Abstract: The idea of anti-imperialism lacks conceptual and practical homogeneity which can be appealed by different political doctrines and ideological currents. This work aims to characterize the intellectual trajectory of anti-imperialist thought in the Chilean Socialist Party (PS), recognizing its originality, moments of change, and continuities during the period between 1933 and 1967. Far from doctrinal and discursive homogeneity, the different interpretations on this topic are inseparable from the changes in international reality due to internal debate between the socialist intelligentsia, concerned about the dynamics of imperialist penetration in Latin America and the Third World. From that point of view, socialists support and subscribe to different nationalist and anti-imperialist programs that linked the national political process with the dynamics of the international system.

: This article presents a debate with the renowned British researcher Peter Burke about the challenges that historians have had to face in contemporary conjunctures, addressing the transformation of the historian’s profession in society during the last decades. In addition to examining the commitment to building a closer relationship between all social sciences and history, this debate revolves around the impact of technological and communicational change on its sources, and the configuration of a critical consciousness to address them. One of the most prominent voices in cultural history speaks of the difficulties in classifying contemporary historiographic production, of the challenges of teaching history today, of the legacy and validity of some of the most recognized historiographic trends of the 20th century, as well as of the limitations and main practical problems that new generations of historians must face.

: This article investigates the impacts of the economic crisis of 1929 on the motorized vehicles of the public transport existing in Santiago and Valparaíso until 1934. Based on the press of the time and other sources, the main urban consequences brought to the country by this situation will be explained, as well as how it affected the mobility of santiaguinos and porteños and how it was dealt by the transport guild. It is postulated that this fact produced important changes in the transport services of both cities, along with transforming the relationship of the businessmen of collective transportation with the authority, conditioning their development for the rest of the twentieth century.

: The following work aims to carry out a historiographic review of the war of Chile against the Peru-Bolivian Confederation, analyze what were the main approaches, their sources and demonstrate the lack of work dedicated to studying the presence of the Chilean army while in Peru (1837-1839). Especially, considering that, although Chile won the victory in early 1839, the troops remained for a long time in Lima. Along with this review, some methodological suggestions are made on how to study this period considering that, behind this occupation, interesting background information can be obtained regarding the complex process of shaping national states.

: This paper discusses the two most revisited experiences of transition to socialism in the Latin American twentieth century: the Cuban Revolution and the Chilean Popular Unity government. To contrast Cuban and Chilean leftist conceptions of that period, we analyzed how the cultural magazines Casa de las Américas and La Quinta Rueda represented the agenda of the left. Based on these sources, we will discuss each government’s cultural policies, the intellectual debates, the exchanges, and conflicts between the two revolutionary processes.
