Sociolinguistic Contrast between the North and the South of Algeria – Sociocultural Dynamics and Dialectal Variations, Case of Two Families from Adrar settled in Tlemcen
ABSTRACT: The Maghreb countries are known for their linguistic diversity due to ethnic mixing and the different waves of migration brought by Islamic conquests and colonial constraints. Today, each city and each region bears within them, to different degrees, the marks of this history which is rather combined in the plural. This contribution focuses on the correlation between social mobility and dialectal variety to justify certain phenomena such as transculturalism and bidialectism cause of phonetic distortions and semantic changes. An investigation is proposed to validate these phenomena.
RÉSUMÉ : Les pays du Maghreb sont connus pour leurs diversités linguistiques dues au brassage ethnique et aux différentes vagues migratoires apportées par les conquêtes islamiques et les invasions coloniales. Aujourd’hui, chaque ville et chaque région porte en elles, à des degrés différents, les marques de cette histoire qui se conjugue plutôt au pluriel. Cette contribution s’intéresse à la corrélation entre mobilité sociale et variété dialectale pour justifier certains phénomènes tels que la transculturation et le bidialectisme, causes de distorsions phonétiques et de changements sémantiques. Une enquête de terrain est proposée pour analyser et comprendre ces phénomènes

Rousseau between Persecutions and Misinterpretation ABSTRACT: Why do we write? To relieve oneself, to confess? To reveal yourself to others? To get out of your bubble or lock yourself in? To forget his world, his life, his reality? Certainly, but one can write to justify oneself and relieve oneself and such seems to be the case when one reads the autobiographical works of Jean-Jacques. Indeed, the writings of Rousseau have something special, in the sense that they are a long dissertation aimed at providing answers to the moral disqualifications of his person. From the Confessions, to the Reveries of the Solitary Walker and the Dialogues, Rousseau's books are the place of accusation, persecution of some and justification of the other. This article which is a critical study of the autobiographical works of Rousseau is to show that this author writes because his being is deformed by suppositions, his works misinterpreted and that finally his withdrawal into himself is only the logical consequence of the persecution men. RÉSUMÉ : Pourquoi écrit-on ? Pour se soulager, se confesser ? Pour se dévoiler aux autres ? Pour sortir de sa bulle ou s’y enfermer ? Pour oublier son monde, sa vie, sa réalité ? “American Cancer”: Henry de Montherlant and the United States ABSTRACT: If Henry de Montherlant's barbs at women have not gone unnoticed, less attention has been paid to all those he hurls at the United States. In both cases, the writer attacks a modernity that he considers harmful. Like his misogyny, his anti-Americanism is unoriginal in a society that fears being plagued by "American cancer" (Robert Aron and Arnaud Dandieu). Montherlant uses all the clichés of the time to make the United States a crude civilization, obsessed with efficiency and work, but unable to access the subtle pleasures of a refined culture. However, the pamphleteer vein of his work dried up quite quickly, as if the writer himself was aware of the limits of his indictment. Too caricatural probably, his criticism of the United States leaves room for a form of self-mockery. At the same time that he makes fun of the United States, the writer also makes fun of himself. RÉSUMÉ : Si les « piques » d’Henry de Montherlant contre les femmes ne sont pas passées inaperçues, on a été moins attentif à toutes celles qu’il lance contre les États-Unis. Dans l’un et l’autre cas, l’écrivain s’attaque à une modernité qu’il juge néfaste. Comme sa misogynie, son antiaméricanisme n’a rien d’original dans une société qui craint d’être gangrenée par le « cancer américain » (Robert Aron et Arnaud Dandieu). Monatherlant reprend tous les clichés de l’époque pour faire des États-Unis une civilisation grossière, obsédée par l’efficacité et le travail, mais incapable d’accéder aux plaisirs subtils d’une culture raffinée. Analysis with Iramuteq of the Discourse of the French Presidential Election Campaign 2022 Thematic and Rhetorical Analysis ABSTRACT: We attempt in this research to analyze the presidential campaign of 2022 in France through the study of the forms of expression of each candidate, as well as the themes. This analysis sets itself the objective of explaining the major themes that mark each speaker, of analyzing the debate on the individual markers and the rhetorical procedures deployed. To achieve this, the thematic approach to the analysis of textual data is required. It focuses on describing the themes that mark this electoral corpus and showing the vocabulary specific to each candidate. The interest in this methodological process is determined by the desire to study the relevance of political projects and linguistic phenomena. RÉSUMÉ : Le discours de campagne est un rituel politique incontournable. Il s’agit d’une typologie de discours qui relate les principaux projets et un univers discursif qui fait surgir les formules et les phrases qui caractérisent chaque candidat. La présente recherche tente d’appréhender et d’interpréter le sens de ce discours, les modalités et les thématiques qui structurent le discours électoral des présidentielles de 2022 en France à travers un traitement lexicométrique. La présente analyse se fixe comme objectif de repérer et d’analyser le vocabulaire de chaque candidat, ainsi que les processus rhétoriques déployés.

