In Tanzania government has abolished school fees and build more infrastructures in these schools the performance of these public schools is still poor. This study examined the effectiveness of monetary rewards on work commitment among teachers in rural public secondary schools in Rombo district in Tanzania. The study was guided by four specific objectives namely: to determine the influence of salary on teachers’ commitment in rural public secondary schools; to examine the influence of overtime payment on teachers work commitment in rural public secondary schools; to examine the influence of bonus on teachers work commitment in rural public secondary schools; lastly to determine the influence of house allowance on teachers work commitment in rural public secondary schools. The study employed Frederick Herzberg’s two factor theory. The study employed mixed approach where both qualitative and quantitative approached were used in the study. Moreover, the study employed cross-sectional survey research design. Also, the study employed 157 respondents. Data collection tools were Questionnaire, Interview and Documentary review. Probability and non-probability sampling approaches were deployed where simple random and purposive techniques were used. Qualitative and quantitative data analysis approaches were deployed using content analysis and SPSS, respectively. The findings shows that basic salary and overtime payment have significant influence on work commitment among teachers. While bonus, and house allowance have no significant influence on work commitment among teachers. The study concludes that there is a lot of dissatisfaction among teachers in public secondary schools due to low payment of salary and lack of other remunerations. The study recommends that the welfare of teachers needs to be significantly improved, teacher benefits regarding overtime allowances, need to be clarified, known to all and made available on time and by government so as to motivate them in their works. Also, this study recommends further research on monetary rewards because it is difficult to reach generalization as the study was conducted in Rombo district with small number of populations. For this matter the research may be investigated further in other location.

The technological advancement makes it imperative for organisations to run human resources processes online. This paper examines the effectiveness of e recruitment most especially on its appropriateness in selecting the best candidates since the method does not provide the room for personal touch. The study employed cross sectional research design with the target population of 420 HR Officers from the Tanzanian Roads Authority (TANROAD), Tanzania mainland. The researcher used systematic sampling technique to obtain pre-determined 40 sample size. The findings indicate that, many organisations in Tanzania do not use e recruitment due to poor ICT infrastructures, unreliable electricity power, wrong perception of recruiters on e recruitment and some weaknesses associated with e recruitment method. The findings indicated further that, e recruitment compromises objectivity since there are some attributes like emotional intelligence, confidence, body language that cannot be captured when conducting e recruitment. The study recommends the use of e recruitment by the employing organisations since its advantages outweigh the disadvantages. This can be achieved by changing the mindsets of recruiters and investing more in ICT facilities.

Matching product, process or strategy innovation strategies to the emerging exogenous or endogenous business situations minimises a firm’s vulnerability in the wake of the increasingly more precarious business world. However, it is often the mismatch between such strategies which is often a major hurdle of most of the contemporary businesses. To address such innovation strategy mismatches, it is argued in this conceptual paper that it is not only synchronisation of product innovation with relevant process and strategy innovation strategies that would leverage a firm’s superior market performance, but also matching relevant product, process and strategy innovation strategies to the diagnosed exogenous and endogenous business situations. In exogenous business situations characterised by intense industry rivalries or market saturation, the application of a combination of product and strategy innovation strategies would enable a business avoid vulnerability to the increasing spate of destructive rivalries by creating new products to tape opportunities in new markets and render irrelevant the competition in the existing markets. However, in cases of frequent sporadic destructive competitors’ actions causing proliferation of enormous disruptive innovations, the use of a combination of product, process and strategy innovation strategies would enable a business create superior value offerings in conjunction with gaming-motivated cooperation and strategic alliances with rivals to recreate the existing industry conditions and circumstances to its advantages. That contrasts with the circumstances where a business is experiencing significant shifts in customer tastes and preferences. In such situations, the use of product and strategy innovation strategies would integrate new value offerings in the existing products to reverse the shifts in customer tastes and preferences. However, in endogenous situations, quests for growth would require the use of a combination of product, process and strategy innovation strategies as contrasted with cases of quests for costs’ minimisation where only the use of process and strategy innovation strategies would be required. It also contrasts with differentiation quests where only product and process innovation strategies would be critical for aiding a firm to achieve its business credo.

