A new interpretation is given to the most complex theoretical problem – the relation of concepts relation – value – function. The relations in language are the relations reflected by thinking between the linguistic meanings, which in turn reflect the ‟substances” of reality comprehended by the mind. The term-concept of relation in linguistics includes a potential or already defined linguistic form of expression of the relation – the linguistic form has a meaning that manifests itself in speech as a function. The meaning represents the ‟sign content of the form” in the language system, turning into a categorical meaning that does not depend on the context, representing the invariant form of any syntactic structure. The function is realised in speech, being filled with connotative meanings, claiming to be expressed by new linguistic forms of varieties of categorical meaning.

The article analyzes the range of sources, functional features and mentality of regional production managers in the USSR in the 1960-1980s. The body of sources was based on oral history evidence obtained through focused interviews. Interviewing representatives of regional authorities in the 1960s-1980s. conducted personally by the author in 2016-2019. The source base of the study includes memoirs, unpublished archival material from the Center for Documentation of Contemporary History of the Yaroslavl Region. The theoretical basis of the publication is connected with the principle of historicism, the value and institutional approach to historical research, the use of oral history methods, source analysis, and content analysis. The article raises the question of the debatability of terms denoting the leaders of the Soviet economy. It is concluded that the direct management of production at the regional party level was carried out by the second secretary of the regional committee of the CPSU, branch secretaries, heads of departments. The opinion of the interviewed representative of the authorities is recorded that the management of production was under the joint control of 4 power structures: the management of the enterprise, the party committee, the trade union, the Komsomol. It is noted that the life values of the leading cadres of the regional level of power were closely connected with the communist ideology and official guidelines. Discipline, collectivism, responsibility were significant components of self-identification of representatives of the regional authorities. It is emphasized that informal connections were an important segment in the mentality of regional leaders of Soviet production

The article is devoted to the historical and legal features and origins of the formation of the state sovereignty of Donetsk People's Republic (hereinafter the DPR). The problem of the formation of the state sovereignty of the DPR is multifaceted and in many ways unique. Today, there is a shortage of special studies, and the available works are rather fragmentary, concentrating on certain aspects of the problem. Fundamentally important issues of methodological, theoretical and practical orientation are practically deprived of scientific attention. Based on the involvement of a set of documents of a political and legal nature, the author analysed the existing in 1917–1919 various state-political projects on the territory of the modern DPR. Analysing the historical and legal features and origins of the formation of the state sovereignty of the DPR, it seems appropriate appeal to historical and legal methods of research. The methodological guidelines are substantiated by the interdisciplinary nature of the issue, which allows comprehensively considering specific phenomena, taking a fresh look at the already established and interconnected facts and events in the region. It allows us to more accurately place legal assessments from the standpoint of the past state of its form, content and essence, as well as through the prism of modern understanding. The analysis of the materials allowed coming to a number of conclusions and making some generalisations. The purpose of the article is to attempt to analyse the historical and legal features and origins of the formation of the DPR state sovereignty based on the involvement of documents of a political and legal nature, affecting the period 1917–1919.

The purpose of this study is to analyse E.T.A. Hoffmann’s tradition in the 20th century German literature in terms of the novel ‟Perfume: The Story of a Murderer” by P. Süskind. The features of E.T.A. Hoffmann’s aesthetics are considered in the form of an ideological and thematic complex of images, motifs and stylistic techniques inherent in the work of E.T.A. Hoffmann (‟Hoffmann complex of German literature”), which manifests itself in a similar style (irony and grotesque), problems – the mechanization of human and society (realised through the opposition of ‟living” – ‟inanimate”, the motif of duality), understanding the nature of genius (antagonism of genius and philistine) and its relationship with femininity, the problem of violent influence on someone else's personality, as well as in the use of such an artistic technique as synesthesia.

