The COVID-19 pandemic is equally effecting the adult population and the children’s in terms of mental health. Children’s are more susceptible to develop mental health problems as they are in the developmental stage of life. Anxiety, frustrations, impairment of sleep, feeling of helplessness is the common presentations of children during this pandemic outbreak. The health related quality of life has also been deteriorated owing to home confinement and less physical activities. The ongoing situation is quite incongruent with their developmental stage. Children’s are unable to go to school, isolated from their peer group, affecting their healthy development of the brain. It is also evident that the screen time is also gradually increasing which also contributes the brain development in a negative way. It is an important task to monitor the children’s mental and emotional health in this crucial period. Parents and care takers should understand this challenging environmental situation, which may have a devastating effect on their children’s mental health if not handled with utmost care.

A quasi experimental study on “effect of learning package on knowledge and practice regarding self-care and child care among women undergoing caesarean section at Bankura Sammilani Medical College and Hospital, Bankura, West Bengal” was conducted to find out the knowledge and practice and its association with selected factors among subjects and also the effect of learning package. Conceptual framework was developed based on Ludwig Von Bertalanffy’s system model. A quasi experimental study design was adopted. Convenience sampling technique was used to select 64 antenatal women. Structured interview schedule and structured knowledge questionnaire were used to collect data. Significant findings on statistical analysis of data were revealed that the mean post-test knowledge score (18.68) and practice score (26.06) of experimental group are higher than the mean post-test knowledge score (7.93) and mean post-test practice score (17.71) of control group with true mean difference in both the cases (“t” values 16.79, 15.18, p=0.05) which concludes that the learning package is effective to improve the knowledge and enhance the practice among the subjects. Educational level was found significant in relation to knowledge and practice scores among experimental group.

Fifth’s disease it is more common condition in children’s age group of 5 to 15 years old and some time it will be sever in pregnant women and individual with compromised immune system. It is also named as erythema infectiosum, slapped cheek disease and most common cause is par virus B19. This is airborne virus leads to spread through saliva and respiratory secretions among children who are in elementary school period. This condition is more common during winter, spring early summer but it may spread at any time have been happens at any age group. The most common clinical symptoms are like distinctive red rash on the face that makes a child appear to have a slapped cheek and a few days later, the rash spreads down to the trunk, arms, and legs and it usually lasts 1 to 3 weeks and along with we can see head ache, fatigue, low-grade fever, sore throat, nausea, runny nose. In this kind of conditions at community level the community health officer who is in-charge of health and wellness center must diagnose the disease by clinical examination of the child and send for the specific clinical antibody test. To have relieve from those clinical symptoms must use acetaminophen that is Tylenol and intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) can be administered. This treatment is usually reserved for severe, life-threatening cases. The community health officer must advice non pharmacological methods like tacking adequate rest, drinking plenty of water and adequate nutrition, supplementary fluids.

A Quasi experimental study to evaluate the effectiveness of Video assisted teaching programme on knowledge regarding use of Intra Uterine Balloon Tamponade in the management of PPH among staff nurses in selected hospitals of Mysuru. The sample consisting of 60 Staff Nurses in selected hospitals by using non-probability convenient sampling method. The tool comprised of structured self-administered questionnaire. The mean of pre test knowledge score in experimental group was 8.966 with standard deviation of 4.205. While in control group, mean was 8.533 with standard deviation of 3.471. The post test knowledge score from both experimental and control group showed that the obtained post test mean value in experimental group (18.03) was higher than post test mean value in control group (8.93). The mean difference value of experimental group (9.07) is greater than control group (0.4), and the obtained ‘t’ test value (9.977) is found to be more than ‘t’ table value (2.00). Since, the obtained ‘t’ value is highly significant at p<0.05 level. Therefore, null hypothesis (H) is rejected. This shows that there is a significant improvement in the knowledge level of staff nurses in experimental group compared to control group. This indicates that administration of video assisted teaching programme was effective in improving the knowledge of staff nurses regarding use of intrauterine balloon tamponade in the management of PPH. The findings established that there was no association between knowledge of samples on use of intrauterine balloon tamponade in the management of PPH and selected demo graphical variables in both experimental and control group. Hence, the research hypothesis Hwas rejected and the present study revealed that VAT on knowledge regarding use of intrauterine balloon tamponade in the management of PPH was effective among staff nurses.

Background: The skin of pretmature neonates require a special care as it is thin, the pH is low, and they lose more heat and water. Due to the increasing number of preterm births, the stable preterm babies get an early discharge early from the hospital. At home they require meticulous skin care for their survival and both father and mother are equally responsible for providing care to their preterm neonates. Henceforth it is essential to develop an evidence-based protocol and train both father and mother in the care of the preterm neonate Aim: To develop a protocol and check its effectiveness in skill development of parents (father and mother) regarding skin care and oil massage of their preterm neonates admitted in Neonatal units, Nehru Hospital, PGIMER, Chandigarh Settings and Design: Neonatal Nursery (NNN), Maternity ward, Nehru Hospital, PGIMER, Chandigarh. A quantitative research approach and operational design were selected. Material and Methods: The study was conducted on 45 parents of 31 neonates selected using the total enumeration sampling technique. Protocol on the skin, eye, cord care and oil massage of preterm neonates was developed, validated, demonstration, and return demonstration were taken after the pretest. Observational checklists were used to assess the father and mother’s skills in three-four consecutive observations. Results: Data was analyzed using SPSS version 20.0. Maximum 30(97%) mothers became skilled in the third observation; on the other hand, more fathers achieved skill by the fourth observation. Once all the father and mother achieved skill performance of 85-90%. The final return demonstration was taken on their preterm neonate. A significant improvement in skills scores of both fathers’ and mothers’ was observed within and in between the subsequent observations. Conclusion: The research shows that there was a significant increase in the skills of father and mother. This shows that the operational study to devel

Background : An quick and non-invasive procedure to assess the general health and well-being of the child is growth monitoring. In 2006 WHO published growth charts and these charts are now more frequently used to assess growth of children. These charts have also been adopted by CDC. The current study was planned to assess the status of growth of children in Haryana using these charts. Aims: To assess the growth and development of under five children as per new WHO growth standards in selected community of Haryana. Settings and Design : A descriptive design was used and study was conducted in rural and urban community of Ambala, (Haryana) to assess their Growth and Development. Material and M ethods: Total 140 under five children of conveniently selected setting were enrolled through door to door survey. Various checklists were used to ascertain competency of data collectors and inter-observer reliability was calculated and it was 0.82. Screening sheet, and growth and development assessment performa with growth charts were used to collect data. The anthropometric measurements were taken and recorded for all children. Statistical analysis: Data was analysed by using SPSS 17 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) . Results : Most of the children were born between gestational age of 34-40weeks, and more than half were males. Related to initiation of breast feeding 73 (52.1%) of children were breast fed within one hour of birth. About introduction of solid food in more than half of the children it was started in age of 6-7 months. Half of the fathers were labourers, and all most all of the mothers were housewives. As per weight for age and length/height for age chart 61.4 of the children fell in -2 to +2 SD that is normal. As per indicator of acute malnutrition that is weight for length/height 54.2% of children were normal. Only 3.6% children were above 2SD for length/height and weight for age, rest other were below 2SD and were underweight, stunted and wasted as the related indicators. Conclusions: There is a need to implement education program for parents of children on nutrition as many children were at risk of both acute and chronic malnutrition and few were malnourished.
