The text briefly defines ecolinguistics and geopoetics as trends in contemporary humanities that give a living hope for shaping modern man’s attitudes towards the environment. The development of civilization is a good thing, but at the same time it carries a lot of threats. Ecological awareness is still something unnatural in the thinking of the average person and still requires awareness of the relationship between the quality of behavior of contemporary society and the quality of life of future generations. The text shortly mentions ecolinguistics and geopoetics as trends that allow to raise awareness, especially among students and young people. It should be emphasized that this important reflection is only a narrow part of the considerations on possible ways of shaping ecological awareness, as well as the trends themselves

The purpose of this article is to determine what the image of the lord and the peasant looked like in the past in Cieszyn Silesia, how the peasant was perceived, as well as the lord, what were their mutual relations. The research material was Józef Ondrzusz’s publication Przysłowia i przymówiska ludowe ze Śląska Cieszyńskiego.

The main subject of the article covers the transmission of cultural values in travellers’ accounts, in particular it features the role of language as a communication tool. Illustrations come from Wincenty Lutosławski’s ‘Wędrówki Iberyjskie’ (1909, new edition 2021) and depict the extracts from literary and academic life in Spain and Portugal, as well as the matter of ethnical minorities (such as Arabs, Jews or Romani), whom he had met during his travel. The separate aspect of this article presents polish philosopher’s life companion – Sofía Casanova, whom he had met in Madrid and who had a huge impact on progress of Polish and Spanish relations. In the end, the article indicates similarities between Polish and Spanish nations, which form, in author’s opinion, additional motivation to get to know the country, which civilization achievements could become a part of a very important component of Polish youth’s education.

The aim of this article is to analyze and compare Polish and Russian speech acts of request observed in messages sent on postcards. The presented analysis is a continuation of research into pragmatic as well as cultural aspects of postcard texts. The considerations presented in the article lead us to conclude that both similarities and differences can be found in Polish and Russian speech acts of request. For instance, one can observe discrepancies in their location within the structure of postcard messages. As far as similarities are concerned, the analysis shows among others that the basic form of speech acts of request in the messages written in both languages are sentences with imperative verb forms. The practice of expressing requests directly and explicitly might be caused by the small size of the postcard, but it can also be the result of symmetrical relationships between interaction partners.

The article on the borderline of literature, linguistic and pedagogy focuses on poetry for youngest by Julian Tuwim. The article also shows how important the sound and the meaning of the word are in the development of speech, which Tuwim uses masterfully in his work. The article also presents some of the phraseologisms that appeared in Tuwim’s poems for children.

The article is devoted to the problem of foreign language inclusions of Polish origin in the vocabulary of the Russian language. The main attention is paid to three linguistic analyzes (etymological, semantic and stylistic), which are presented on the basis of the created database of language data. Etymological analysis examines the inclusions of Polish origin according to their belonging to the Polish language as a source or intermediate language, semantic analysis pays attention to the distribution of Polish-language inclusions according to lexical and semantic groups, stylistic analysis classifies the inclusions of Polish origin according to their speech style.

The article presents the reception history of one book (“Un mondo a parte”) in four different historical periods. The key social, political, and historical transformations in post‑war Italy will provide an important context for the reflection. “The unpublished edition” from 1958 is now part of the canon of twentieth‑century world literature. The belated and turbulent reception history of “Un mondo a parte” in Italy was conditioned by ideology and can also be read as the story of the slow discovery of Gustaw Herling as a writer whose books are published in Italian.

The aim of the paper was depiction the language of erotic scenes in Polish crime novels after 2000. The writers describe sex scenes in different ways. They use, among others, vulgarisms, euphemistic, metaphorical or biological and medical language. The analysis of the language was based on the books of such writers as Paulina Świst, Katarzyna Bonda, Małgorzata and Michał Kuźmińscy, as well as Gaja Grzegorzewska. Moreover, it was essential to describe these scenes’ functions and determine what the writers show in these scenes show and how they characterise the protagonists. The article includes references, among others theory of erotism of Georges Bataille.
