At the end of 2021, the public was shocked by the viral rape case of 13 female Islamic boarding school students in Bandung by Herry Wirawan and has quickly seized public attention. The news was first published on December 9, 2021, by several online media, including Detik.com and Republika.co.id. This study aims to find out the framing of two online media reporting the news of the rape case of Herry Wirawan against his students. The paper uses the Zhongdang Pan & Gerald M. Kosicki framing model, which explores the media framing of syntactic, script, thematic and rhetorical structures. This study uses the constructivist paradigm and qualitative research as methods. The result of this study finds that despite Detik.com aggressively reporting the case, the news looks neutral. There is no tendency to cover up rape cases involving the name of the Islamic boarding school nor to judge the perpetrators explicitly. Although there is no term for neutral journalism, Detik.com presents the title, writes the news in smooth language, is packaged straightforwardly and carefully, and tends to be impartial. Compared to Republika.co.id, who frames the news in a more aggressive approach. It is portrayed from the explicit statements in the news presented, cornering the perpetrators for dragging and tarnishing the image of the Islamic boarding school for their rape case. It appears that Republika.co.id, with its Islamic ideology, is trying to uphold the truth of the facts concerning the views of religious people on the rape case that has occurred.
2021年12月9日,包括Detik.com和Republika.co.id在内的多家网络媒体首次发布了这一消息。

With the existence of open data, journalists have additional investigative tools to report on issues in the public interest and to hold the government to account. However, it remains outside the mainstream of journalism due to the limitation to access and work with data. The open data initiative in Indonesia has started since 2010. Adhering to UU No. 14 Tahun 2008 about Public Information Openness, Indonesia has implemented an open data portal, called Satu Data Indonesia in 2019. There are indeed a handful of studies that examine the implementation of open data portals in Indonesia. However, only a few studies have given attention to how data journalists are using these data and their perceptions about the quality of data provided by the government. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach and collects data through semi-structured in-depth interviews. It is intended to see the process on how data journalists in Indonesia turn data to news stories. By studying Lokadata.id and Katadata.co.id, we found that data provided by the authority sources (government) are still the main sources for data journalists in Indonesia. Despite the fact that the quality of data is getting better, most journalists in this study argued that the government’s open data has not yet integrated and has no basic standard that is collectively used. Therefore, the verification process and data processing in each media is important. The most common ways that journalists use to verify the data are by exploring the raw data, contacting the institution that provided the data, and considering the reputation of the data sources. However, there is a tendency of data journalists to be passively relying on official sources and ‘hide behind’ the perceived credibility of their sources.
id和Katadata.co。

The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the motives of Sumedang residents in consuming Sumedang Ekspres as their primary mass media. People in the Sumedang region, West Java, are significant to examine because of their unique characteristics in using mass media. They are among the few who still rely on print newspapers for news, especially Sumedang Ekspres, in the age of online media. That is the main reason for looking at their motivation in consuming this newspaper as their primary source of information. This study used quantitative research methods with explanatory case studies, using questionnaires as instruments for collecting data. Theoretically, the audience's needs would be satisfied if their motives in consuming media were met. As a result, certain media that can fulfill the needs will be considered effective outlets. This is a basic assumption of the Uses and Gratifications Theory, which is employed as a theoretical basis of this study. The sample in this study was 95 respondents, taken from residents of Sumedang who consume Sumedang Ekspres on regular basis. The results show that the informational motive, as well as social motive, were implemented moderately by the respondents in terms of consuming Sumedang Ekspres as the major media. It is recommended to conduct further research by looking at the impact of people's motives toward newspaper reading satisfaction.

Journalists are expected to be responsible for fulfilling the public interest in information as well as the demands of media companies. Excessive jobs could have positive and negative impacts on journalists, affecting the increase and decrease of journalists' performance. The job demands can demonstrate the performance or achievements of journalists; the higher the journalists can manage their time well; the journalist performance will increase. This study aims to confirm the sub-dimensional pictures of the variables of job demands and performance of journalists and whether job demands significantly affect the performance of journalists. The method used in this research is quantitative with descriptive analysis and verification. Analytical techniques are used to validate tests, reliability, normality, autocorrelation, and heterodedensity. The hypotheses test uses a simple regression linear test, signification partial (t statistical test), and determination. As a result, the researchers concluded: 1) The work demands of the Pikiran Rakyat Newspaper Journalists did not stress the journalists, and the workload and the work environment were considered good. The demands of work also do not affect the performance of journalists, so the quality of writing, quantity, timeliness, effectiveness, and independence are classified as good. 2) There is a significant positive effect of about 50.7% between the influence of Job Demands on the Performance of Journalists in the Pikiran Rakyat Newspaper. This means that the demands of work do not affect nor make the performance of journalists decrease. However, intrinsic and extrinsic factors can affect the decline of journalists' performance.

