This article presents a simple guide that supports the pedagogical planning process. Besides the knowledge that will be shared, structuring an learning unit or a course demands reflection and effort in the teaching/learning development. The work described in this paper proposes a guide that speeds the process of defining online learning strategies by crossing cognitive objectives, pedagogical models, techniques and free web tools. The usefulness of the results obtained can be viewed on the perspectives of both student and teacher, thus it is a mediation instrument among all the players in the learning process. At the same time, it helps the bureaucratic procedures that are usually associated. We conclude this paper by presenting a set of recommendations obtained by the application of the pedagogic planning suggested in an implementation of an online course.

Excessive electric energy consumption results in high costs for consumers, and often on using non-renewable resources. Additionally, in many cases, it is difficult for the consumer or for the energy provider to determine if one or more equipment is being used efficiently. Therefore, the main objective of this work is to promote awareness about energy consumption. For that purpose, a mobile application with a gamification approach was designed to identify users' behaviors towards the use of energy and, based on the user's answers, offer advices to save energy and promote ecological awareness. The outcome of using gamification on a mobile application with such goals results in a streamlined data collection application that combines information and entertainment. The collected information is being gathered to potentially create consumer profiles that better reflect the user's energy consumption.

The hospital area is constantly in need of care and attention. Because of its urgencies, it has vulnerabilities and risks that hinder the quality of hospital management. Technological management tools are effective in improving processes and strategic administration because they provide information reliability. The aim of this work is to propose to the Brazilian Federal University Hospitals (FUH's) the use of an open source Business Intelligence (BI) tool, Pentaho, to analyze the Hospital Occupancy Rate (HOR) and support clinical decision making. This paper describes BI and Pentaho, as well as the main points of the E-EFI-01 efficiency documentation established by the National Agency of Supplementary Health (NASH), with emphasis on the hospital indicator Occupancy Rate. Through Pentaho, is made the data extraction and the transformation, as well as loading them into the Data Warehouse (DW), all based on a relational database of the Brazilian Hospital Services Company (BHSC). After that, dimensional cubes are created for the generation of graphic panels in dashboards. It can be seen that most BHSC hospitals are not yet adequately using their operational beds, being outside the goal established by NASH. Several steps are taken to achieve efficient hospital administration, but the joint working of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solutions with the health area and its standards, provides a major step towards efficient hospital management.

In the last years, the appearance of new and revolutionary technologies has changed the society in all its aspects (economy, feeding, personal relationships…). Education is not foreign to these changes. Genuine concepts such as collaborative learning, massive courses (MOOC) or flipped classrooms have been incorporated at every educational level, although the maturity of students allows a greater capacity for innovation at higher education. Together with these concepts, new technological tools have been employed with educational purposes. In particular, wikis have been reported as ideally suited for collaborative learning. Thus, nowadays, several Universities around the world are running projects and events about the use of wikis in higher education. Therefore, in this paper we explore the use of wikis in the higher educational institutions, being focused on a special case: Wikipedia. Wikipedia presents special characteristics which make it perfect to reach not only the specific learning objectives of a certain particular subject, but also the transversal abilities so demanded today (such as teamwork or social responsibility). The research methodology followed is based on a review and update of the collaboration between the University and the Wikipedia. In particular, we analyze the collaboration of the Spanish and Hispanic American Universities in its different manifestations. In this work, we explain the most interesting results about this collaboration. We observe one increasingly activity over this collaboration due to the greater number of universities that are incorporated, especially in the last five years. Finally, we analyze more deeply the experiences about the use of Wikipedia conducted in the Technical University of Madrid and we present the obtained results.

The problems commonly associated with virtual education and the academic objectives that support higher education have not been unified in the specialized literature yet. How to achieve this unification? Through motivational strategies which achieve the success of virtual courses. These strategies must be totally different from those applied in face-to-face courses, since motivational factors in virtual education and face-to-face education are evidently different. Therefore, in this paper we propose two strategies to be used in motivating the undergraduate students, in order to improve performance in the subject of Programming Fundamentals in virtual mode. It is proved that fail rates of students decreased in groups were the motivational strategies were applied.

