Considering how humans effectively use the power of design in the historical process, it is important to discuss the definitions of human beings that we accept as unchanging and stable. The reason is that this process, including the body, results in the idealisation and standardisation of design objects and architectural space. Due to the discussion of the existing admissions, the reality shift also suggests that no identity definition can be accurate anymore. In this sense, this study seeks a method to read the change potential of architectural space in the field of defined uncertainty and ambiguity. For this, the concept of performativity, which Butler unfolds over the materialisation of the body, with Barad expanding its boundaries to explain the nature of production in the post-humanist context, will be utilised. In this perspective, the study will try to show the new possibilities of the architectural space, unlike stable, passive roles assigned to the space, through the concept of performativity, and on the other hand, to conceptualise the production of the variable role and position of the architectural space in its current state. Architects' attitudes most likely get from the common values obtained during their education and these values are acquired within the period of architectural education i.e., from the first year to the last year. In this sense, design problems are mostly defined with the help of mimetics and it is believed that thinking through mimetics enables the student to explain and understand an unknown situation relative to a familiar situation. So, believing that each student in the design studio uses certain language codes and develops them with knowledge, in this paper the design preferences of four architecture students at three different stages of their education are cross-sectionally analysed using the method called "Metaphorical Reasoning: Context and Depth" and the design approaches of each student are revealed. As shown in this study, some students have an excellent ability to use abstract concepts and have been able to switch between resources (between-domain sources and within-domain sources) very boldly. In the process, the accumulation of knowledge and education changed their mimetic behaviour, and the abstract concepts of some novices became more complex as their education progressed. On the other hand, some other novices who took tangible design approaches remained almost unchanged until the end. Considering that these different mimetic approaches of students are related to their learning styles, Kolb's Learning Style Inventory (LSI) method was used and learning styles of four students were revealed. There are subjective and objective acoustic parameters in the creation of acoustic performance for speech action in room acoustics. Control of reverberation time affecting subjective and objective acoustic parameters is a main parameter in room acoustics. In this study, the acoustic performance assessment of the TOBB Twins Headquarters Reception Hall, which is current enclosed space with square plan and flat floor, has been performed as a case study. The evaluation focused on the relationship between reverberation time and interior surface absorption. Primarily, the reverberation time was determined according to the international standard with in-situ measurements in the current enclosed space. The reverberation time of the space was found over the reference value range. Models have been developed with the use of materials to reduce the reverberation time. In the assessment of room acoustics parameters, reverberation times of the models developed using Ecotect v.5.20 and Odeon 14.00 simulation programs have been determined. The model in which the optimum reverberation time for the speech action was obtained was constructed. After the construction, reverberation time measurements have been made again. As a result of the study, the effect of surface absorptions on the improvement of reverberation time in the enclosed spaces with square plan and flat floor for speech action has been evaluated. Suggestions have been developed to control the reflective and absorption properties of all surfaces in accordance with the evaluation and improvement of reverberation time.

A contractor firm, which strategically positioned itself in the housing market as a "sales firm, independent of its industry" introduced a patented product innovation, the Foldhome, to the Turkish housing market in 2010. The idea behind Foldhome was adding a set of social facility areas (or, 'Folds') to core accommodation units which include a bedroom, a living space and wet spaces. The firm gained a commercial success in the branded housing market with an annual turnover about 300.000.000 USD and 400.000.000 USD in 2016 and 2017 respectively. While researchers have reported that a significant portion of the variance in firm growth in construction can be explained by corporate entrepreneurship, empirical evidence on 'how' this process leads to organizational growth is scarce. This paper presents findings from a qualitative research study of the Foldhome case which aimed an in-depth investigation of the role of entrepreneurship on firm growth and value creation. A content analysis was conducted to analyze data from 31 in-depth interview with firm managers and employees, according to the input-process-output model of strategic entrepreneurship. A process-based analysis of the case show that leveraging can be a more critical managerial capability than bundling and structuring in the early life cycle phase when young entrepreneurial companies orchestrate their resources for survival, growth and value creation. Paper contributes to construction entrepreneurship literature by unpacking the circumstances under which a holistic entrepreneurship framework that surround a product innovation through the integration of corporate functions. Lessons learned are highlighted for the entrepreneurial contractor companies.

Wind is a significant architectural design parameter to be considered during the initial phase of the design stage. However, there are very few studies on the wind behaviour of buildings in the architectural field. Understanding the behaviour of buildings under wind loads is significant to developing solutions at every stage of the design phase. This study presents the numerical examination of wind pressure distributions on U-plan-shaped buildings with four different depth ratios of 0.5, 1, 2, and 4 over a wind incidence angle of 0°. Models were examined with 2 and 5 m/s wind velocity values. This study aims to examine the effect of depth ratios and wind velocity values on an irregular building. Wind pressure distributions around models, wind velocity distributions, wind flows and streamlines have been comprehensively evaluated. As a result of the studies, it has been observed that according to the wind pressure distributions around building models, when the U1, U2 and, U7, U8 models are compared, it can be seen that the negative pressure difference decreases slightly as the depth ratio decreases. Furthermore, as the wind velocity increased, the negative pressure difference decreased. It was observed that there was no significant difference in terms of positive pressure values. Moreover, it was observed that from the height level of H/3 to 2H/3, the vortex region decreases. This vortex area is more significant in the U7 model, which has a depth ratio of 0.5. The vortex area increases as the depth ratio decreases.

