The 2007-2009 Global Financial Crisis showed that despite reported as ‘healthy’ financial institution prior to crisis had indeed suffered many problems including liquidity during the crisis. Thus, there is confusion on the healthy financial institutions, leading to loss of confidence on the overall stability of the banking system. Thus, there is an urgent need to review the current measures of financial as well as banking stability. This paper aims to look at the definition of ‘stability’ used in the academic researches and by different regulatory bodies, like International Monetary Fund, Basel Committee for Banking Supervision (BCBS) and central banks in selected countries with dual banking systems. It is then, critically review indicators used as measures of financial as well as banking stability. This review is hope to identify areas of strengths as well as weaknesses of the current measures of stability and serves as foundation for further research in future.

Higher Learning Institutions today are increasingly required to produce highly mobile graduates able to respond to the ever changing needs of the contemporary workplace. Through industrial training, interns will be exposed to ethical values and good working practices as well as to help them understand the safety practices and regulations inside the industry and to instill the spirit of teamwork and good relationship between interns and employees. The motivation for the current research study is to examine the implementation of industrial training conducted by Faculty of Business and Management of Universiti Teknologi MARA and industrial perception on Business Students during their practical period. This research is also prompted by the concern in the increasing number of unemployed among fresh graduates. Feedback from industries would give a better picture of what is required of students since employers are increasingly looking beyond a graduate's academic knowledge. Results show that interns are flexible towards task assigned, committed and resourceful towards work. However, their level of problem solving and analytical skills were low and they also lacked communication skills. It is anticipated that this exploratory study will enable the academia to bridge the gap between theory and practice thus improving the curricula towards developing successful professional business graduates.

Islamic financing is regarded as one of the financing alternatives that enterprises may utilize to fund their business. This financing type is characterized as free from riba and is based on illiquid assets which create real assets and inventories. The aim of this conceptual paper is to highlight the Shari’ah contract of al Kafalah that is used by Credit Guarantee Corporation (CGC) to attach to its Islamic financing guarantee scheme offered to business enterprises. Kafalah refers to an obligation to pay in the event the principal debtor is unable to honour his obligation. Through this Shari’ah contract, the CGC has indeed paved a new way of financing enterprises which are keen on having halal financing to fund their business activities. Most importantly, this addition of halal financing has accelerated the growth of Islamic finance in Malaysia.

Household debt has become an issue in the Malaysian economy as it affects the country socially and economically. This study aims to examine the determinants of household debt from the year 2010 until 2017. This study employs the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method and the macroeconomic variables used in this study are Gross Domestic Product (GDP), base lending rate, unemployment and housing price as independent variables. The results indicate that the trend of household debt in Malaysia has shown a continuous rise from the year 2010 to 2017. GDP, base lending rate and housing price indicate a positive relationship towards household debt while unemployment shows a negative relationship to household debt in Malaysia. All explanatory variables have shown a significant relationship except for GDP. Housing price has been found to be the most significant factor and positively related to household debt. The findings indicate that the higher the price of houses, the higher the household debt will be.

This study is developed to examine the determinants of financial leverage of capital structure of airlines industry in Asia for the period from 2012 to 2016. Airlines industry is selected as sample of this study as it reflects the highest energy intensive industry based on the largest amount of fuel consumption on the business (Bratlie, 2012). This study defined airline as an operation entity that provides services to carry people and freight by air with schedule routes provided. This study, using panel data analysis, reports that size and growth have a positive relationship to financial leverage. In contrast, profitability and age are negatively related. Regardless of the signs, all the explanatory variables in this study are strongly significant in determining financial leverage (measured by debt to equity ratio).

Implementing new technologies may bring about some positive as well as negative changes. Some negative side-effects of these changes may cause high turnover or burnout in companies. Meanwhile, as individuals may experience the stress and discomfort of dealing with challenging environment, recruiting process and human resources (HR) managers will be affected as well. Several factors will affect recruiting in various aspects. Among such factors, however, personality of the interviewee is one of the top reasons which could have some sort of significant impact on the rest of criteria. Many studies show the stress that comes from technology, called techno-stress, will affect the perception of users, and several studies demonstrate that the level of techno-stress will vary with personality of the people. However due to lack of studies we need to understand the impact of different aspects of personality on the relationship between techno-stress and adoption of technology. Therefore, this study examined the moderating role of personality on relationship between techno-stress and Technology acceptance and usage. This paper reports on the literature we reviewed to better understand the moderating role of personality on the relationship between techno-stress and perceived ease of use of the technology.

Technology changes will always be for the better, not only to the end users but also to the intellectual property owners of the technology and the implementers of the technology. The objective of this paper is to study the feasibility and viability for entrepreneurs to become service providers for the dispensation of fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides and supporting services such as aerial crop reconnaissance using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) or drones. The methodology used for this study is SWOT Analysis. Both primary and secondary data is used for this analysis. This study finds that paddy farming employing drones is feasible. The beneficiaries of this study shall be the government, by way of lowering financial cost to subsidise the paddy planting, the farmers who no longer need the services of migrant workers, thus saving production cost, and finally the drone service providers and their downstream business associates who can engaged themselves in very lucrative businesses.

Malaysia is an Islamic state which encourages Shariah compliant businesses. Employee Provident Fund (EPF) has initiated a new Shariah compliant savings scheme known as Simpanan Shariah. The scheme is not alien to Muslim members but the factors that develop the interests of non-Muslim members to adopt it is still unknown. Thus, this study examined the factors influencing non-Muslim members’ intention to opt for Simpanan Shariah in EPF. The research model was developed based on Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). The data was collected based on questionnaire survey. From the multiple regressions analysis, it found that governmental support was the most important factor in influencing non-Muslim members’ intention to adopt Simpanan Shariah. The next factor was trust and followed by perceived behavioural control. However, attitude and subjective norm did not influence the intention to adopt Simpanan Shariah among the non-Muslim members. This study suggested that there are ample rooms for EPF to further develop Simpanan Shariah. In doing so, EPF could collaborate with government to promote Simpanan Shariah. In addition, EPF also needs to create awareness and provides more information to their non-Muslim members by using their mother-tongue languages. Suggestions to future researchers have also been put forth at the end of this paper.

Job satisfaction is the most common topic of research, but it is still relevant as most problems in the workplace are related to employees’ job satisfaction. The same problem is also prevalent those working in higher educational institutions. Due to this concern, the present study was conducted among 163 academics in private colleges in Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia. Based on the result of factor analysis, it was found that job satisfaction of academics can be divided into four dimensions; career and salary satisfaction, creativity satisfaction, administration satisfaction and attitudinal satisfaction. Factors that significantly influence the dimensions of job satisfaction are flexible work arrangement, salary and promotion. All these three factors significantly influence career and salary satisfaction and administration satisfaction. Promotion on the other hand leads to creativity satisfaction. And, salary contributes to attitudinal satisfaction. The findings of the study indicate the importance of flexible work arrangement and compensation on academics’ satisfaction, thus, the management should consider these aspects when planning for the work schedule and career development of the academics in the institutions of higher learning.
