The Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia has had an impact on the current order of human life, so there must be a strengthening of the family by referring to the seven functions of the family. The problem in this study is that there is an influence of the COVID-19 pandemic situation on the order of family life, one of which is from family income, so this is important given the economic function in a family, and of course other family functions will also be affected. Tanjungpinang City is one of the cities that has a pluralistic society, this is certainly an interesting study considering that Tanjungpinang City, which is located on Bintan Island, is the capital of the Riau Archipelago Province. The purpose of this study was to see the strengthening of family functions during the COVID-19 pandemic in the Tanjungpinang Timur sub-district, Tanjungpinang City, Riau Islands. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive approach. The technique used to collect data is in-depth interviews and field observations. Informants were taken using a purposive sampling technique, where the informants to be interviewed were families who were directly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, such as family members who were laid off, affected by the business they were in and other problems in the family that arose during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results of this study are that there is a strengthening of family functions during the COVID-19 pandemic in Tanjungpinang City, especially for the research area, namely East Tanjungpinang sub-district.

The relocation of the national capital has been carried out by several countries for various reasons. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of the location of the nation’s capital city in East Kalimantan Province. The research was conducted in two regencies, 3 sub-districts, and 4 sub-districts. Penajam Paser Utara District includes Babulu and Sepaku Districts, while Kutai Kartanegara District includes Muara Jawa District. The data used in this study is secondary data from the study literature. The findings from the study are that in West Babulu Village there is a network of arterial roads and local roads. Pemaluan Village, Sepaku Village, and Teluk Dalam Village have a network of local roads and other roads. North Panajam Paser Regency has 3 watersheds and Kutai Kartanegara Regency has 2 watersheds in total there are 5 watersheds. Meeting water needs apart from river water can also be from dams. Offering the spirits in the ritual system of Northern Buddhism is a ritual performed daily for monks and an opportunity for Buddhists to participate in many different purposes. In it, there is an exchange between gain and loss while performing the ritual of offering the spirit. It could be said that based on the concepts and beliefs about ghosts and demons in Mong Son thi thuc - one of the important rites in the customs of Northern Buddhists - these rituals give us a deeper insight into the act of worshiping the souls. This research investigates the rational choice of Northern Buddhists in Ho Chi Minh City-based on Rational Choice Theory. Qualitative research methods such as fieldwork, in-depth interviews, qualitative analysis, and quantitative research by questionnaires have shown that there is rationality in the choice of worship the souls according to Mong Son thi thuc of Northern Buddhists among believers. In other words, there seems to be a desire to receive one or more benefits from this spirit offering. Rational Choice Theory has shown its applicability in the study of rituals, religions in particular, and in the research of the humanities and social sciences in general, which has received little attention in the past.

This study aims to analyze the interaction between ethnic groups and changes in the family structure of the Minangkabau, Javanese, and local ethnic groups in Bengkulu City. This research uses a qualitative approach with an analytical descriptive method. The results of the study explain that: First, the interaction pattern carried out by each ethnic Javanese, Minang and local ethnic is an associative interaction, where the interaction that arises is the self-awareness of each ethnicity of the importance of the meaning of life interacting without having to contradict even though different ethnicity or ethnicity they come from. In fact, in the local people's life, even though they live side by side with multi-ethnic groups, there has never been friction or inter-ethnic conflict. Second, in the Minang ethnic there is a trend to change the kinship system from matrilineal to bilateral kinship system, as result there is also a shift in the role of the powerful and responsible from uncle to father who is in charge and responsible for the family. Thirdly, in Javanese, no fundamental change finding, but the change lies only in the calling of everyone in the family.

People in West Java uphold harmony and peace as an important part of their worldview. Yet, violence against women continues to occur, including in rural areas. This qualitative research using a case study design was conducted to explore and describe the cases of violence against women and the factors contributing to the case in Desa Selaras, a small village in rural West Java. The data were collected through observation and in-depth interviews with female violence survivors and NGO activists who assist them; as well as archival and literature studies. The findings of this research suggest the various types of violence against women, such as psychological violence (polygamy), physical violence (persecution), economic violence (economic exploitation and financial neglect), and sexual violence. Among the factors contributing to the violence in the village were gender inequality, financial problems, lack of knowledge and passive attitudes towards violence among the survivors, cultural values about women, lack of communication in the family, and male personality.

