Indonesian EFL Learners’ Digital Reading Habits 印度尼西亚英语学习者的数字阅读习惯

Reading has long been one of the most crucial skills individuals should master to function effectively in society. Due to the revolutionary penetration of information and communication technology (ICT) into almost all aspects of human life, reading has transformed from paper-based to screen-based. Thus, facilitating students to cultivate digital reading should be one of the educational priorities. This study aims at exploring the digital reading habits of students majoring in English as a foreign language (EFL) in Indonesian context. Employing a mixed-methods design, quantitative and qualitative data were collected using an online questionnaire including close-ended and open-ended questions from 79 students of the English Language Education Study Program of Universitas Kristen Indonesia, Jakarta. The results show that a majority of the participants prefer to read in English in digital reading mode due to several reasons. Their most favorable tool for reading is smartphones. Additionally, a majority of them prefer to read at home as far as they have good access to the internet. Finally, based on the analysis of the motivational and de-motivational factors of reading, the participants’ preference towards digital reading has a stronger motivational foundation than print reading.

Deconstruction of Gendered Dialogues in English Language Students Textbook for Grade 12 Senior High School 解构十二年级高中英语课本中的性别对话

Education plays a significant role in maintaining or deconstructing patriarchal gender constructions in society. Within this ambivalent arena, this study aimed to analyze the representation of gender constructions in a textbook for grade 12 Indonesian EFL students published by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Indonesia in 2018. The textual analysis proposed by McKee is used to analyze the data. Language functions attributed to the two genders are used as the parameters to find their feminine or masculine depiction based on Lakoff (1973) and Coates (2013) combined with Millet’s Sexual Politics. The study revealed that the textbook shows gender deconstructions towards language functions used in female-only, male-only and mixed sex dialogues. The deconstruction of the stereotypes can be seen from the presence of feminine traits in male characters, such as asking for information and producing more phatic and expressive utterances than females. In contrast, female characters are depicted to be dominantly produced masculine traits, such as being knowledgeable by giving more information than men and dominating in conversations. Although, at some points, the characters are still associated with stereotyped gender traits, the efforts to deconstruct traditional images of both genders need to be appreciated even though they still seem ambivalent.

Knowledge, Attitude, and Infringement of Tort Law Among Public Secondary Principle on Students in Osun State, Nigeria 尼日利亚奥逊州公立中学学生的侵权行为法知识、态度与侵权行为

One of the challenges in secondary schools today is infringements on students’ rights, in a tortious way that may also constitute breach of the Child’s Right Act of 2003 in Nigeria. These breach on rights usually come through the administration of corporal punishments on students, and mainly because the school heads see themselves as loco parentis of the students who can, therefore, enforce any form of punishment on them in the school. This study investigated knowledge, attitude, and infringement of tort law among public secondary school heads on students in Osun State. All the students in Osun State public secondary schools and 723 heads constituted the population. A sample of 54 school heads and 180 students were selected using multi-stage sampling procedure. Two instruments were designed to elicit responses from the respondents. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to answer the research questions raised for the study. The results showed that school heads do not have adequate knowledge of tort law and that both the school heads and students have poor attitude toward it tort law. The study recommends that short term training on student’s right, how they can be legally protected and tort law be organised for school heads.

Meningkatkan Mutu Lulusan dengan Memaksimal Fungsi Manajemen Pendidikan di Sekolah 提高毕业生的素质,并提高学校教育管理的功能

Upaya peningkatan kualitas pendidikan dengan cara menyelenggarakan manajemen p endidikan , p emerintah telah membuat standar mutu . Namun untuk m enciptakan pendidikan yang berkualitas memerlukan tata kelola yang baik untuk mendukung tercapainya tujuan pendidikan sehingga diperlukan manajemen pendidikan yang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untukmendeskripsikan manajemen pendidikan yang diterapkan oleh RA Generasi Rabbani Ciamis dalam meningkatkan kualitas lulusannya. P eneliti mewawancara i kepala sekolah, wakil kepala sekolah , dan seorang guru . S edangkan dokumen yang yang dianalisa adalah RPP, rapor siswa, data program-program yang diadakan di sekolah, serta sarana dan prasarana sekolah. Hasilpenelitian menunjukkan bahwa fungsi manajemen pendidikan yang telah dilakukan untuk meningkatkan mutu lulusan sudahbaik dan sesuai. Perencanaan, pelaksanaan, monitoring evaluasi dan perbaikan (PDCA) telah dilakukan oleh sekolah tersebut.Sekolah RA Generasi Rabbani Ciamis sadar akan pentingnya menerapkan manajemen pendidikan untukmencetak siswa-siswi yang bermutu dan memiliki daya saing ketika telah lulus dari sekolah.

