) and Nature Based Solutions (NBS) in shaping public spaces in the city.","PeriodicalId":31335,"journal":{"name":"Arhitektura i Urbanizam","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71203885","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
Micro-housing means living in substandard conditions, in housing units that are very small in size. Such apartments usually have only the most basic contents, such as rooms for rest, kitchens and bathrooms, and they do not meet all functionality aspects, because users consciously choose to forego certain living needs in order to live in a certain location or have lower maintenance costs. The research considers characteristic examples of micro-apartments and analyses reference literature, in order to extract design principles from extensive material, through which it is possible to achieve spatial comfort in apartments of minimal dimensions. The aim of the research is to consider and systematize the most important principles that can achieve a higher level of spatial comfort in substandard conditions for micro-housing. The paper examines the view that the lower limit of the range of microhousing is the personal experience of comfort and convenience in the living space, determined by how well it meets the users' physiological needs. According to the results of the research, in order to have minimum spatial comfort in an apartment, it is necessary to have a rest area (bed), with the possibility of using a common space for food preparation and personal hygiene, which lowers the default lower limit of interpreting the term "micro-housing".
