Individuals who succeed in higher education are supposedly skillful with very high employability rates and predictable career outcomes. In parallel with that, recent statistics show increasing number of female graduates in higher institutions in Malaysia. However, comparing regional estimates of female participation rates in the labor market, Malaysian women have a relatively low participation in labor market for decades. Among the educated women surveyed in 2017, 42 percent were outside the labor force while the married ones said they did not work to look after their children. In this qualitative study, nine educated mothers and three experts in the field were interviewed to find the real problems related to child care. The three validated themes were child care costs, availability of child care centers and child care quality. A quality child care center is usually more expensive. Although many qualified centers have been established, not all meet the needs of discerning educated mothers who can choose not to enter or exit the labor market to look after their children.

Technology is moving rapidly and educators have to keep up with this fast pace. Due to the pressure to embrace education revolution 4.0 introduced by the government of Malaysia, universities need to integrate technologies in teaching and learning sessions. To get the knowledge required, academicians need to attend training related. However, due to other commitments, knowledge sharing is the best option to gather the knowledge. Knowledge sharing has been accepted as a key dimension of effective knowledge management in an organization. However this situation is contradicting in education industry where every academician focus more on building their own image as the best academicians (Agyemang et al., 2016; Seonghee and Boryung, 2008). The researchers believe the level of willingness to share knowledge vary from one person to another depending on several factors including personality of individual. Thus, the purpose of this study is to identify how personality traits influence knowledge sharing attitude and behaviour among academic staff at Faculty of Business and Management, UiTM Selangor, Puncak Alam Campus. 169 sample of respondents will be collected by using convenience sampling technique. This study aims to contributes to the growing literature on the relationships between personality traits and knowledge sharing attitude and behaviour related to teaching and learning technologies (E-learning) among academicians in higher education.

Accountability is strongly emphasised in the public sector, recognised as a list of duties implemented in meeting needs and wants of the people. In this study, public accountability examined as roles of public employees divided into internal and external accountability persists to provide the exact representation of the actual role of employees in the public sector. The dichotomy provides an unprofound sense of what responsibilities are, especially within the Malaysian public sector. As such, this study was conducted among public administrators and items analysed through confirmatory factor analysis, and a final of 13 item-measurement construct validated. The findings show that internal and external accountability recognised as routine roles, which is placed under different ministries and efforts to strengthen public administrators’ skills in the implementation of these tasks, can avoid any form of misconduct that could impair their work performance. The theoretical and methodological issues in relation to public accountability constructs are discussed in light of these findings.

The production of paddy and the supply of rice to the consumers should not be viewed as separate segments but as a series of linked segments within a supply chain model. It involved of both upstream and downstream linkages. Each linkage has different processes and activities that produce different value and form of products and services before it reaches to the final customer or consumer. The paddy supply chain in Kelantan starts with the paddy producers (farmers), to the rice millers, then to the traders who will hand it to the wholesale traders, and lastly to the final consumers. A strong linkage between actors in every stage of supply chain can guarantee a competitive production and efficient distribution of paddy and rice from farmers to the final consumers.

Despite the government’s effort to eradicate corruption, it is still impossible to combat it as long as individuals with no integrity and sense of responsibility exists in organizations. ca This study is to investigate the relationship between several macroeconomics variables with corruption. The macroeconomics variables include government spending, human capital, investment and trade openness. This study uses time series data from the year 1994-2016. The data were obtained from Political Risk Service (PRS) and World Development Indicator from World Bank. Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method is used to examine the relationship between all the macroeconomic variables and corruption. The macroeconomic variables found to be significantly related to corruption in Malaysia were human capital and trade openness. However changes in the corruption in Malaysia may not necessarily be influenced by government spending and investment. Furthermore, all variables are found to have a positive relationship with corruption. The general findings of this paper strongly suggested that corruption in Malaysia is increasing continuously. Therefore efforts by the Malaysian government and policy makers are badly needed to fight corruption in order to foster better economic growth through improved business operations, employment and investments.

One of efforts to develop a country’s economic condition is by implementing city brand building. Brand building of the city consists of five phases, which determine the success of branding itself, namely (1) market investigation, analysis and strategic recommendations, (2) brand identity development, (3) brand launch and introduction-communicating the vision, (4) Brand implementation, (5) monitoring, evaluation, and review. Besides the phases, two other contributing factors to the success of city brand building are opinion leaders and the government. This study compares the effectiveness of branding, opinion leaders, and the government in two thematic villages in Semarang, Indonesia, using Mann Whitney test. The results of data processing indicate that there are significant differences between the effectiveness of branding, opinion leaders, and the government of the two villages. Through this research, it is expected that the formation of the thematic villages is based on the five phases of branding building as well as involvement of opinion leaders. In addition, the government needs to implement policies that support the brand building.

Mobile payment services has emerged as one of the prominent transaction payment methods. China is leading in mobile payment globally while mobile payment in Malaysia still in its infancy. This paper compares the factors in adoption of mobile payment among consumers’ in Zuhai, China and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The factors included in the study were perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, subjective norms and perceived security risk. A cross-sectional, descriptive study was undertaken on 96 smartphone users from China and 51 users from Malaysia. Inferential statistics Mann-Whitney U test was applied to compare between study variables. Spearman’s ho correlation was used to identify the association between the study variables and behavioral intention to adopt mobile payment services. The study found significant different between users’ perception on subjective norms and perceived security risk in these two city. There was no significant different for perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use between users in Zuhai and Kuala Lumpur. Significant negative linear correlations between perceived security risk and behavioral intention, and significant positive correlations between perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and subjective norms and behavioral intention were observed from the study. The findings of this study indicate that the consumers in Kuala Lumpur have higher concern on mobile payment services security and greater social influences to adopt mobile payments.

This conceptual paper is presented with the intention to study the best practice model of financial management, which has become the practice of the Malay in Klang Valley. It begins by reviewing the literature on household financial management and the behavior of households against finances and debt. The theory of utility and the life-cycle hypothesis were used as the basis of the study. This study is inspired by the concerns of the government and the public on the growing bankruptcy issue in Malaysia. Many previous quantitative studies discussed the flaws in money management. This study, however, slightly different. Using a qualitative method, it intends to look at the best practices implemented by the household in managing family finances. The findings can add value to today's body of knowledge. Identified themes can be used to design financial modules which are more compatible to be used by all levels of society.

The shift from financial repression to financial liberalization causes cross-border capital flows and brought dramatic changes to the financial sector. In this regard, the financial sectors, acts as financial intermediary which plays a significant role in mobilizing funds between surplus and deficit units. Furthermore, financial liberalization creates higher competition and could have negative impact towards financial stability due to excessive risk taking. This study’s research model focuses on examining the impact of competition on the relationship between financial liberalization and financial stability. This model was analyzed by using the PLS-SEM and it was found that the measurement model explains 19% of the substantial amount of variance in financial stability. Based on this finding, this study will theoretically contribute in extending the competition stability view and competition fragility view as determiners of financial stability. Based on the empirical results, it can be concluded that in the presence of competition, financial liberalization has a significant effect on financial stability
