The paradigm, the foundation and fundamental of science has been examined by scholars since the earliest period, also in communication studies. Referring to some authors, it is part of typologies that necessary to encompass when talking about scientific discipline particularly communication. However, the historical root of the studies is unavoidable evidences has significantly influenced the studies in world including Asian. Some authors have articulated their views regarding to the paradigm and its trivial in the discourse from the need for the studies until the theoretical perspectives and others. Nevertheless, Indonesia as one of the crucial countries in Asia apparently has not been studied widely and intensely. This paper tries to find how Indonesia's paradigm of communication studies that occured and have extended until nowadays, by tracing into many academic practices, in research papers that published through journals, books and educational institutions. Indonesian communication professor[s] as the figure[s] of the discipline considered as the authoritative sources to draw the discipline. Some [public] documents also show the empirical practice related to this matter. Finally, based on the data there are some conclusions designate that Indonesia paradigm of communication studies has been influenced by the Europe and US thought and tradition following the historical roots of the scholars who have studied in US, Europe, and Australia colleges. One of the perspectives about Indonesia’s communication theory is namely archipelago communication as part of Indonesian paradigm of communication study.

The issue of sexual violence is one of the issues that is often attacked by the media. Konde.co is an alternative media with the perspective of women and minorities who have experienced repression in the form of digital attacks and verbal violence when reporting sexual violence. This study aims to explain how Konde.co's editorial management in reporting the issue of sexual violence in the midst of potential repression. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observation, and documentation studies. Based on the results of the research, it is known that Konde.co carries out editorial management, such as planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling in reporting on issues of sexual violence with a gender perspective, where reporting is always on the side of the victim. The findings of further research, Konde.co anticipate repression in reporting sexual violence by implementing a Journalistic Code of Ethics and guidelines for reporting sexual violence, prioritizing the protection of journalists' safety in covering sexual violence, and mitigating digital attacks.

This article aims to discover how women’s lifestyle media constructs a false awareness about women’s bodies through body positivity discourse. Using media and gender perspectives, false consciousness, body positivity, and Roland Barthes’ semiotic analysis, this research finds that the media produces body positivity discourse as a narrative that ‘all bodies are beautiful, whatever their shape.’ Body positivity discourse refers to fat bodies as ‘normality’ to fight the stigma that fat bodies are not beautiful and are a problem for women. Body positivity evolved from the fat acceptance movement. This body positivity discourse is built on the construct that women must accept their body shape to live happily. The media produces the message through photos and texts that fat bodies are delicate as long as they are healthy. It ignores that medical obesity carries serious health consequences for many women. Thus, this research shows that instead of building women’s positive acceptance of their body shape, the media creates a misguided consciousness of fat bodies from a medical perspective.

There are various personal reasons someone is interested in reading the news. Apart from the level of education, the abundance of information, generational differences, even production strategies and the appearance of news publications shape people's new habits in consuming news. There are those who believe that the appearance of news packaging influences interest in reading news and in other side interest in reading news depends on the substance of the content. This research tests whether there is an influence of the Liputan6.com headline carousel on generation Y and Z's reading interest in news content. Liputan6.com carousel content is posted on its official Instagram account. Carousel content is one of the results of technological developments in the field of journalism in terms of news publications. The carousel platform is relatively new because it was released in 2017 and is still used today. The theory used in this research is SOR proposed by Hovlan, Janis and Kelley. This theory assumes that the stimulation provided by the mass media in the form of news has an effect on the communicant. The research uses a quantitative approach with a questionnaire instrument. The data results were processed using Simple Linear Regression Test statistics to find the influence of the carousel headline and the quality of the carousel content on the reading interest of generations Y and Z, both partially and simultaneously. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that there is an influence from carousel headlines on generation Y and Z's reading interest in Instagram @liputan6 carousel content of 39.4%.

