This paper describes shortly about Mongolia, its higher education in current days, teaching during pandemic in Mongolia and evaluation of online master course at Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST). Mongolia is a developing country and the engineering education is one of the important issues of country development. There are comparatively high number of higher education institutions in country which proves need of families to support education of their children. The MUST is a public university which offers the most engineering study courses. The MUST offers bachelor, master and doctor programs in different fields. This paper covers teaching of master courses for “Industrial Management” professions at Graduate School of Business. Due to the pandemic situation the teaching format switched from traditional to fully online mode without any preparation time. Since winter semester of 2022 teaching format returned to face-to-face mode but it is still important to figure out feedback from students who attended master courses fully online during pandemic. Therefore, this paper describes evaluation model and evaluation results for the master course “Industrial Management”.

Lakes influence the regional atmosphere through modifying thermodynamic characteristics. This study examines the effects of the Baikal lake on meteorological parameters in summertime using the numerical model. Diurnal variations in the lakes’ impact on the atmosphere are found through changing the surface energy budget, which includes changes in sensible and latent heat fluxes. The changes in heat fluxes cause relatively lower surface temperature which leads to a shallow boundary layer over the lake surfaces. Greater heat capacity in water bodies compared to grasslands causes slower heating and cooling rates in the lakes. The amplitude of air temperature over the lake surfaces is smaller than that over the grasslands. Lakes promote diverging winds near the ground, furthermore, tend to stabilize the overlying atmosphere in the summertime.

While the pandemic has increased the use of e-learning in education, access varies by location. In order to determine what kind of policy support is needed to support e-learning in the future, it was found that the readiness of students for e-learning is at average level. The purpose of this study is the correlation between the e-learning readiness and technical skills, the ability to communicate with the teacher, the ability to communicate with colleagues, and the communication skills of our country's high school students using an international survey questionnaire. Research analysis were done using SPSS. According to the study results, the location of the schools, the age and gender of the students do not affect the e-learning readiness. However, the fact that the student has his own computer and has sufficient Internet access affects the readiness of e-learning. According to the correlation analysis, technical competence, communication competence with the teacher, communication competence with colleagues, and communication competence are positively related to each other. Also, a survey of students' e-readiness was taken from the teacher, and a discrepancy was observed between the students and the teachers.

The university library is one of the key places for students at higher education institutions. Some universities support their students with their literature search and research with humanoid robots. The Chemnitz University of Technology (CUT) is one of pioneer universities where a humanoid robot will assist at the university library. This paper describes user interface requirement and its programming, testing and implementation of humanoid robot at the university library. The programmed humanoid robot should support students and visitors with useful guidance and hints in finding materials they need for their research and study. For programming of the robot, the programming language Python was used and the implementation was tested with limited number of users due to the pandemic situation.

The engineering project course in the form of project-based learning at GMIT, Mongolia, is adapted from the engineering program at the Technical University of Darmstadt and has been implemented since 2014. The transition from traditional to online learning during COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the engineering education process. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the engineering project course is conducted online. The current study presents the analysis of questionnaire surveys done during COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 pandemics and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of online learning.

A fiber temperature sensor based on no core fiber-few mode fiber-no core fiber (NCF-FMF-NCF) is proposed. It consists of two segments of NCF and a segment of FMF, with the NCF fused at both ends of the FMF. Meanwhile, the lengths of the NCF and FMF were optimized by simulation simulations and experimental validation. The results show that the sensor has a high sensitivity to the external refractive index (RI) changes, and enables a wide range of ambient temperature measurement. A sensitivity of 0.09445nm/? was obtained in a temperature range of 25-70?. The sensor has the advantages of high stability, good linear fit and simple structure.

Digital learning is a comprehensive, innovative approach to the provision and management of education. In order to incorporate this approach into our education system, there is a need for the capacity building of human resources, incorporate distance education resources, adapt curricula and teaching methodologies to distance education, enhance students’ and instructors’ digital capacities, plan and develop a comprehensive open University system and diligently research the potential risks that are posed to our students’ and instructors’ wellbeing, privacy and security as a result of the digital transformation. Policies and programs such as Mongolia’s “Sustainable Development Goals”, “Vision 2050 – Mongolia’s long-term development policy”, “Digital Society medium-term program 2022-2027”, “2020 – 2024 Mongolian Government operational program”. “Medium-term Education Sector Development Plan” have established the legal environment for the incorporation of digital technologies into the education sector. As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic that has ravaged the world since 2019 a dire need to transform the development strategies, plans and education arose in countries across the world. Attempts to prevent and minimize the spread of Covid-19 further necessitated the development and conduct of online and hybrid classes and we have been using digital technologies to maximize the effectiveness of education in the New Normal. The purpose of this paper is to determine the issues facing the digital transformation of education in terms of management, organization, curriculum, content, methodology, digital competencies of specialists, infrastructure, online resources, as well as education financing and propose solutions to some of the key issues.

In recent years, there has been a growing trend to install solar panels on the roofs of buildings in Ulaanbaatar. These systems play an important role in improving the independence of electricity supply and reducing urban greenhouse gas emissions. Some roof surfaces in urban buildings are unsuitable for installing solar systems. This study assessed the suitability of solar energy resources and installing solar power systems on the roofs of buildings in urban areas. It also identifies factors affecting the roof that are suitable for installing a solar electrical system. The 15 kW system installed on the roof of the 8th building of the MUST was designed using PVsol software, and the results were developed. The solar energy level on the roof of the building is Ri = 0.78, indicating that it is a highly suitable roof for installing solar power systems.
