The text is inspired by S. Bernstein’s great contribution to Bulgarian dialectology and especially to the study of migrant Bulgarian dialects in the lands north of the Lower Danube. An analysis of two rare idioms from the Bulgarian language continuum with the keyword Danube with quantitative meaning of metaphors was made, based on the lexical resources of the Bulgarian language. Explanatory dictionaries, the etymological dictionary and the unique ideographic dictionary, in the preparation of which we participate, are excerpted.

The report constitutes a stylistic analysis of vocabulary of the “Lexicon of YU Mythology”. This edition, which is an encyclopedia of mass culture of former Yugoslavia, was published in Zagreb and Belgrade in 2004 at the same time. Despite the involvement of many authors in the publication, it seems that the book was written by a small group of close people. Its creators speak the same language, which shows its common social belonging, interests, age, worldview.

The article is an attempt to reconstruct the semantics of the Proto-Slavic word *k ъlkъ. The meanings of its descendants are analysed sequentially and each form is scrutinised in order to determine if it belongs to this word family. Basing on the conducted research, the author comes to the conclusion that the original semantics of *kъlkъ is ‘hip joint’.

Vynnychenko’s literary works became an object of science studies in 1910s, but there was an interruption in 1930–1990s because of the Soviet Union’s politics. From the beginning of perestroika the researchers of Vynnychenko’s works started again. The great majority of these studies examine the writer’s philosophy meanwhile not enough attention is paid to poetics and textology of Vynnychenko’s works.

The problem of changing the role of literature in the modern world is especially acute in the former socialist European countries, survived at the end of the twentieth century fundamental social and political changes. Slovenia, which gained sovereignty during the disintegration of the SFRY, is one of the typical examples. For a long time, Slovenian literature developed under the sign of the struggle for national independence, going through many severe trials along the way. The first decades of independence created the preconditions for qualitative changes within literature and led to the transformation of its role in public life.

This paper deals with the syntactic description of inchoative verbs of physiological state or emotion that denote a new state obtained by an experiencer argument, where the experiencer is expressed as a dative pronoun. Semantically, these verbs correspond to stative predicative constructions. Based on the analysis of corpus and dictionary data, we come to the conclusion that the inchoative verbs under discussion take three arguments — physiological state predicates assign an experiencer, a stimulus and a locative role, whereas predicates of emotion take an experiencer, a stimulus and an object of emotion. In addition, we present conclusions regarding the syntactic properties of each argument, as well as observations on the frequency of expression of the different arguments, where relevant.
