This study aims to examine the relationship between religion and altruism, namely the relationship between the religious attitudes of members of the Posko community and volunteers throughout the city of Surabaya in helping the community. Attitudes possessed by every human being must be different, not a few humans who have a voluntary attitude, are generous, like to help and have a human spirit. As a volunteer who helps in a particular service or organization without wanting or involving money in return for his work. The research method in this article uses a descriptive qualitative analysis approach. By using the literature, observation and interviews are the main components of the preparation of this research. With the attitude of religiosity, volunteers are increasingly convinced that what they are doing is good and God likes good things. Because it is a form of attention that someone has with the aim of increasing helping others without being selfish. Volunteer actions are closely related to religious elements and altruism as human nature, so the urge to take part in humanitarian action grows by itself. The results showed that there was a positive relationship between the religiosity and altruism of the posko community members and volunteers throughout the city of Surabaya in their contribution to helping the community, which means that the higher the religiosity the higher the human spirit, religiosity contributes effectively to the attitudes of community members.

The most tangible expression of religious ecology is through the veneration of nature. Diversity of procedure & approaches were designated as holy in different religions, and they are held in deep respect in honor of their assumed holiness. Many examples can be seen through the glimpse into the human civilization & history. The sacred journey is a religious act suggested for the specific spiritual cause, and it stand for a corridor to scrupulous holy sites. This research study will explore the status of Pilgrimage and the holiness of sacred places in their particular religious doctrine and practice using qualitative method. The research study will elaborate that some sacred journeys are difficult and require great obligation to complete. The purpose of research is to examine the sacred places are a bond to their followers because they have heartily association with them. The devotees have to offer sacrifice and sometime keeps fasting and travel bare-footed. It is also persuaded by the world religions to visit these sacred monuments. People visit and purified spiritually.

This paper examines the ideas and thoughts of Asghar Ali Engineer and Muhammad al-Ghazali, especially regarding the reconstruction of their tafsir methodology related to gender verses and the application and theoretical implications of the method they built. As fighters for liberation theology and fighters for women's rights, both figures try to defend women by interpreting al-Qur’an based on gender equality and trying to criticize the interpretation of classical scholars who are atomistic. This article is a comparative study based on the works of Asghar Ali Engineer and Muhammad al-Ghazali. At the same time, the approach taken is using descriptive-analytical. In this study, at least I found that Asghar Ali Engineer uses three essential methods: historical, sociological-anthropological, and philosophical. On the other hand, al-Ghazali uses a more traditionalist-progressive approach: Reading text and reality, contextualizing the meaning of the text further, and separating dynamic verses from static verses. Furthermore, applying feminist hermeneutics to the verses of al-Qur’an carried out by the two figures strongly opposes discrimination and injustice against women.

The Sanad of the Qur'an by memorizers of the Qur'an is considered as a guideline and legality (validity) in narrating the recitation of the Qur'an as well as part of efforts to maintain the purity of the Qur'an. There are so many memorizers of the Qur'an who have completed their memorization, but not many also have Qur'anic sanad with various causative factors. This sanad study was appointed as an important piece of information in the world of Al-Qur'an studies and even in the world of Al-Qur'an education. This research method is in the form of a literary method in the form of the original sanad of the owner by examining how the Al-Qur'an diploma method is used by memorizers of the Qur'an to get the Al-Qur'an isnad and how the transmission paths meet between the sanads they have. The results show that the ijaza method 'ardhan wa sam'an (depositing and listening to the teacher) occupies the highest degree, as does tahamul wal ada' with the same method' in hadith narration. Meanwhile, the path of transmission of the sanad al-Qur'an leads to the main qira'at priest, namely Imâm 'Âshim bin Abī Nujūd al-Kūfī, after the narration from the Prophet to a friend of r.hum.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the security challenge in contemporary Nigeria and to identify the lessons from the quranic story of Dhul Qarnayn as a model for addressing security issues in the country. This study is descriptive and qualitative. Selected examples of security issues in the Qurʾān and early Islam, the quranic references to security in sura 18:83-101 and its connection to security challenges in Nigeria were reviewed, to identify a practical approach for curtailing security challenges to promote national development. Results show that Islam as a comprehensive religion, directly and indirectly, recommends various approaches towards mopping away the insecurity. The paper emphasizes successful experience of Dhul-Qarnayn as depicted in Q.18:83-101 is a sufficient idea in tackling the defacing occurrences of maiming, kidnapping, carting away of public properties, illegal protest, and the like.

