Data on the equivalent (real) number of bits of an analog-to-digital converter (ADC), taking into account its operating conditions, makes it possible to make the optimal choice of ADC at the early stages of designing analog-to-digital control systems. The article shows that the real number of bits is determined by the signal delay times in the ADC and the time sampling frequency of the signals converted into the ADC, which depends on the cutoff frequency of the characteristic of the spectral density of the converted signal. The analysis carried out during the research made it possible to obtain specific dependences of the delay times of the converted signals in the ADCs under consideration. The article gives a comparative assessment of the influence of the time characteristics of three types of sequential ADCs (sequential count, push-pull integration, successive approximation) on the equivalent number of bits of the analog-to-digital conversion process.

The use of indoor positioning systems is becoming a popular method of solving various problems. The use of Wi-Fi technology for positioning tasks is promising because of the cheap and common equipment. The existing fingerprint positioning algorithms using Wi-Fi are characterized by the presence of free parameters, which developers select independently, while not describing how they select these parameters. The goal of the paper is to investigate the influence of free parameters on the positioning accuracy. Three free parameters were selected for the study, the number of measurements used, the step of the reference map grid and the number of nearest neighbors. The analysis of carried experiment showed smallest error of coordinate estimation in the plane is 2 m for the weighted method k nearest neighbors when using one measurement with the highest value of the received signal strength and a grid spacing of 3 meters.

This paper describes the image processing method based on machine vision technologies for automatic analysis of frame sequences that demonstrate combustion process of aluminum nanopowder registered using high-speed digital camera. This method was tested with two following sequences: frames registered using imaging in self-lighting of the combustion process of aluminum nanopowder and frames registered using imaging with laser illumination of the same process as well. For image processing a set of different combinations of methods was applied to compute the binarization threshold. This approach allows to get valuable pixels; therefore, it has been used to highlight the combustion area on the sample images. The obtained results of the proposed imaging and data processing methods implemented by the research team that was applied on video records of high-energy material combustion process. These results demonstrates that the technique may be in high demand for issues related to the automatizing researches of high temperature combustion process and to obtain significant data about the process such as propagation speed of the combustion front, boundaries determination of the low-temperature and high-temperature combustion stages, identification of the process characteristic features. The future researches will be focused on the design and implementation of data processing pipelines and the processing of complex frame sequences of the multicomponent compositions combustion process.

Electricity theft is a widespread issue that has a negative impact on both electricity users and utility businesses. Smart meters record energy usage at hourly or daily frequency, creating time series which can help in fraud spotting. This study utilizes a daily consumption dataset given by State Grid Corporation of China to detect electricity fraud with mediocre class imbalance. Most of the existing studies either try to maximize the models detection quality with complex neural network architectures by sacrificing interpretability or try to extract handcrafted meaningful predictors while losing accuracy. In this work the authors proposed a method capable of providing high explainability while still preserving competitive detection quality of 0.896 ROC-AUC and 0.972 MAP@100. The key contribution of this paper is reformulating the original classification problem into time series segmentation problem with the help of attention maps. New labeling is acquired by averaging decision paths from random forest models. The authors also investigate different pitfalls during validation which can lead to overly optimistic estimates of models quality.

The article is devoted to the study of modes maintaining issues of the energy system in the presence of large generation facilities based on renewable energy sources. The object of the study was a source of generation of electric energy on organic fuel located in the unified power system of the South of Russia, which is operating in combination with a compressed air energy storage (CAES) for operation in peak generation mode. The calculation of the operating characteristics of the combined heat and power plant (CHP) was carried out using the information and analytical platform "EMAS.OPT". The platform is based on the creation of digital models of industrial enterprises for subsequent optimization of equipment operating modes according to the criterion of profit maximization. The results of the calculation of various operation modes of the power plant are presented and the use of this combination is evaluated based on technical and economic indicators.

In optical instrumentation, one of the tasks is to estimate the instrumental error of existing and developing measurement systems. There are two main approaches to solving this problem: theoretical estimation, physical and computer simulation. This paper presents an approach to computer simulation of an optical system for measuring the position of a freely rotating platform. The simulation was performed in the Unity3D environment. It consisted of generating synthetic images of a freely rotating platform at different positions with defined parameters. The measurement error was determined by comparing the positions measured on the synthesised images with the positions given in the simulation. The paper presents the dependence of the measurement error on the image processing parameters and on the position of the virtual camera relative to the rotating platform obtained in the simulation.

Often, for interference-suppressing filters, the parameters of the developed product do not correspond to the theoretically predicted ones. Mainly, it is caused by incorrect analysis of the design of the filter, which does not take into account many parasitic elements that reduce the filtration efficiency. In this article, the influence of parasitic parameters of components and fasteners on the frequency response of the filter is considered. Equivalent circuits and series-connected transformers in short-circuit mode were used for approximation. The simulation was performed in the frequency range from 10 kHz to 1 GHz. The filter parameters were modeled in QUCS simulator software. Based on the simulation results, recommendations were given for optimizing the filter mounting elements and changing the inductance of low-frequency chokes.

The rapidly increasing global population and restricted competence from the non-renewable resource supply have led to the rising demand for energy. So, the focus of research has shifted to diversify energy sources, minimize harmful emissions into the atmosphere and prioritize renewable energy sources. This article gives an overview of solar technology used in the energy industry. It also provides information on the current state of Bangladesh’s energy sector, as well as the country’s climatic characteristics, and the potential of implementing hybrid solar technologies in the country. The work considered a model of a solar aided power generation plant (SAPG) with parabolic trough collectors and analyzed the efficiency of such power plants. The integrated use of a combined cycle plant and a solar steam generator for power generation (ISCC) is also presented with an overview and analysis. Both power plant models were simulated using THERMOFLEX software.

In this paper, a digital acoustic model of pressurizer (DAMP) for the VVER-440 is verified. A new method for calculating acoustic standing waves (ASW) generated in the pressurizer as a whole, its parts and pipelines connected to it has been developed and the calculated values of the ASW frequencies were consistent with the measured readings of the pressure pulsation sensors (PPS) signals. Calculations were made according to the formula of Thomson using the electroacoustic analogy method using the acoustic compliance and acoustic mass of the pressurizer and various combinations of pipelines connected to it. It is concluded that the calculated ASW frequencies depend on the operating conditions of the installation and can fall into the same frequency band of the pressurizer as a whole, its parts and associated pipelines. At the same time, the acoustic properties of the compensator and various combinations of pipelines connected to it turned out to be the same as those of a set of Helmholtz resonators operating at the same time.