Generation Z was born when digital technology was developing rapidly. They learned quickly and grew into a generation adept at using digital devices such as laptops, smartphones, tablets, and others. As a result, Generation Z spend more time using digital devices, exploring the virtual world, and interacting on social media than interacting face-to-face in real life. This behavior also arises because most of their daily activities are close to gadgets, so it becomes a new habit and impacts the decline in interest in reading. For this reason, means and ways are needed to change these habits. This research aims to find Kediripedia.com's strategy to generate interest in reading among Gen Z. The findings show that Kediripedia.com generate a strategy to increase young readers' interest in reading by taking two approaches. First, Kediripedia.com researched Gen Z to find out what kind of content and information presentation criteria interest them. Second, Kediripedia.com uses multi-platform information presentation by combining text, images, videos, and attractive visual design to create a playful yet accurate and credible information package for all groups, especially Generation Z.

This article aims to examine the strategy of the Joko Widodo’s Government in the policy of moving and establishing a new National Capital (IKN), the responses shown by civil society, and the role of the media in bridging the government's political communications. Using a qualitative approach with descriptive data analysis, the article outlines how the three subjects, the government, civil society groups and the media, carry-out their roles regarding the IKN. Utilizing Media and Civil Society Theory, the research analysis is focused on IKN news content in selected mass media. In addition, the research analyzes this topic from the perspective of scientific integration of da'wa communication. Research results show that the Jokowi’s government has built political communication by expanding coalitions in parliament as well as using internal media as an effective strategy in gaining support for the policy of moving and opening IKN. The article also notesthat the voice of the Civil Society group, which considered that the transfer of the IKN did not have social and political urgency, was not adequately accommodated. Finally, the research finds the vulnerability of media independence referring to accommodative tendencies of the media in reporting information on the birth of transfer policies and the establishment of the new capital.

Using a qualitative approach with descriptive data analysis, the article outlines how the three subjects, the government, civil society groups and the media, carry-out their roles regarding the IKN. Utilizing Media and Civil Society Theory, the research analysis is focused on IKN news content in selected mass media. In addition, the research analyzes this topic from the perspective of scientific integration of da'wa communication. Research results show that the Jokowi’s government has built political communication by expanding coalitions in parliament as well as using internal media as an effective strategy in gaining support for the policy of moving and opening IKN. The article also notesthat the voice of the Civil Society group, which considered that the transfer of the IKN did not have social and political urgency, was not adequately accommodated. Transformasi teknologi media cetak ke media online telah mempermudah akses ke berbagai informasi berita yang ada. Sayangnya, meski mudah diakses tidak semua berita yang ada memenuhi kaidah hukum dan kode etik jurnalistik tidak terkecuali pemberitaan tentang anak. Artikel ini menemukan bahwa masih ada media online yang tidak memenuhi standar regulasi pers yang telah diatur dalam Dewan Pers Nomor 1/Peraturan-DP/II/2019, tentang Pedoman Pemberitaan Ramah Anak (PPRA) dan pasal 5 dalam kode etik jurnalistik yaitu dengan memproduksi berita tidak ramah anak. Penelitian ini menggunakan Teori Pers Tanggungjawab Sosial dan teknik pengambilan datanya menggunakan wawancara mendalam dan studi pustaka. Dengan menganalisis dua berita pada media iNews dan Medcom.id—ditemukan pemberitaan yang tidak ramah anak dengan menyebut identitas anak—menyiarkan visual dan audio identitas atau asosiasi identitas anak dalam melengkapi informasi tentang peristiwa anak terkait persoalan hukum.

To cope with the demands of globalization, communication graduates must be provided with appropriate knowledge and skills needed in the industry. To find out how WVSU communication graduates perform in employment, this tracer study was conducted. This study looked into the employment profile of the Bachelor in Broadcasting, Bachelor in Journalism, and Bachelor of Science in Development Communication graduates of 2011-2013. It also traced the transition to employment of the graduates, their level of satisfaction towards the competencies acquired and the significance of the curriculum in the acquisition of knowledge and skills. This descriptive survey utilized a questionnaire adapted from the Graduate Tracer Study (GTS) instrument used by the Universities and Colleges in the Philippines. Findings revealed that most of the graduates are females, single, and permanently employed. Graduates considered their degree programs relevant to their jobs and they were satisfied with the knowledge and skill they acquired from their degrees. The result of the tracer study is a proof that the three curricular programs play a big role in the lives of the graduates especially in acquiring several skills and knowledge needed by a professional to compete in the challenging world of employment.