Arabic Literature and its Translation ABSTRACT: In comparison to technical language translation, literary translation is dominated by the syntagmatic, connotative means of expression, which are often distributed very differently in the source and target language context and give the translator a "creative redesign of an artistic statement" on the content and on the expression level of a text require. The linguistic form in literary texts not only has the function of conveying factual connections, but also an aesthetic and associative function; she is the bearer of the artistic creative will. The questions of this research are: In order to succeed in this artistic correspondence, does it depend on the translator's literary empathy? The Duty of Memory in the Light of Autobiography and History in L'Amour, la fantasia by Assia Djebar ABSTRACT: In L'Amour, la fantasia, the memory is declined from the compromising ordeals of the childhood and youth of Assia Djebar. Djebar's writing, which connects Algerian history and autobiography, is based on personal and collective memory, as well as on female subjectivity. If the "we" of the narrator traces a collective past in the form of various biographies, it is individualized to report the memories of the author. It is through the presence of women-witnesses, their anonymous voices and their stories that their creator writes the story of her life. This plural writing in French language calls upon the Berber and Arabic language to reconstruct a new identity. RÉSUMÉ : Dans L’Amour, la fantasia, la mémoire est déclinée à partir des épreuves compromettantes de l’enfance et de la jeunesse d’Assia Djebar. L’écriture djebarienne, qui relie l’Histoire de l’Algérie et l’autobiographie, s’appuie sur la mémoire personnelle et collective, ainsi que sur la subjectivité féminine. Djebar's writing, which connects Algerian history and autobiography, is based on personal and collective memory, as well as on female subjectivity. If the \"we\" of the narrator traces a collective past in the form of various biographies, it is individualized to report the memories of the author. It is through the presence of women-witnesses, their anonymous voices and their stories that their creator writes the story of her life. The paper examines body parts idioms as politeness strategy in Nzema communication. Figurative devices such as proverbs and euphemisms have received quite an appreciable amount of study in connection with verbal politeness in Nzema. Little or no attention however has been given to idioms, particularly their communicative functions in the language. This paper seeks to discuss the communicative functions of some body parts related idioms in Nzema with special focus on idiomatic expressions involving the limbs, the body/skin, the heart/chest and the stomach that are used in daily discourse. The analysis is based on primary data obtained through participant and non-participant observation. The data comprise audio recordings of traditional arbitration and everyday conversations among the Nzema. The paper demonstrates that, these culturally constructed body parts related idioms are deliberately employed to avoid any straightforward language that seeks to undermine and threaten the face of an addressee and also serve as politeness device for the speaker. The paper draws on Brown and Levinson’s politeness theory.

Coursebook design is becoming more and more important in the teaching of ESP in Algeria. In fact, the teaching of scientific and technical English has become demanded at university and in private schools, which has rendered the need for coursebooks and their design pressing. Many researches and projects have been undertaken in this sense to help this kind of literature to spread and to become available for both teachers, students and professionals. In parallel, professional development has become one of the most discussed topics, in particular, in relation to the teaching field. Hence, this paper, which is a modest contribution in the development of coursebook design in ESP, aims at discussing the characteristics of professional development and the possibility of their insertion and application in ESP coursebook design.

Some Linguistic Aspects of Horoscope Statements ABSTRACT: How does the wording horoscopes work linguistically? This is the central issue and the common thread that structure this article. Divinatory discourse and advice, the horoscope is now comfortably installed in the corpus of our daily readings, as it appears almost systematically in several national and international media, in particular on the radio, on the net, in the written press… This article studies the grammatical and discursive linguistic characteristics of astrological discourse through the productions three Senegalese daily newspapers which served as an analytical support for our work. Those are Le Soleil, L’Observateur and Enquête. RÉSUMÉ : Comment fonctionne l’énoncé horoscopique du point de vue linguistique ? Telle est la problématique centrale et le fil conducteur qui structurent cet article. Discours divinatoire et de conseils, l’horoscope s’est désormais confortablement installé dans le corpus de nos lectures quotidiennes, car paraissant presque systématiquement dans les médias nationaux et internationaux, notamment à la radio, sur le net, dans la presse écrite… Cet article étudie les caractéristiques linguistiques, grammaticales et discursives du langage astrologique à travers les productions de trois quotidiens sénégalais qui nous ont servi de support d’analyse. «Une espèce de sanctuaire»: Paul Claudel and the meeting with Japan in L’oiseau noir dans Soleil Levant ABSTRACT: This article wants to investigate the relationship between Paul Claudel and Japan as if it is sketched into his collection of prose L’oiseau noir dans le Soleil Levant (1929), product of his six years long experience into the country as diplomatic. It is highlighted the surprising agreement perceived by Claudel between his own Christian thinking and the mistical behavior of Japanese society, reconnecting to the central role of Nature. At the same time it’s underlined the distance that remains beyond any will of intercultural comprehension, and that it is specially evident in La maison d’Antonin Raymond à Tokyo, where it is said that to make a Japanese house comfortable, although it has many merits, it is necessary to remove numerous «inconvénients». RIASSUNTO: L’articolo intende indagare il rapporto di Paul Claudel con il Giappone per come si configura nei testi della sua raccolta di prose L’oiseau noir dans le Soleil Levant (1929), frutto della sua esperienza di sei anni nel paese come diplomatico. Vi si mette in luce la sorprendente consonanza avvertita da Claudel tra il suo pensiero cristiano e l’atteggiamento diffusamente mistico della società giapponese, ricollegandosi alla centralità del rapporto con la natura.
