The modern “Anti-Access/Area Denial” A2/AD systems are defined as a combination of all possible measures that can limit the ability of a potential opponent to enter and occupy a given area (operational theatre). Their action relies, among others, on radio-electronic disruption of digital guidance systems, communication, command and control systems, shooting down long-range maneuvering missiles, drones, and aircraft. The primary assumption of the anti-access concept is to deprive the enemy of the possibility of entering a given operational area (A2 – Anti-Access) through long-range destruction and depriving them of freedom of action in that theatre (AD – Area-Denial) by medium and short-range weapons. The Surface-to-Air Missiles (SAM), Anti-Ship Ballistic Missiles (ASBM), and Anti-Ship Manoeuvring Cruise Missile (ASCM) are used to carry out A2/AD tasks. Field artillery has also been used recently, particularly the Long-Range Precision Fires (LRPF). The purpose of the article is to determine the chance of using field artillery against the A2/AD systems. According to the authors, the NATO forces will lose control in the air in the first period of the conventional conflict with an equivalent opponent, and its rapid recovery will be a priority. Field artillery, as a weapon with ever greater possibilities of precise and deep destruction, can become a decisive factor, allowing dominance of A2/AD systems and enabling the implementation of tasks of its air-force and army aviation, as well as ground forces.

The study contains the most crucial information related to the functioning of Civil Defense, which, in accordance with international and national laws, is an instrument supporting civil authorities and rescue entities. The main goal of Civil Defense is to ensure security and the subsistence needs of the population during the war. An essential element is taking actions adequate to contemporary threats and the need to adopt legal and organizational regulations aimed at integrating all efforts to improve solutions in the field of civil protection.

The paper considers the problem of information credibility. Currently, such a problem is affecting scientists, as well as ordinary people who are dependent on information networks. Hence, the Author formulates three postulates that should be observed in dealing with the quality of information: P1 – identify the source of information, P2 – determine the level of credibility of the information source, P3 – recognize the purpose of information dissemination. The first two postulates are universal because they are applicable to all the users of information. The third becomes more and more important in the social and political choices of citizens. In scientific work, empirical facts are being transformed to empirical data (increasingly, to the form of big data) which are results of advanced registration and processing by means of technical and information science tools, such as: a) technical transforming the empirical signal into information; b) statistical selection of signals, and, next, statistical processing of the received data; c) assessment of results for suitability in applications. Other “epistemic” factors, however, are also involved, as: d) conceptual apparatus used for idealization (and then for interpretation), e) assessment of the results in terms of compliance with the epistemological (sometimes, also commercial or ideological) position. All these factors should be the subject of careful study of errology proposed by P. Homola.

The article addresses issues related to the civil system of democratic supervision and control over special services in Poland since the political transformation. The system is based on the supervision of the executive authority, which also sets the directions of activities, Parliamentary control – mainly with the help of the Committee for Special Services, judiciary supervision assessing their actions in terms of possible abuse of powers or failure to fulfill their obligations. The functionality of some legal solutions in the field of supervision and control over the services was assessed. The dominant role of the Prime Minister in exercising supervision over the special services was pointed out.

The aim of the article is to inform the reader of contemporary threats to state security resulting from the progressive digitalization and automation of subsequent areas of life. This article is an attempt to answer the most important questions asked by the author, including: How should we think about the domain of cyberspace in its entirety – war, peace, and everything in between? How can the government and the private sector be on the same page when they encounter and must generate solutions to cyberspace threats?

The article addresses road traffic safety. The issue constitutes a contemporary and fundamental social problem. That is because over 1.3 million people die on roads annually globally, while in Poland alone about 3,000 people. The article aims to discuss the factors influencing road safety, emphasizing the human factor and its complexity. A hypothesis was made that the efficiency and nature of cognitive processes affect human activity during road traffic. The method of analyzing the subject literature and the available statistical data and the method of synthesis were used to verify the formulated hypothesis. The text presents the characteristics of the most important cognitive processes and attempts to analyze their significance for the proper functioning of the person driving the vehicle. It is an issue that requires particular emphasis in the process of building road safety. Scientific research and social practice indicate that a significant proportion of road accidents result from inappropriate reception of stimuli from the environment and storage, transformation, and use of information, i.e., broadly understood disorders of cognitive processes.

The article presents scientific deliberations, including decision making in crises. Apart from the presentation of the decision-making process specificity, the scientific analysis confronts it with the research conducted on the group of 102 people responsible for crisis management at the local government level. The research results indicate a similar approach to the effectiveness and speed of decision-making. In contrast, dualism characterized the issues of information acquisition, flexibility in decision making, management of reserves in the form of forces and means to carry out the respondents’ tasks, and the need to inform the population about the possible consequences of a crisis. Despite the specifics of the decision-making process, most respondents (87%) believed that one person should decide but on the grounds of the decision-making process.

The article addresses the directions of management development in military libraries of higher education institutions in Poland. These changes are noticeable in such areas as information technology, interpersonal communication, spatial architecture, and library budget. The article also presents two most important and largest libraries in the Polish Armed Forces, namely the Library of the War Studies University and the Library of the Military University of Technology. It provides a brief historical outline of the mother universities of these libraries and the beginnings of their activities. Then, the essential modern solutions implemented there and have directly contributed to their development, are analyzed.