Artikel ini membahas tentang tafsir ayat wasathiyyah pada QS. Al-Baqarah [2]: 143 dari sejumlah mufassir baik klasik, modern, maupun kontemporer ditambah dengan pengkaji konsep wasathiyyah dalam Al-Quran. Interpretasi terhadap wasathiyyah tersebut kemudian dilihat implikasinya terhadap praktik moderasi beragama di Indonesia yang tengah disosialisasikan oleh sejumlah pihak. Moderasi beragama yang berbasis pada konsep wasathiyyah sebagaimana yang telah dijelaskan oleh sejumlah mufassir dan peneliti menunjukkan bahwa moderasi Qurani merujuk pada karakter adil, seimbang, setimbang, memilih yang terbaik, yang terindah, dan yang paling utama, memiliki posisi yang tinggi, konsistensi atau istiqamah, ketepatan, dan dengan karakter itu masyarakat muslim menjadi ummat teladan bagi masyarakat lainnya. Konsep moderasi beragama yang telah disosialisasikan di Indonesia telah mengandung berbagai karakter yang disebutkan oleh sejumlah mufassir dan pengkaji Al-Qur`an dan dapat diperkaya lagi dengan sejumlah karakter lainnya untuk lebih menyempurnakan dan melengkapi karakter-karakter wasathiyyah yang ada. Berbagai karakter wasathiyyah tersebut perlu disosialisasikan dan dibudayakan melalui berbagai saluran agar ia menjadi bagian dari tradisi beragama umat Islam di Indonesia.

This paper examines efforts to resolve conflicts over the establishment of houses of worship with a case study of the Methodist Church in Jambi City. This church has been sealed by the Jambi Mayor Government which is considered to have violated the regulations for the establishment of houses of worship in the Joint Regulation of the Minister of Religious Affairs and Minister of Home Affairs No. 8 and 9 of 2006. This paper uses field research methods with a sociological approach. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Then the data is analyzed through data reduction, data presentation and verification conclusions. The results of this study found that the conflict occurred due to rejection from residents around the Methodist Church, and the establishment of a Church that did not meet the applicable licensing requirements. The initial settlement efforts carried out by the Regional Government are security and supervision, then mediation is carried out between the two parties, in this case the mediators who play an active role are Lurah, Sub-district, Kemenag, Kesbangpol, and FKUB Jambi City. The conflict of the Methodist Church did not lead to violence, and took place safely, the settlement was also carried out through mediation through the government and participated in the contribution of Jambi customs and culture.

This paper will explain about ideology that often called "Karma". The use of the word "Karma" generally intended to illustrate things that are not good; karma is always associated with bad karma. In fact, karma is not only bad but also good karma. Aside from being a bad karma, karma concept also often identified as the sole cause of the incident. The word "Karma" is popular in the teachings of Hinduism and Buddhism. However, there is still a lot of misunderstanding about the word "Karma" itself defined by people. This research is motivated by the increasing number of divorces and cases of domestic violence in Indonesia. So this study aims to determine the quality of the hadith regarding gentleness in the household as a sign of goodness and understand its meaning with a psychological approach. This research uses a qualitative method with the type of literature study, the problems in this study are examined using a takhrij approach and the meaning of hadith within the scope of psychological discussion. The results obtained from this study are the first, the quality of the hadith about gentleness in the family is a sign of this goodness of valid quality (H.R Ahmad Number 24.427), this is illustrated by the results of takhrij conducted. Hadith sanad is continued and has fair and strong memorization of narrators, then the hadiths also do not conflict with the Qur'an, other traditions, reason, facts, and history. secondly, the meaning of this hadith when viewed from a psychological review is in line with the existing hadith, that gentleness is one of the characteristics of someone who has a meaningful personal life and this leads him to the gate of happiness. Thus, a gentle attitude both in the view of Islam and psychology is something that brings goodness and avoids a person from the negative impacts that occur due to communication that prioritizes the ego, especially in married relationships.

Belief, as part of human life, is part of the fundamental rights. However, the increasing number and variety of existing beliefs impact the emergence of standardized beliefs that deserve to be categorized as religion. This paper discusses how one of the original beliefs of the people of Kalimantan, namely kaharingan, cannot be considered a religion because various religious standards hamper it. This paper finds that standardization which begins with the notion of religion, according to EB Taylor, has an impact on a belief that must meet several conditions, such as belief in God, holy scriptures, carriers of religion or prophets, and others. The standardization impacts Kaharingan as a belief that can only be said as a "aliran kepercayaan," not a religion in Indonesia. The rise and fall of the relationship between local religion and the state that occurred during the New Order era and reforms were more or less influenced by this paradigm.
