In the present study to assess the effect of reminiscence therapy on psychological well-being, depression, and loneliness among elderly in selected old age homes of Mysore. a non-equivalent pre-test and post-test control group quasi experimental design was adopted. The samples were selected by adopting the non-probability convenience sampling technique. The sample consisted of 70 elderly staying in selected old age homes of Mysore, out of which 35 each in experimental and control group. The tool used for the data collection was Standardized geriatric depression scale to assess depression, Standardized Affect balance scale to measure psychological well-being, and Standardized UCLA loneliness scale to assess loneliness. On day1, 2, & 3 psychological well-being, depression, and loneliness were pre tested both in experimental and control group. On day 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, &14 the reminiscence therapy were administered to experimental group. On day 22, 23, &24 post test was conducted respectively in both groups. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse the data . Findings of the study revealed that there is a significant reduction in the post test mean depression, and loneliness scores of elderly in experimental group than the control group as evident from the ‘t’ value 5.365, and 9.268 with post-test df ‘t’(68) at 0.05 level of significance, and also there is a significant gain in the post test mean psychological score of elderly in experimental group than the control group as evident from the ‘t’ value 4.763 with post-test df ‘t’(68) at 0.05 level of significance. There was no significant association found between psychological well-being, depression, and loneliness of elderly in old age homes and their selected personal variables viz. age, gender, marital status, education level, income, visits by family members and other chronic medical illness. The findings revealed that, pre-test depression, and loneliness scores of elderly

According to the world cancer report 2017 about 5.37 lakh Indian women got Breast cancer in 2012 and was a leading cause of death among women between age group of 20 and 59 years worldwide. Among Kashmiri women breast cancer is the second leading cancer after esophageal cancer, with an incidence rate of 12.6 per 100,000 women. The study was conducted with the aim to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding breast self examination among FMPHW Ist year students at Ramzan institute of paramedical sciences, Gulshan nagar, A quantitative pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test design was adopted to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding breast self examination among FMPHW Ist year students at Ramzan institute of paramedical sciences, nagar, Kashmir. Convenient sampling technique was used to collect data from FMPHW Ist year students using self administered structured knowledge questionnaire. The data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics and the results of the study revealed that there was significant difference between pre test and post-test knowledge scores regarding breast self- examination among FMPHW Ist year students i:e the mean posttest knowledge score (31.9± 2.86) was higher than pre-test knowledge score (16.8 ± 3.50), which shows the effectiveness of structured teaching programme.

Assessment of effect of oromotor stimulation on feeding performance and weight gain in selected hospitals, Kolkata. Introduction: According to WHO, every year about 15 million babies are born prematurely around the world. Almost 1 million children die each year due to complication of preterm birth (2013). In India, out of 27 million babies born every year (2010 data), 3.5 million babies are premature. Oral feeding difficulties are almost common in preterm neonates. Coordinated suck-swallow-breath pattern is not developed under 34 weeks of gestational age. So most of the preterm neonates are not able to have an independent feeding in that due time. Aims: 1. To assess the effect of oromotor stimulation in the interventional group. 2. To compare the effect of oromotor stimulation between interventional group and the control group. Design: Non probability purposive sampling technique was used to collect data from sixty preterm babies (30 in interventional group and 30 in control group) with the help of standardized IBFAT ( Infant Breast Feeding assessment tool) & weight checking proforma. Inter rater reliability for IBFAT (r = 0.92) & Weighing machine used for weight checking (r = 0.93) was done. Pretest posttest time series design was adopted. Demographic data (gestational age , birth weight , age of day of 1st intervention) was collected from each baby. Results: Results revealed the significant difference in pre and post interventional breast feeding performance and weight of preterm babies between day 1 and day 7 in the experimental group as computed ‘t’ value 30.91[ (df 29) =2.71, p Conclusion: Oromotor stimulation is effective in improving feeding performance and weight gain of preterm baby. Implication: In practice, oromotor stimulation can be practiced by nurse. The mothers of those preterm babies also can be taught this oromotor stimulation for practicing this method. In education, students may be provided with learning experiences in neonatal units and prac

Nursing documentation is that the record of medical care that's planned and delivered to individual clients by qualified nurses or other caregivers under the direction of a professional nurse. It contains information in accordance with the steps of the nursing process. It constitutes an integral a part of the nurse’s daily work. Meticulous nursing documentation is a crucial a part of patient care. The delivery of excellent care and therefore the ability to speak effectively about patient care depends on the standard of data available to all or any health care professionals. One important a part of this information is nursing documentation in medical care plans. Aim of the Study: to gauge the effectiveness of documentation of Patient education process using Nursing audit at Sagar Hospital, Bangalore. Materials and Methods: The case records were chosen by simple systematic sampling method and every file was analysed employing a structured check list. the whole data were combined into one result for the whole excel sheet. Concurrent patient education form review within the case record were analysed employing a Structured checklist during 1st Nov 2018 to 31st OCT 2019 (12months). Care file were selected employing a simple Systemic Sampling Technique and about 50% of admissions were included within the study and 4317(53.38%) of the entire admission. Results: Totally compliant were 3726 (86.30%), partially compliant were 399 (9.24%) and non-compliant were 192 (4.44%). the very best compliance of documentation was seen in safe parenting practices, immunization and disease specific information (99.30%). the smallest amount compliance was seen in pain management and documentation 443 (partially and non-compliant category constitutes 11.07%. Data also revealed compliance with disease specific information 99%, medication management 99%, hand hygiene was 91%, pain assessment 81%, fall prevention 62%, pressure ulcer prevention 12%, Immunization 9%.