Organizations felt the need to quickly process information in an efficient way in order to support decision-making, thus leading to the emergence of Business Intelligence systems. Their use in organizations has become crucial in the treatment of large data volumes, and providing relevant information, in order to assertively support decision-making. This article presents the design of a data mart for the financial resources of a public organism with the objective of responding to the data visualization and processing needs of the respective organism. Posteriorly a prototype was developed with the objective of evaluating, through the TAM model, the usability, utility and easiness of use. The sample chosen to evaluate this data mart and the respective data processing was made up of university students who attended the curricular unit of Business Intelligence II and who had the knowledge to do this evaluation.

Electrical Grid we have is more than 50 years old. The integration of information technology to the electric grid system is expected to address many shortcomings of the current and traditional electrical grids that have resulted in Smart Grid which is gaining lot of interest and momentum. In Smart Grid, Power Distribution is one part which requires monitoring and control. Lot of technologies and have been applied in Smart grid towards sensing and action. Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system is very well proven within the substation region. There has been very less monitoring done on the distribution side due to the geographical distribution. Currently, Internet of Things has paved way for connecting huge number of devices to the Internet which would be very much effective and beneficial for power distribution and Automation. So accordingly, an IoT based SCADA integrated with Fog for Distribution Automation system has been proposed which takes care of the consumer utilization, outage management, power quality control and pole transformer health. This is supported by fog computing which does real-time streaming analytics. This helps in reducing the internet bandwidth and latency for immediate control action.

This paper discusses the data security issues and concerns that are prevalent when organizations are moving their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to the cloud. Cloud computing has reinvented how organizations conduct business and has enabled them to innovate and compete in a dynamic environment through new and innovative business models. The growing popularity and success of the cloud has led to the emergence of cloud-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) ERP systems, a new alternative approach to traditional on-premise ERP systems. Cloud-based ERP has a myriad of benefits for organizations. However, infrastructure engineers need to address data security issues before moving their enterprise applications to the cloud. Cloud-based ERP raises specific concerns about the confidentiality and integrity of the data stored in the cloud. Such concerns that affect the adoption of cloud-based ERP are based on the size of the organization. Small to medium enterprises (SMEs) gain the maximum benefits from cloud-based ERP as many of the concerns around data security are not relevant to them. On the contrary, larger organizations are more cautious in moving their mission critical enterprise applications to the cloud. A hybrid solution where organizations can choose to keep their sensitive applications on-premise while leveraging the benefits of the cloud is proposed in this paper as an effective solution that is gaining momentum and popularity for large organizations.

Bodies of Knowledge (BOK) contains the relevant knowledge for a discipline. BOK must embody the consensus reached by the community for which this BOK will be of application. This consensus is a prerequisite for the adoption of the BOK by the community. In this paper, we utilize a combinations of Software Engineering Body of Knowledge (SWEBOK), models representation, and design science methodology in order to describe the software engineering knowledge context (SEC). SWEBOK serves as backbone taxonomy, while models representation provides a context of representation. In the process of develop of this paper science design methodology was used to provide fundamental knowledge in software engineering (SE).

This paper presents the results of a bibliometric study about the evolution of research on Continuous Auditing. This study has as main motivation to find reasons for the very slow evolvement of research on this topic. In addition, Continuous Auditing is one of the features of the emerging concept of Continuous Assurance. Thus, considering that Continuous Assurance represents numerous advantages for the organizational performance, this study also intends to understand if there is a relation between the evolution of research on Continuous Auditing and the still very low maturity levels of continuous assurance solutions. This study shows that the number of publications is considerably reduced and that the slow growth of research on Continuous Auditing may be contributing to the lack of maturity of Continuous Assurance.
