Philanthropic endowment or wqaf represents a form of long lasting charity with potential profits or benefits meant for the spiritual and economical improvement of the society. This study attempts to revisit the concept of waqf by analysing its literal and technical meanings, its legitima cy in the light of the Qur’an and Sunnah. It also analysis some classical and contemporary views pertaining its conceptualization and traces its origin in the Islamic heritage. Istibdal, exchange of the waqf property, as a means of viability of waqf property and its relevant challenges are also dealt with. This paper is based on library research and use qualitative method. Having analysed, the relevant data the authors arrived at the conclusion that future efforts need to be made to develop the concep t of waqf based on maqasid shari’ah while in tandem need to develop a universal and comprehensive vision of shari’ah based on its objectives. Both concepts must be revisited, reviewed, and revised to restore the dynamism of the concept of waqf hence, making it an effective tool for alleviation of the poverty and the distribution of wealth among the different sections of the society in equitable manner.

A salik is a ṣufī who practices tasawuf (mysticism) with certain maʻrif ah (knowledge of Allah) consequent to their devotion to his/her beloved (God); which piety obtains greater maḥabbah (love) and a more intimate pool of maʻrifah. This paper aims to discuss the concept of maʻrifah in al -Ghazali ’s K i miya’ al - Sa`adah and Iḥyā᾽ʻUlum al - Dinn as an initial element of creation and direct result of ma ḥ abbah (love). The qualitative approach is employed. Literature from peer-reviewed and refereed journals, articles and those two books were reviewed in order to reveal the significant spirit of love and knowledge’s relations in al- Ghazali’s viewpoint as one of the greatest Muslim philosophers, theologians and jurists. The results show that maʻrifah and mahabbah haqiqi (true love and knowledge) are of the same essence and that only those of proven capacity can understand metaphysical domains. Al- Ghazali’s perpective reveals that understanding maʻrifah and mahabbah activates a causal chain or continuum that advances, strengthens and motivates this relationship

The purpose of this paper is to study the Islamic ethical elements in online e-Commerce (EC) transactions and develop an ethical business model. Based on a preliminary investigation, it was found that sellers who use EC were not aware and did not have proper guideline to guide them on the Islamic business ethics during online transactions. This paper aims to propose an Islamic EC Ethics model to increase the awareness among businesses in EC transactions. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were deployed as the primary method where experts were interviewed, and questionnaire were distributed. Using selective sampling method, data collection from 100 respondents who have performed online selling transactions were collected. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) was used to analyze the data collected and followed by model development. Finally, it was validated by an expert. The proposed Islamic EC ethics model provides proper guideline for online sellers while performing online transactions by guide them about the right and wrong things to do in accordance to Islamic beliefs.