Continous Formative Assessment pada Pendekatan Hybrid Learning: Sebuah Study Evaluasi Persepsi 混合学习方法中的持续形成性评估:感知评估研究

Salah satu komponen penting dalam proses pembelajaran adalah penilaian. Penilaian merupakan bukti penting dari proses pembelajaran. Penilaian juga membantu siswa mengetahui tingkat pencapaian pemahaman materi. Saat ini, evaluasi formatif diakui sebagai yang terdepan dalam proses pembelajaran. Penialain formatif adalah kegiatan pembelajaran untuk mencapai penguasaan yang maksimal melalui pemantauan kemajuan penguasaan kompetensi. Oleh karena itu, Continous Formative Assessment (CFA) didesain dan dikembangkan bertujuan sebagai alternatif pendekatan evaluasi yang dapat diterapkan pada proses pembelajaran di era pasca pandemi yang menggunakan pendekatan pembelajaran Hybrid learning. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Quasi-Experimental dimana kelas dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok (kelompok Kontrol dan Eksperimen). Kelompok kontrol menggunakan evaluasi Formatif-Sumatif sedangkan kelompok eksperimen menggunakan evaluasi CFA. Hasil pengolahan data persepsi mahasiswa terhadap CFA menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata sebesar 3.35 dan Std. Devisasi sebesar .697. Nilai rata-rata tertinggi sebesar 3.78 yang menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa mampu mencapai pembelajaran yang diharapkan pada saat menggunakan CFA.

Pengecekan Tingkat Similaritas Jawaban ChatGPT pada Prompts Pendidikan Kejuruan 对职业教育提示线的ChatGPT回答的相似水平进行复查

ChatGPT merupakan salah satu AI yang sangat membantu manusia dalam menjawab semua pertanyaan di berbagai sektor termasuk di sektor pendidikan jika digunakan secara bijak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat kesamaan dari jawaban dari chatGPT terkait pendidikan kejuruan menggunakan turnitin dan chatGPT. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif. Ada 10 pertanyaan yang dimasukkan pada ChatGPT prompts. Setelah muncul 1 jawaban kemudian klik tombol generate respone untuk mendapatkan jawaban lainnya. Setiap pertanyaan diambil 3 jawaban dari ChatGPT. Hasil pengecekan turnitin dibandingkan dengan tabel tingkat plagiasi. Pengecekan tingkat kesamaan menggunakan ChatGPT dilakukan dengan menempelkan jawaban pada prompts kemudian ditambah dengan sebuah pertanyaan ‘Apakah jawaban ini dari chatGPT?’. Pengecekan tingkat kesamaan menggunakan turnitin diketahui bahwa 8 jawaban memiliki indeks kesamaan yang rendah sedangkan 2 jawaban memiliki indeks kesamaan sedang. Berdasarkan pengecekan menggunakan yang dilakukan oleh chatGPT sendiri diketahui bahwa chatGPT tahu semua jawaban tersebut darinya. Rekomendasi untuk penelitian selanjutnya yaitu dapat dilakukan parafrase menggunakan AI tools seperti Wordtune dan Quillbot. Kemudian pengecekan tingkat kesamaannya dilakukan menggunakan banyak plagiarism tools.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat kesamaan dari jawaban dari chatGPT terkait pendidikan kejuruan menggunakan turnitin dan chatGPT. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif. Ada 10 pertanyaan yang dimasukkan pada ChatGPT prompts. Setelah muncul 1 jawaban kemudian klik tombol generate respone untuk mendapatkan jawaban lainnya. Setiap pertanyaan diambil 3 jawaban dari ChatGPT. Hasil pengecekan turnitin dibandingkan dengan tabel tingkat plagiasi. Pengecekan tingkat kesamaan menggunakan ChatGPT dilakukan dengan menempelkan jawaban pada prompts kemudian ditambah dengan sebuah pertanyaan ‘Apakah jawaban ini dari chatGPT?’. Pengecekan tingkat kesamaan menggunakan turnitin diketahui bahwa 8 jawaban memiliki indeks kesamaan yang rendah sedangkan 2 jawaban memiliki indeks kesamaan sedang. Berdasarkan pengecekan menggunakan yang dilakukan oleh chatGPT sendiri diketahui bahwa chatGPT tahu semua jawaban tersebut darinya. Rekomendasi untuk penelitian selanjutnya yaitu dapat dilakukan parafrase menggunakan AI tools seperti Wordtune dan Quillbot. Lexical Collocation Analysis in Master’s Student Reflective Writings 硕士生反思性写作中的词汇搭配分析