The study analyses the results of the five-month scientific and practical project "South Coast of Ukraine: from research to development" in 2020-2021. The aim is to rethink the development of cities in the Kherson region and find alternative scenarios of spatial transformations that can give impetus to qualitative ecological, socio-economic and socio-cultural changes in cities. The Ukrainian coastal cities of Henichesk and Skadovsk were selected as pilot cities. The study aimed to identify the shortcomings of this project in terms of effective involvement of city residents in project processes and develop proposals for resolving inconsistencies in further work with residents of these and other Ukrainian cities. The study identified the main reasons for the ineffectiveness of the project's impact, among which the main identified the incorrect methodology of participatory work. As a result of the research, it was found that, in the Ukrainian context, it is challenging to conduct participatory work - it turns into imitation. The expert community and entrepreneurship should be the driving forces of change to increase the effectiveness of decisions on urban development; Ukraine's post-Soviet participatory practice needs detailed research, taking into account real political and economic contexts.

The building economics demands after World War II required creative and imaginative engineering work from the actors of the construction industry. For the participants of the process, factory prefabrication and on-site installation presented the possibility of applying reinforced concrete structures economically. These structures had already been present in the modern engineering mindset for decades in the interwar period.From 1949 onwards, centralised state control developed in Hungary, and the new economic policy also expressed a methodological change in education. An essential background of this practice was the training of architects at the Budapest Technical University, in accordance with the new needs of the construction industry. What effect did the development, dictated by the state, have on the evolution of the Hungarian construction industry, and what advances did it highlight compared to the innovations between the two world wars?The study explores connections and correlations between theoretical knowledge and practical experience at the time and examines the transformation of architectural education through an objective analysis of documents. In addition to the exploratory research of archival materials, we place particular emphasis on the exploration of personally experiential processes by including an accurate picture of contemporary developments through oral history. With the scientifically evaluated data, the study is the first to examine the characteristics of Hungarian engineering education of the period introducing the most innovative designers of the Hungarian construction industry to transfer practical living knowledge at the university level.

Re-use is one of the conservation methods used to meet the changing and evolving needs for historical cultural heritage that cannot be used for social, cultural, or socio-economic reasons with its original function. One of the most important issues in re-use is the right balance between conservation and functional change, ensuring the continuity of the cultural value and originality of the building. In line with this perspective, this paper aims to determine the cultural perception performance in a re-functioned historical building to determine how the user perceives the authenticity and historical values. Within the scope of the research, the criteria for measuring cultural perception via users are tested on the example of Hışvahan, which is a monumental building in the historic urban site of Gaziantep and is re-used as a hotel and restaurant. The study is descriptive in terms of research design. The methodology of the research consists of two stages: Creating criteria for analysing cultural perception performance and testing these criteria via users. The COVID-19 pandemic, declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization, continues to be a serious threat to life. There is considerable anxiety due to the rapid spread of the disease and the continuous increase in patients and deaths. It is known that architecture changed significantly in various periods due to similar concerns. The study examines the effect of the COVID-19 process on architecture and provides design suggestions related to shopping centre designs, especially in the Mediterranean climate. The study will examine shopping centres, where users access spaces with many different functions simultaneously, investigating the harmful effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on architecture and propose new solutions by including users in the study. The survey method was used and analysed in the SPSS program. As a result, it is believed that this study will produce architectural solutions to the problems caused by COVID-19 and constitute a source for new research.

Efficient use of energy and indoor comfort is accepted as the priority of modern architectural design trends, making it obligatory to design building shells in a specific form to provide adequate flexibility for energy flow and thermal comfort. Accordingly, climate-adaptive building shells (CABS) offer opportunities to significantly reduce energy use in buildings and lower CO2 emissions while serving as a promising alternative for sustainability. This study examines the development of climate-adaptive, high-performance and advanced facade systems through office buildings where energy consumption is higher than other constructions. The research method used in the study is data collection, process tracing, and content analysis from qualitative methods. The study consists of two stages. In the first stage of the study, climate-adaptive facade systems are investigated in detail; facade systems that will form the sub-headings of the CABS term have been determined and explained through the literature. The second stage of the study examines climate-compatible facade systems in energy-efficient design. It considers the factors affecting energy-efficient façade systems following the analysis of the prominent headings in the literature review.
