Impact of the new learning environment on traditional engineering courses 新的学习环境对传统工程课程的影响

The paper brings a short overview of accomplished steps that promote development and enforcement of a new approach to PID control. Its concern is to unify numerous approaches and initiatives which emerged during the last hundred years in the field of control of the simplest dynamical systems and to organize them into a new modular building kit that would be more compact, consistent and effective than the existing one. An essential role of different ICT tools and electronic media, corresponding learning environment, and a learning paradigm representing indispensable parts of the overall research framework are highlighted.

Mobile devices in learning — Are students ready for the change? 移动设备在学习中的应用——学生们准备好迎接这种变化了吗?

Mobile devices are changing everyday lives and also change the way how people are engaging in particular activities. Teaching and learning is no exception, over the last ten years there has been an extensive research in this field, which revealed that student's acceptance of mobile learning is also influenced by the experience with mobile devices. Motivation of this study was to find out if university students are ready for the introduction of elements of m-learning. Readiness for m-learning in the context of this study covered the experience and also the ownership of mobile devices, since the introduction of mobile devices in learning will be covered under BYOD (bring your own device) policy. We designed three research questions that examined technological readiness (ownership and usage of mobile devices), ability to accomplish the task with mobile device and possibility to discover typology of smartphone users.

Faster synthesis of combinational logic based on multiplexer trees and binary decision diagrams 基于多路器树和二叉决策图的快速组合逻辑合成

Multiplexers are well known as a basic building element of digital and mixed signal circuits thanks to their ability to perform any Boolean function. Optimization is a significant part of synthesis of combinational logic, since performance has to be improved, area and power consumption have to be reduced. The paper presents a novel faster optimization method for multiplexer trees using basic BDD reduction methods, residual variables, a hash table and top-down approach. An option to automatically replace some multiplexers in the multiplexer tree with basic logic gates has been added in order to achieve better results. This method also works with multiple Boolean functions at once so that we can design circuits with more than one output. Experimental results show that implemented algorithm reduces total amount of multiplexers in optimized multiplexer tree by up to 99,99% in comparison to non-optimized multiplexer tree. In addition up to 63,46% of multiplexers can be replaced with a logic gate OR, AND or XOR, which can reduce total amount of transistors needed to realise given combinational logic by up to 24,23%.

Visual system for student attendance monitoring with non-standard situation detection 视觉系统,学生考勤监控与非标准的情况检测

In this paper we propose a visual system for monitoring of student attendance in seminars and lectures. Basic idea is to estimate the number of people in the room using face detection algorithms and subsequently utilize face recognition algorithms to determine the actual identification of persons (students). Presented approach may be used for multiple purposes. Principal and primary purpose is to monitor attendance, which is possible thanks to university database. When implemented, system is expected to evaluate the attendance automatically or if necessary using collaborative authentication. Non-standard or anomaly detection is another feature that is to be provided by system, subject to tracking are hands, eyes and movement. Proposed solution is expected to improve and facilitate attendance monitoring of students at seminars and lectures. Further it may be used for anomaly prevention (e.g. cheating) and in specific cases for security or legal matters.

Reduction of IP flow information in network traffic monitoring systems 网络流量监控系统中IP流信息的减少

This paper deals with the design, implementation and evaluation of a method for the reduction of IP flow information. The aim of this method is to decrease the utilization of the measuring tools based on the IPFIX protocol. The designed method was implemented in the MyBeem component of the SLAmeter network traffic monitoring tool, which is used for measuring various network traffic characteristics. This method uses the values of the IP flow keys for decreasing the load of the monitoring system by reducing the number of flows sent from the Exporter(s) to the Collector(s). This technique focuses on aggregation by which the number of flows generated by the metering process is controlled. The main contribution of this paper is an IP flow information data reduction technique.

Financial literacy and financial education can be considered as new concept that is trying to find out way how to help people in orientation at financial markets and in area of personal finances. Goal of the contribution is to analyze actual state in area of financial education in Slovakia according analysis and questionnaire research of financial literacy of students at universities. Effort is to provide real picture of financial literacy of universities students in Slovakia and to formulate some possibilities of its increasing in nearby future.

Building an easy to use management on top of the APIs of a complex IP telephony system 在复杂IP电话系统的api之上构建易于使用的管理

New ICT technologies and solutions can dramatically improve the effectiveness of the end users by giving them the right IT tools for their job. While the end users are happy to see improvements in the tools they are using, the ever growing ICT infrastructure is getting more and more complex and difficult to manage. Human errors in the operations phase are among the key issues that might lead to a system instability and in the worst case, even cause downtimes. Proper training of the administrative people can help to reduce these issues, but with the tight OPEX budgets, it is getting difficult to train a sustainable number of people for every specific technology. To still minimize the number of errors caused by incorrect configuration changes, simplifying the management tools and adding automation into multistep processes can dramatically reduce the number of human errors. In this paper we are presenting an in-house-built tool at the Technical University of Kosice, which is used in the daily operations as a replacement of the official management interface of a complex IP telephony system. Tasks that normally required several steps to complete, including configurations created or modified on different places of the original management system, are now created in a simple web based management tool.

Computerized adaptive testing 计算机自适应测试

Constant repetition is one of the ways to improve students' knowledge of mathematics. Even Komenský said that “repetition is the mother of wisdom”, which was a revolutionary claim at the time. The use of the adaptive testing system can improve students' knowledge and make the entire education process more effective. This paper aims to introduce the basic principles of computerized adaptive testing and the possibilities of its use in the study modes.

The impact of multimedia on students' knowledge of Discrete Mathematics in applied informatics 多媒体对学生应用信息学离散数学知识的影响

The use of multimedia in the educational process is currently considered almost for granted. Most universities and also many secondary schools have created to study e-learning courses, in which are incorporated multimedia elements. Not always and not for each school subject are important elements of multimedia. In this article we will discuss the use of multimedia elements in teaching Discrete Mathematics in the Department of Computer Science Faculty of Natural Sciences in Nitra. During the two years we have carried out an experiment in which students completed a pretest and two post-test aimed at measure their knowledge of the issue. Embodiments and details of the course experiment as well as on the results obtained we write later in this article.

DIDS based on hybrid detection 基于混合检测的DIDS

Information security is one of the priorities in the context of communication technologies. The work is focused on intrusion detection in high-speed computer networks. Request-transition diagrams method describing the time-dependent phenomena provides an effective method to announce passages preceding the existence of disturbance. Modified hybrid detection reduces the responsiveness of the system and method provides real-time tracking. In a correct state of the system is used only one method of detection, which is provided in real-time. Definition of indefinite field brings extension to dual detection methods to ensure accuracy and recovery of erroneous detections. Distributed detection methods based on descriptive rules accelerate the detection process.