This paper investigated the availability of multimedia instructional technologies for entrepreneurship training of Office Technology and Management (OTM) students of polytechnics in South-East Nigeria. One research question was posed and one corresponding null hypothesis formulated for testing at 0.05 level of significance.Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study and 86 Office Technology and Management (OTM) lecturers in both Federal- and State-owned polytechnics in South-East, Nigeria that offer entrepreneurship courses were studied without sampling. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection. The reliability of the instrument was established though trial-testing and calculation using Cronbach alpha method that yielded a correlation coefficient of 0.78. Data collected were analyzed using frequency count and percentages, mean, standard deviation, Chi-square and t-test. The results showed that majority (56%) of multimedia instructional technologies were not available in OTM departments for entrepreneurship training of OTM students. The findings also revealed that ownership of the institutions was not a significant factor on the availability of audio, visual and audio-visual instructional technologies for entrepreneurship training of OTM students in polytechnics in South-East Nigeria. Based on the findings, the researcher concluded that OTM students in polytechnics in South East Nigeria were taught entrepreneurship without necessary and required multimedia instructional technologies and this affected their entrepreneurship success upon graduation. It was recommended among others that Federal and State governments should support polytechnics in Nigeria to procure multimedia instructional technologies since their acquisition is cost intensive and cannot be procured by OTM Departments of the institutions.

The Right to legal Counsel is a basic right of human rights as provided under different international, regional and National instruments as crucial elements of rights to fair trial. The presence of counsel serves multiple purposes, including the Redress of the power imbalance between the authorities and the detained (particularly in terms of knowledge of the law), deterrence of torture and other ill-treatment capacity to address arbitrary or improperly justified detention, and ability to provide an alternative record of interviews to ensure the integrity of any evidence gathered. In many Jurisdictions the confession obtained in absence of lawyers are inadmissible as criminal evidences. In Ethiopia, the Defendant/accused person to assist by legal counsel is a constitutional rights givens by our laws at National level and at different Regional state level. However practically what we have seen in area of our courts, police custody, prison the place where this right has been implemented is allegedly different from what is said by law. In some circumstance, even the law by itself seems to be incompatible with practical application of this right. Such disparity and gap of the law and the practice regarding this defendant right has great impact on the fair trial. The inadmissibility of evidence obtained in absence of legal counsel did not provided by Ethiopian laws. Even when the detained/arrested/ person can get the legal counsel ( at what time?) by itself is not clear. This in turn begs different question among legal professionals regarding the admissibility or inadmissibility of evidence obtained in absence of legal counsel. This article try to identify the position of our laws, consult different jurisprudences of the other model country and gives clue for the criminal lawyers and legal professionals as to the respection of the rights to legal counsel as basic fair trial. And inadmissibility of any evidence obtained in absence of legal counsel since it has irretrievable effects on the defense rights.

This study determined the application of place and promotion marketing strategies to library and information services in Nigerian public universities in Anambra State, Nigeria. Two research questions and two null hypotheses guided the study. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. Seventy Nine librarians and library officers in public universities in Anambra State were studied without sampling. Structured questionnaire validated by three experts was used for data collection. The reliability of the instrument was done through trial testing and data analysis using Cronbach alpha yielded correlation coefficients of 0.78 and 0.82 for clusters B1 to B2 with an overall coefficient of 0.80. Mean, standard deviation and t-test were used for data analysis using Special Package for Social sciences (SPSS) version 23.0. Findings revealed that librarians and library officers agreed that they applied majority of the items listed on place and promotion marketing strategies to library and information services. However, they disagreed that most of the items on place as a marketing strategy are applied in this regard. Ownership of university did not significantly influence respondents’ mean ratings on application of place and promotion marketing strategies in library and information services. The researcher concluded that librarians and library officers do not adequately apply place and promotion marketing strategies to library and information services. It was recommended among others that; library management in public universities should expose librarians to marketing library services through capacity building programmes to up-date their skills in the application place and promotion marketing strategies to library and information services.