The Indonesian National Badminton team is one of the most successful national teams in international competition. Such success has brought a significant contribution to Indonesian national pride. However, in terms of popularity, this sport is less popular when compared to football. Consequently, there are only a few Indonesian sports media that specializes in reporting and discussing badminton. This study aims to determine the newsroom management of badminton media in Indonesia, in particular Majalah Bulutangkis and bulutangkis.com. Newsroom management is an important element in mass media. This study uses the qualitative method, with interviews as data collecting techniques. The informants are editors-in-chief from bulutangkis.com and Majalah Bulutangkis. In general, the results of the study show that both media regularly cover badminton tournaments participated by Indonesian badminton players. News related to events outside the field is also presented, including the side story related to badminton to keep the readers from being bored. From an organizational perspective, both media are experiencing a lack quantity of journalists, so they use freelance contributors or recruit volunteers. In practice, both media use websites as a platform to provide information and the Readers Forum to build interaction with their readers as well as invite readers to submit articles. This condition causes both media to be less active in maintaining their social media accounts. The evaluation stage is carried out by looking at the accuracy of the information and the use of language.

At the beginning of 2021, the Democratic Party was burdened by the coup issue with the Extraordinary Congress (KLB) initiated by Jhoni Allen Marbun and company who produced the new Chairman of the Democratic Party, Moeldoko. The culmination of the Democratic Party leadership takeover case occurred when Minister Yasonna Laoly officially mentioned that the Democratic Party KLB had submitted the results of the KLB led by Jhoni Allen Marbun (one of the initiators of KLB). News of the coup carried out by Moeldoko against the Democratic Party has been widely highlighted by the mass media, especially online media such as Detik.com and Okezone.com. The study aimed to find out how the two media outlets framed the news of the Democratic Party coup case between Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) and Moeldoko, researchers using Zhongdang Pan & Gerald M. Kosicki framing looked at the framing of syntactic, script, thematic and rhetorical structures. Researchers use the consumerist paradigm and qualitative research methods. Research results showed that Detik.com emphasized on cornering the Moeldoko party where the Democratic Party coup carried out by Moeldoko's side was wrong and not right from the legal side, and many featured sources that were pro-AHY. Meanwhile, Okezone.com is more balanced and bolder in conveying criticism to Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) so the two online media both Detik.com and Okezone.com have different ways of building opinions and perceptions of readers by looking at the issue of the coup carried out by the Moeldoko camp against the leadership of the Democratic Party and adjusting to what each of the media wants.

Convergence occurs because of the development of the internet, social media, and digital technology. In the realm of journalism, convergence refers to the practice of producing, distributing, and consuming content for multiple platforms in the form of text, photos, and videos by a single newsroom. The development of technology then gave birth to many disturbances and possibilities. Convergence challenges the media industry's already stable business model to adapt to changes. The purpose of this study is to discuss and compare how the adaptation and application of convergence that the local media "Pikiran Rakyat" and AyoBandung.com have tried to use using convergence theory in Rich Gordon's media organization. This research uses a case study method with a comparative qualitative approach that tries to explain how the application of convergence to "Pikiran Rakyat" and AyoBandung.com and compares how the two media put it into practice. The results showed that; the ownership of "Pikiran Rakyat" and AyoBandung.com adapted convergence by creating media groups and targeting local media as branches or media partners; on tactics, "Pikiran Rakyat" and AyoBandung.com cooperate in news creation with branches or partners and other media, both media focus on programmatic advertising as a source of income; on the structure, "Pikiran Rakyat" and AyoBandung.com implement newsroom 3.0; in gathering information, the journalists of Pikiran Rakyat and AyoBandung.com in carrying out their coverage only required to bring a smartphone; at the presentation, "Pikiran Rakyat" and AyoBandung.com carried out the action of packaging content to various platforms.

March 2020 became the beginning of a global phenomenon for global citizens when the World Health Organization (WHO) designated it as an “extraordinary event” that became known as the COVID-19 pandemic. More media, especially social media, are reporting on issues related to the pandemic. This research aims to analyze the important role of new media as a new tool that is applied during the current pandemic, using qualitative descriptive methods. The research results show that in this pandemic era, the use of new media has become a new “habit”. Every day, community activities, starting from work and schooling, have used new media, such as online channels that can support work or school activities as if done face-to-face. Currently, there are a number of activities carried out by the community using new media such as the Zoom Meeting application, Google Meet, IG Live, Youtube, WhatsApp Video, IG Video, and even other applications that may be custom-made by several company agencies to support the continued running of activities, in times of this pandemic. So, it can be concluded that current activities by the community during a pandemic era such as Work from Home (WFH) or School from Home (SFH), has become a pattern of cultural change in the society during a pandemic.

Every day, community activities, starting from work and schooling, have used new media, such as online channels that can support work or school activities as if done face-to-face. Currently, there are a number of activities carried out by the community using new media such as the Zoom Meeting application, Google Meet, IG Live, Youtube, WhatsApp Video, IG Video, and even other applications that may be custom-made by several company agencies to support the continued running of activities, in times of this pandemic. So, it can be concluded that current activities by the community during a pandemic era such as Work from Home (WFH) or School from Home (SFH), has become a pattern of cultural change in the society during a pandemic.","PeriodicalId":365742,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Kajian Jurnalisme","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121674020","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
