This article is intended as a contribution to the celebration of the eighth centenary of the Later Rule of St. Francis (Nov. 29, 1223) and analyzes its inspirational force in our secularized society. This is one of the four great Rules of consecrated life. It is not only a juridical text, but also a spiritual document, a guide “to live according to the pattern of the Holy Gospel” (part 1). Those in authority must be at the service of this vital process, acting as mothers who take care of life (part 2). The third part presents the Rule’s current relevance and the need of an inspiring leadership that promotes processes of transformation to address the present challenges of religious life. En este trabajo se pretende abordar el papel de los pobres a través de los diferentes escritos conservados en la obra de Cipriano de Cartago. Para ello, se realizará un recorrido en profundidad por los principales vestigios escritos referentes a los huérfanos, las viudas, los moribundos o las personas necesitadas en general, sobre las cuales incide colectivamente el obispo cartaginés a través de su vasta obra, empezando, en primer lugar, por sus cartas a los miembros más importantes de la Iglesia católica del siglo III, y pasando, a continuación, por obras aparentemente menos conocidas, como De Opere et eleemosynis o De Mortalitate, escritos todos ellos que, además de beber directamente del contexto histórico persecutorio llevado a cabo contra los cristianos por el Imperio romano, recogen testimonios de la actitud de los cristianos ante el estallido de una plaga que asoló el orbe romano durante diez largos años. Abstract: The aim of this paper is to explore the role of the poor through the different writings preserved in the work of Cyprian of Carthage. To this end, an in-depth survey will be made of the main traces of writings referring to orphans, widows, the dying and the needy in general, on whom the Carthaginian bishop had a collective influence through his vast oeuvre, starting firstly with his letters to the most important members of the Catholic Church in the 3rd century, and subsequently moving on to apparently less known works, such as De Opere et eleemosynis or De Mortalitate. These are all writings which, in spite of drawing directly from the historical context of persecution carried out against Christians by the Roman Empire, contain testimonies of the attitude of Christians to the outbreak of a plague which devastated the Roman orb for ten long years.

Se atiende aquí a la importancia del factor religioso e ideológico, sistematizándose la diversidad de empresas coloniales privadas, impulsoras de granjas y talleres comunitarios, que facilitaron el desarrollo e integración del país. Se compara su gestión en términos de eficiencia y sostenibilidad. De este modo es posible explicar la paradoja de las utopías estadounidenses, según la cual, las últimas empresas en constituirse, que fueron las ideológicas, pese a contar con mayor capital, fueron las primeras en extinguirse, mientras que las religiosas, llegaron hasta la segunda revolución industrial y algunas hasta hoy. Abstract: This is a critical-hermeneutical and historical-comparative study of Political Economy, Economic History and Social Thought, applying heterodox approaches, to review the process of colonization of the American West and refute the mainstream view based on reductionism and the assumption of a set of errors. Attention is paid here to the importance of the religious and ideological factor, systematizing the diversity of private colonial companies, promoters of communitarian farms and workshops, which facilitated the development and integration of the country. Its management is compared in terms of efficiency and sustainability. In this way, it is possible to explain the paradox of American utopias, according to which the last companies to be established, which were the ideological ones, despite having more capital, were the first to become extinct, while the religious ones reached the second industrial revolution and some until today.

In light of Pope Francis' Encyclical Laudato Si' I will defend the necessity and urgency of implementing an ecoculture in such a way that it is possible to live the present and look to the future beyond the fear of destruction. The happy dream for the human family, as described in Laudato Si', will mean breaking free from the chains of the paradigm of fear, where having takes precedence over being and, consequently, leads to the agony of the whole Creation in a spiral of survival, where the fullness of life has no place. Ecoculture will make possible a sobriety that is able, without despair or fatalism, to develop an action of compassion for Creation - a compassion in which the human being understands himself as an integral part of Creation, suffering with it whenever destruction is victorious. In an ecoculture, human beings reassume their original role in Creation, abandoning all ambitions and attempts at superiority, but rather seeking the common good of Creation, in which technical progress, policies, and social relations are allies in safeguarding the common home and never sacrificers of integral ecology.

Partiendo del pensamiento de Martin Heidegger, el filósofo francés está imponiendo repensar el propio discurso teológico a partir de la distinción que establecen ambos autores entre teología y teiología. We conclude, along with Marion, that theology forces us to think of God outside of metaphysics and, because of that, outside of the being of beings. God can only be thought—without falling into idolatry—by being thought of as a gift, as the Agape who is given to men.

La presente contribución tiene como objetivo principal examinar el valor de la jurisprudencia y ofrecer una reflexión para determinar si las funciones que le son atribuidas por el ordenamiento canónico, le revisten de obligatoriedad, y si en consecuencia, deben los tribunales eclesiásticos de las Iglesias Particulares resolver las causas de acuerdo a los mismos criterios aplicados por el Tribunal de la Rota Romana. En este sentido, es conveniente empezar por exponer el concepto de jurisprudencia y analizar detenidamente las funciones que le son otorgadas por el legislador; tales como la interpretación y la suplencia en caso de lacuna legis. Abstract: The present contribution aims to examine the value of jurisprudence and to offer a reflection to determine whether the functions attributed to it by the canonical legislation, endow it with obligatory nature, and whether consequently, the ecclesiastical tribunals of the particular churches, ought to resolve the causes according to the same criteria applied by the Tribunal of the Roman Rota. In this sense, it is convenient to begin by explaining the concept of jurisprudence and by analyzing in detail, the functions granted by the legislator, such as a mean for interpreting the law and as a source to supply in case of lacuna legis.

El presente trabajo pretende estudiar la gestión que el cabildo catedralicio de Mallorca realizaba de las casas canonicales que destinaba a residencia de los canónigos durante la Edad Media. A partir de las fuentes del propio archivo capitular, se ha podido documentar la normativa que regulaba la concesión de las casas, así como los problemas que hubo en su aplicación, que se explican por las necesidades habitacionales y los intereses personales. Además, el cabildo controló las reformas que se llevaban a cabo en las residencias canonicales, aunque estas fueron financiadas por los propios canónigos. Todo ello ha permitido aproximarse a la vida cotidiana de los prebendados y comprender el funcionamiento de las casas canonicales y la participación del cabildo en el mercado inmobiliario. Abstract: The present work intends to study how the cathedral chapter of Majorca arranged the canonical houses destined to accommodate the cathedral canons during the Middle Ages. Based on the sources of the chapter archive, it was possible to document the rules that regulate the concession of the houses and the problems in their application, which could be explained by housing necessities and personal interests. Moreover, the chapter controlled the refurbishment made in the canonical houses, although the canons funded the works. All of that permitted an approach to the prebendaries’ daily life and understanding the system of canonical houses and the chapter’s participation in the Majorcan housing market.
