Abstract:La trajectoire de Virginie Despentes, marquée par le passage de l'atmosphère underground de ses débuts au succès mainstream de nos jours, peut être considérée comme une success story du point de vue de la célébrité, de la médiatisation, de la légitimation, mais aussi comme un parcours d'agentivité discursive. Or, ce parcours révèle surtout une force et une détermination remarquables, qui ont permis à Despentes de se créer en tant que figure littéraire et de créer une oeuvre à sa mesure, construisant à la fois une posture d'auteur et un ethos esthétique singuliers dans la littérature française contemporaine. Ce travail prétend ainsi analyser cette volonté dans sa posture d'autrice, dans sa « scénographie auctoriale » et dans son oeuvre, comme une « volonté de puissance », empruntant le concept à la philosophie de Nietzsche, en le rattachant également à l'idée de l'identité comme performance.

Abstract:Dans En compagnie des hommes, Véronique Tadjo donne la parole à plusieurs narrateurs afin qu'ils livrent leurs expériences, leurs sentiments ou leurs idées sur l'épidémie Ebola qui a sévi en Afrique de l'Ouest entre 2014 et 2016. Lorsque les narrateurs nonhumains – le baobab, la chauve-souris et le virus Ebola – prennentla parole, c'est pour dénoncer les pratiques des humains qui se croient « au-dessus des autres créatures de la terre » (145), attaquent la forêt partout où ils se trouvent et semblent ignorer qu'on « ne décime pas la forêt sans faire couler du sang ». (22) Ils proposent également aux humains une autre manière de vivre avec les êtres non humains et éléments de la nature. Les préoccupations des narrateurs humains sont d'ordre médical, scientifique, social, sociétal, culturel, économique ou politique. Cet article fait une analyse écocritique de ce roman et s'interroge sur les liens qui existent entre la pluralité des voix et le message écologique de l'auteure. Vers quoi ces voix concourent-elles ? Comment entraînent-elles les lecteurs dans une remise en question de leur manière de vivre ?

Abstract:This article proposes a close reading of Chantal T. Spitz's short story "Joséphine" in tandem with an engagement with Polynesian orality and tattooing as both metaphors for bodily inscription and as integral to the socially-determined process of gendered identity formation. The author demonstrates how Mā'ohi non-binary gender embodiment is inherently relational and draws upon long histories of oral storytelling and cultural traditions of triangulation. These relational practices of narration, voice, and movement provide counternarratives to Western biomedical utilitarian theories of gender transition. In the short story, Western definitions of gender transition/reassignment and Mā'ohi notions of socially-determined and locally-rooted constellations of gendered self-actualization act simultaneously on the site of the protagonist's gendered body. By adapting Kamau Brathwaite's concept of tidalectics, the author suggests that these influences come together in aqueous rhythm in a "trans tidalectics" that disrupt the telos at the heart of Western gender transition, often historically determined by medical or surgical intervention.
