The environmental ethics criticizes the logic of utilitarian nature, which does not consider the intrinsic value of the nature. Therefore, it is necessary to attach scientific advances and other technological areas to ethic principles. The main objective of this study is to analyze concepts and theoretical perspectives, in attempt to evidence connections between environmental ethics, ecopedagogy and conservation biology. This study is characterized as a qualitative research. The method adopted is a literature review and a conceptual ordering according to authors and actions. In addition, the hypothetical-deductive method was used, and the content analysis. It was observed that predatory mentality originates ecological ethic discussions, and that environmental ethic is the origin of the need to conserve nature, the only coherent position about preserving the environment. This study pointed that ethic discussions will never stop being anthropological, but need to stop being anthropocentric. As soon, the ecological ethic should be biocentric, in which central objective is life and the value of the nature for itself. This perspective of human being isolation from rest of the world must be substituted by a holistic point of view. Therefore, the ecopedagogy is a system that can make possible sustainable transformations in society, breaking through anthropocentric perspectives, developing the planetary citizenship. It demonstrates correlation between ecopedagogy, conservation and sustainability. It concludes that there is necessity to develop education projects related to this specific perspective. There is also the need to create ethic legal systems witch interconnect the presented concepts.

This paper aims to report the experience of students of an elementary school in a didactic sequence, with the purpose of understanding the importance of healthy eating. We apply several teaching methodologies, such as concept maps, video, lecture, research activity, exercise resolution and scientific dissemination, in an attempt to know the relevance of nutrients and their functions in the human body, from their insertion in multiple contexts of the research. Food and Nutrition Education. The use of various teaching practices allowed students to insert in propositions to change their mistaken opinions about food, since they knew public policies to promote healthy eating, acquired/altered scientific perceptions of nutrients and disseminated their knowledge to the community. Thus, such actions are considered relevant to the acquisition of knowledge of students for application in society and also for the accumulation of formative experiences to the teacher.

Species of the Leptodactylidae family occur frequently in Caatinga domain areas of Brazil where the rainfall distribution pattern influences the energetic activity as well as the reproduction of these individuals. Therefore, the objective of this research was to analyze how the effects of seasonality affect the energy metabolism and, consequently, the reproductive processes of Leptodactylus macrosternum. Thirty two adult males were collected in Caatinga area, in the Horto Florestal Olho D’água da Bica, Cuité, Paraíba, from January to December 2013. Small fragments of testicles from the animals were removed and sent to the histological routine. The quantification of proteins and carbohydrates deposited in animal testicles were statistically analyzed. Protein quantification values were highlighted for the animals collected during July (700 pixels), while carbohydrate levels were higher during June, July, August, September and December, ranging from 350 and 400 pixels. Regarding rainfall and temperature, significant differences were observed, r=0.01; p=0.03 and r=0.02; p=0.04, respectively, on the amount of carbohydrates deposited in the L. macrosternum testes.

This study aimed to evaluate the functional capacity and risk of falls to which the elderly are prone in the home environment. This is a population-based epidemiological study, quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional, carried out in the family health strategies of the City of Cândido Sales – Ba, with 155 individuals. A questionnaire was used as a collection instrument to compose the sociodemographic profile, the MEEM, the Katz index and the Lawton-Brody scale. Data were analyzed with inferential and descriptive statistics from the Statistical Package for Social software. In the profile of the elderly, there was a predominance of age up to 79 years 78.7%, female prevalence 65.8%, singles 52.3%, not literate 59.4%, with family income of up to a minimum wage 57.4%. In the evaluation of functional dependence, the basic activities 95.5% had moderate dependence, and in instrumental activities 93.5% had partial dependence. Regarding falls, 70.3% were classified at a high risk in the home environment. It was found that the elderly have functional dependencies either in basic or instrumental activities, and that they are prone to a high risk of falls in the home environment. The study enabled an analysis of the elderly population regarding the risk of falls, while providing possibilities for discussions about aging and its implications for human beings.