Senjang is a Malay musical art found in the provinces of South Sumatra and Jambi. In South Sumatra, the existence of Senjang is well maintained. This condition is achieved by combining Senjang with modern musical instruments. On the other hand, Senjang in Jambi has been in decline since the 1990s. The artists have made various conservation efforts to no avail, and Senjang in Jambi remains under threat of extinction. This article aims to answer the question of why the efforts to preserve Senjang for more than 20 years have not succeeded in making Senjang popular in Jambi. Through qualitative research I found that the decline of senjang in Jambi was caused by changes in people's livelihoods that changed the pattern of work organization in agriculture; changes in interest in music; and changes in social customs. However, what is important to note is that the traditional cultural preservation program that was planned by the local government to build local cultural identity, which should support the preservation of Senjang, has turned out to be an obstacle to the preservation of Senjang. This is due to a misunderstanding about the preservation of traditional culture.

Kinship is essential for the Toba Batak tribe. To maintain kinship, good relations between those who live in the area of origin and those who live in the overseas (urban) areas are always maintained. This sound kinship brings traditions from the area of origin to the overseas area. One of the exciting traditions to study is the Bona Taon. This tradition has long been lost in the area of origin but is increasingly existent in urban areas. The Bona Taon tradition was lost because of the prohibition by the Dutch colonialists. This study examines the Bona Taon tradition of urban-plan models using globalization theory and hypersemiotic theory. The results show that the Bona Taon tradition carried out by the Batak tribe in urban areas aims to strengthen kinship relationships that are full of images. In practice, this tradition has changed from what was originally sacred to only entertainment.

This paper aims to analyze conflict resolution in South Buru during the regional election through a cultural approach. The conflict in the South Buru Regency was caused by dissatisfaction with the election results. This study uses qualitative tool analysis by choosing Nvivo as a computer assistant program to answer the question; the data in this study were sourced from direct observation and interviews during the conflict resolution process, and informants were selected based on the representation of each group. This analysis shows that the conflict in regional elections is caused by two dominant factors, namely the traditional doctrine of indigenous peoples. Meanwhile, the approach used in resolving regional election conflicts is an accommodation approach and a local wisdom approach. This study classifies that traditional communities in resolving conflicts tend to use a traditional approach, even though the category of conflict is not a cultural conflict. Exploring this conflict approach, Nvivo proves this by showing a correlation between the conflict approach and the conflict caused.

The purpose of this study is to find out what types of racism are experienced by TikTok users who have an account named @mingokwamkilama16. This research is to find out what racist words are expressed by TikTok users. Besides that, it also wants to find out what types of racism are happening. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach to analyze social media data, namely with NVivo 12Plus to analyze TikTok social media content and data. The data is taken from the TikTok account @mingokwamkilama16, consists of 5 contents, and gets data of 50 discriminatory comments. The results show that the Papuan tribe often experiences acts of racism when using social media, such as creating content on the Tiktok application, and creating an @mingokwamkilama16 account, which is often discriminated against by other Tiktok users. Of the three indicators studied, the most dominant is discrimination on race, which reaches 70% of the data. This shows that racial discrimination is prevalent, this attitude can make account users feel hurt, and many are physically disturbed. Papuan people are also part of Indonesia, but Indonesian people are also racist toward them. There are still many Tiktok users who lack education about Indonesian races.

Climate change could cause devastating impacts on Indonesia. The sea-level rise triggered by anthropogenic climate change, for example, will be affecting coastal infrastructure since Indonesia is ranked as the second country with the longest coastline in the world. Moreover, more than 100 million people (or about sixty percent of the total population in Indonesia) who live along Indonesia's coastline area would also be affected by sea-level rise. It is obviously clear the significance of social, cultural, political, and economic dimensions of climate change problems. Therefore, for anthropology, climate change should be one of the important research subjects that need our attention. And yet, anthropological study on climate change is still limited in Indonesia. My intention is to explore the theoretical approach that Indonesian anthropologists used to study climate change issues. Based on the number of existing studies, Indonesian scholars tend to use cultural ecology and cultural interpretation as the common theoretical approach in their study of the subject. Meanwhile, the critical anthropology perspective has been the least known perspective used by scholars in Indonesia. For this reason, my objective is to introduce political ecology as part of the critical anthropology approach as the theoretical option available in the study of climate change issues. Based on the literature study, I provide a brief introduction to the emergence of the political ecology approach in the study of human-environment interrelationship and how climate change problems were viewed from the political ecology perspective. The article also discusses possible research questions and issues that could be generated using the political ecology framework.