In this article, the authors showed for the first time that this victory was achieved by the efforts of everyone: a front-line soldier. Kostromichi fought in all military units in the ranks from soldier to marshal. Among them: Marshals A.V. Vasilevsky and A.A. Novikov, Army General M.V. Malinin, Tank Forces Major General N.A. Novikov, etc. Two Kostroma residents were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for their exploits in this battle. For many who received the title of Hero later, the battle on the Volga became a school of combat experience. The article examines what role the workers of the Kostroma rear played in achieving victory, providing material, moral and psychological support to the fighters. It is emphasized that this support was mutual. It is also noted that even after the battle, the Kostroma residents continued to provide assistance to the liberated Stalingrad: they sent specialists to restore the city, building materials, food, livestock, etc. Results. The authors came to the unequivocal conclusion that only the unification of the forces of the front-line soldiers and comprehensive assistance from the rear could lead to victory both at Stalingrad and in the entire war.

Gotland is considered in many works as an important geographical point in the context of the ‟Varangian legend” of the Tale of Bygone Years. The obscurity of the general ethnic and geographical attribution of the Varangians, with the more obvious linking of the corresponding chronicle plots to an island in the Baltic Sea, the concentration on this island of evidence of its important role in the international trade of the Viking Age, the finds of Gotlandic artifacts in Eastern Europe make one see in Gotland, if not home, then significant stronghold of the Varangians. However, the origin of the most enigmatic ethnic group, perhaps, is connected with other regions and is rooted in the history of the late Roman Empire and the nomadic states of the Danube that arose on its ruins. Finds of coins, other artifacts, traditions in art and fortification, toponymy data show that the groups that migrated to the island largely adopted the cultural symbols of the Roman Empire. This fact is compared with genetic and other data showing that the migrants could differ from the indigenous Gutnish population of the island.

The author of the article focuses on the heteronymous lyrics of the great Portuguese poet F. Pessoa. The differences between the orthonymic and heteronymic lyrics of F. Pessoa are explained with the emergence of heteronymy in his poetry investigated. The author of the article reduces the heteronymy in the lyrics by F. Pessoa to the poems of Alberto Caeiro da Silva, Ricardo Reis and Álvaro de Campos and considers the main features of their lyrics. Along the way, the literary movements invented by F. Pessoa – paulism, intersectionism and sensationalism – are explored. It is concluded that heteronymy was the main means of artistic knowledge of the world in the works by F. Pessoa.

Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy presents a large-scale picture of the afterworld that draws on prior tradition of depicting life after death. At the same time, the afterworld of the Divine Comedy is unique, being marked by numerous distinctions with the many similar descriptions in medieval literature: 1. The general nature of the depiction; the summa genre with its striving for universal coverage, classification, scholarship (references to authorities, use of contemporary knowledge), and moral and didactic impact. 2. The close connection of the otherworld with the temporal world – precise description of its location and structure, its connection with the earthly space. The otherworld is inhabited by similar characters, who emphasise their connection with the earthly space (they ask about their friends and relatives and their native city, invite Dante to tell his own story, and beg for his prayers). 3. Personal approach: rather than being illustrations of virtue or sin, the work’s characters are concrete people with their own fates both in the temporal world and in the afterlife. This leads to a powerful dramatic effect that sweeps the reader away and involves him in situations that he applies to his own life. Dante himself plays a double role in the Divine Comedy as both author and character. 4. Combination of “literary” and mystic experience.

This article deals with the problem connected with variability of phraseological images in terms of idiomatic occasional transformations. Phraseological units with a zoonymic component from the thematic group "domestic animals" are chosen as the object of the research; it is the component that is substituted. Special attention is paid to identifying factors which affect transformational activity of phraseological units and determine specific features in image of a new occasional unit. We study probable occasional substitutions of zoonym components, taking into account a national and cultural role of animalistic components. While analysing, the authors define reasons affecting similarities and differences in the figurative bases of linguistic phraseological units and their transformations. We apply as examples phraseological units in the figurative basis of which both unique animalistic features and their typical traits are reflected; also the idiomatic image basis must capture human everyday life and domestic animals participating in it. Transformations of phraseological units demonstrate several peculiarities in reflecting realities of the surrounding world. New phraseological images in transforms may depict similarities with linguistic ones, providing presentation of the same or similar features in animal images applied as zoonym components. However, more often substitute components belong to animalistic words from different thematic groups, as well as to words from other phraseosemantic fields, namely people, objects, phenomena, states. A significant difference between the language component and the substitute component leads to complex transformations of image bases and to formation of unreal images. The authors come to the conclusion about vital changes in phraseological images, creation of new figurative foundations and movement of images towards unreality, fantasy.
