Electrical insulators in 22kV distribution system of the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) are mostly porcelain insulator types that consists of suspension, pin type, line post, and pin post insulators. The distribution lines will be polluted by industrial contaminants, salt fog or natural dust. Experience shows that pollution flashover is one of the main natural calamities harming and affecting the voltage stability and reliability of distribution system. This paper compares the test results obtained from artificial pollution tests according to IEC 60507 with line post type and pin post type insulators of medium system under same test conditions. The salt fog test results indicate that the pollution flashover performance of line post insulator is less than to 50 percent of wet power frequency withstand voltage at equivalent salt deposit density (ESDD) = 0.5 mg/cm2 and the leakage current (LC) of line post insulator increased to 10.2 mA at ESDD = 0.5 mg/cm2 at nominal voltage. In the experiment indicate that AC pollution flashover performance of pin post insulator has better than line post insulator in the serious pollution area.

This paper proposes novel MPPT method of photovoltaic system with temperature coefficient. The conventional CV(Constant Voltage) and PO(Perturbation and Observation) methods have the weak problem about the radiation and temperature change. Thus, in this paper, in order to improve this problem, the optimal voltage and current is determined and the MPPT control is performed. The MPPT algorithm proposed in this paper analyzes the performance about radiation and temperature change and proves the validity.

Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) has been used to drive a number of vehicles. PMSM has high torque density, high efficiency and wide speed range. However, the high cost of permanent magnets is viewed as a disadvantage. This paper presents a technique that can increase the torque density by modifying the shape of permanent magnets and minimizing the magnet volume. Models were compared by increasing the thickness and the width of permanent magnets to increase the torque density. The result confirmed that increasing the width of permanent magnets was much more effective than increasing the thickness.

This paper presents a novel method for the estimation of the lead-acid battery initial state of charge (SOC) using the battery impedance measurement. The initial SOC is a crucial value used in the commonly used Coulomb counter. An experimental test bench for battery characterization and impedance measurement is built using CompactRio and Labview software. A very simple electrical circuit is proposed and designed allowing the determination of the initial SOC. Mathematical formulas are derived allowing obtaining a good estimation of the initial SOC. The simulation results are validated experimentally.

This paper proposes an approximated harmonics analysis based LCL filter design methodology for a grid connected PWM inverter. Unlike conventional LCL filter design methods which usually adapts a complicated, trial-and-error, and time-consuming procedure, the proposed methodology provides the straightforward design result without a recursive procedure, by using a approximated harmonic analysis and a correlations between design specifications. The theoretical harmonic analysis and derivation of the proposed methodology are provided in detail, and the step-by-step design procedure is presented. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed methodology is verified through various simulation results by using PSIM software.

Research and development in the field of electric vehicles is evolving quickly based on global efforts reducing CO2 footprint and fossil fuel dependency for road vehicles. Standardized communication interfaces are a necessity for grid integration of electric vehicles, interoperability, and therefore mass market acceptance of E-Mobility. In extend to such base level of interoperability, the real opportunity of electric vehicles lies in demand and supply management. Such added value is provided through means like monitoring and control. IEC 61850-7-420 already addresses such means for distributed energy resources, like photovoltaic and combined heat and power systems. For such systems it defines appropriate object models as well as communication bindings in order to monitor and control a system's status. Based on these principles, this paper reviews relevant standards in electric mobility and points out particular requirements for electric vehicles. From that, it derives an extension to IEC 61850-7-420 in order to introduce a corresponding distributed energy resource information model for electric vehicles. The model is furthermore extended to various charging infrastructure scenarios in order to support aggregation over numerous electric vehicles. The proposed distributed energy resource provisioning mechanism for electric vehicles is validated with a proof-of-concept implementation. Hence, this work also provides validation of today's standardization efforts for electric vehicle in terms of grid integration.

In this paper, Parallel system of DC-DC Converter applied to DC distribution system for building Applications. Power supply device of DC distribution needs a large power system that is requires Efficiency and reliability of the power conversion systems. If A single converter supplies power to the all load connected to DC grid, Temperature rise, reduction in life of system and capacity expansion is limited. In power supply device which require high power system such as DC distribution for building applications, stability and response characteristic of DC gird voltage are critical in DC distribution system. For improving limited switching frequency in using the DC/DC converter, this paper present parallel operation method of bidirectional DC/DC converter. In this paper, ripple reduction and improved transient response was verified by simulation and experiment.

This paper presents the results of the tests on the exhaust emissions from a turboprop engine used for the propulsion of PZL W-3 Sokol helicopter. The tests were conducted in pre-flight conditions. The paper presents the test results and their analysis that enabled the determining of the values of the brake-specific emissions at selected load points. The load values were determined based on the courses of the parameters recorded by an on-board flight recorder during the pre-flight test. The obtained values of the brake-specific emissions as assigned to the engine load conditions were used for the evaluation of the emissions of the helicopter under actual operating conditions. The load conditions of the powertrain were determined based on the analysis of the operating data as obtained from several archival flight records. The analysis enabled an obtainment of the values of the exhaust emissions generated during the actual operating conditions of the helicopter.

The paper presents a high efficient charge equalizing circuit for series connected battery cells using the inductor voltage second balance and the transformer coupling principle. The proposed circuit is motivated from a general buck-boost converter with a multi-winding transformer coupling, and operates under zero voltage switching (ZVS) and zero current switching (ZCS) condition, which is achieved by only one single resonant circuitry through a multi-winding transformer coupling effect. In this paper, the principle of operation and design consideration is explained detail. To verify the proposed circuit, prototype board is built and experimented. Based on the multi-winding transformer coupling and ZVZCS switching operation, the proposed circuit provides a fast balancing speed and a high switching frequency operation, which result in a cost, size and weight reduction.