The study aims to explore lexical collocations in master’s student reflective writings by classifying the collocations and figuring out the strengths of the word combinations using the Mutual Information (MI) scores. As a corpus-based study, the Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA) was employed by the researchers. Therefore, the MI score of each lexical collocation could be carefully gathered and compared. The result of the study showed six types out of seven types of lexical collocations found in students’ reflective writings. Among the combinations, the noun and verb combinations were the most commonly found. The summarized data revealed that the number of word combinations with a stronger association was higher than the number of word combinations with a less significant association. Being get used to various English language inputs, the students were able to possess a wide range of lexical collocation repertoire and produce writings containing various word combinations with the significant association.

Penelitian ini menjelaskan cara meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis pada siswa SMP dan SMA. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kritis dalam pembelajaran matematika siswa khususnya pada jenjang SMP dan jenjang SMA. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi literatur (literature study). Peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis dalam pembelajaran matematika dapat membuat siswa menjadi lebih aktif dalam pembelajaran. Adapun tahap Berpikir kritis dalam pembelajaran matematika melalui empat tahap yaitu pemberian pertanyaaan, pembagian kelompok, berpikir bersama dan pemaparan jawaban. Kesimpulan penelitian tersebut terbukti dari berbagai hasil-hasil penelitian orang lain yang telah dilakukan sebelumnya.

Enhance Teaching Method of Self-Study Competence in the Digital Environment 数字环境下提高自学能力的教学方法

The world is changing of the 4th Industrial Revolution and the digital era, it is urgent to apply digital transformation in education. Innovating teaching and learning methods in the digital environment based on enhancing self-learning capacity of learners is essential to achieve digital transformation effectively in education and training. This study has proposed three solutions for self-study based teaching method in the digital environment in higher training, especiall in technical universities: (1) experimental self-study in the digital environment, (2) innovating teaching method of self-study in the digital environment, (3) innovating the self-study teching method to improve memory capacity in the digital environment. An objective of this study to clarify the term "teaching and learning in the digital environment". The research results to create a premise for further research, building a theoretical basis on how to teach self-study in a specific university training discipline (example for Electrical Engineering) to illustrate in the digital environment and implementing sample lesson plans and specific lectures to develop self-study competency of the students in a digital environment, achieving higher educational and training efficiency, and meeting current digital transformation requirements

Pembinaan Kepribadian Islami: Kunci Sukses Penerimaan Siswa Baru di SMP Islam Terpadu 伊斯兰教人格建设:成功录取综合伊斯兰中学新生的关键

The focus is on strengthening Islamic personal development involving students, teachers, and staff. The evaluation of new student admissions indicates that 25-30% of parents choose this school due to the motive of Islamic development. This qualitative research aims to analyze the impact of Islamic personality development on significant changes in students’ religious aspects and understand parents’ motivation in choosing SMP Islam Terpadu Bina Insan Kamil Sidareja as an educational institution for their children. Using a descriptive approach, data is obtained through document analysis, interviews, and observations of the Islamic boarding school program. The results show a positive impact of strengthening Islamic personal development, with specifically managed Islamic boarding school programs being a strong reason for high parental preference. The integrated management of Islamic personal development distinguishes this school, reinforcing the excellence in the field of religion as a primary strength in improving the quality and services of education. This research provides a deeper understanding of the importance of Islamic personality development in the context of Integrated Islamic education and contributes to the increase in the number of new student admissions.
