This study analyzes public service advertisements, public campaign videos, and digital care industry advertisement videos to identify the dominant perspective on the digital divide problem of the elderly and to explore the position and meaning of the elderly in digital technology discourse. According to the analysis, public advertisements/campaign texts for bridging the digital divide assume the elderly as the digital weak and the young as the digital strong, and there is a tendency to solve the problem of the digital weak through the practice of the digital strong. This aspect of representation requires reconsideration because it can lead to reinforcing and reproducing negative stereotypes such as dependence and passivity of the elderly. On the other hand, the elderly in advertisements for the digital care industry appear as images of digital users rather than digital weaklings, as users of AI care services. As a result of reproducing the daily life of the elderly with an artificial intelligence care robot, a difference was revealed in the use of digital technology by female seniors and male seniors. It was understood that the dual inequality factors of gender and age were reflected. In the advertisements analyzed, the elderly actively interacting with AI caring robots tended to highlight the digital inclusion of ICT companies that are considerate of the minority and the vulnerable, and digital technology appeared as a friend of the elderly in all texts.

Infectious disease disasters have a relatively direct and powerful impact on people's daily lives compared to general disasters. Therefore, the ability to respond in a short time is required. However, there is no study examining the integrated command system and coordination of disaster and disaster management and cooperation in disaster governance in the social welfare area. Therefore, this study analyzed the emergency care service of the Seoul Social Service Center. The purpose is to prepare basic data to prepare for new infectious disease disasters that will reappear in the future. At the same time, it is meaningful that the social implications were analyzed. Topics derived from specific research results include institutional and policy attempts and efforts to establish an emergency care system, the role of a control tower for emergency care services, and achievements and future tasks of emergency care services. The social implications analyzed based on the derived themes are that the public care sector recognizes its responsibility and role in preparing a safety protection system for the vulnerable class and establishes an emergency care system, and communication channels for effective operation of emergency care services. and that it played a role of cooperating and coordinating with related organizations. Ultimately, the need for regularization of emergency care emerged, and it was confirmed that efforts to redefine the scope of emergency care after COVID-19 and prepare policies through social discussions were necessary.

In addition, the influence of mentally impaired human rights attitude on quality of life was investigated for each category. In other words, it was carried out in order to provide a practical plan for delivering assistance to improve the quality of life in people suffering from mental illness based on their level of self-esteem. For this purpose, 205 data people with mental illness form the the Korea Disabled Development Institute’s panel on the life from the third data set were used. For the analysis, M-Plus 8.2 and SPSS 25.0 were utilized. The following are the study’s findings. First, four types of self-esteem were found in people with mental illness. Second, there was a significant difference between groups in terms of the characteristics of the type of self-esteem in people with mental illness. Third, among people with mental illness, the sense of human rights, which corresponds to the positive type and type of value respect, has a significant impact on quality of life. Based on these findings, it was advocated that people with mental illnesses have access to treatments tailored to their level of self-esteem, as well as the materials needed to improve their quality of life through the advancement of their human rights.

The purpose of this study was to examine the changes in core competencies of social work majors after they participated in a life respect education instructor training program as a extracurricular activity in addition to the regular curriculum. A pretest-posttest experimental design was used with 20 undergraduate social work majors at a community college, and the results of the study were as follows. First, the core competencies of university students who participated in the life-respect education instructor training program increased from before to after the program, indicating that the program was effective in enhancing the core competencies of university students. Second, the mean scores of the core competencies were higher in both the overall mean and sub-scores of the core competencies when theoretical training and on-site lecture practice were combined than when only theoretical training was provided in the comparison activity. Based on these findings, suggestions were made for the development, implementation, and methods of various co-curricular programs for social work students.

The purpose of this study is to find out the moderating effect of leisure activities in the effect of death anxiety of the elderly on the quality of life. To verify this, the hierarchical regression analysis method using the hierarchical analysis of the SPSS 20 statistical package program was used as the analysis data answered by 345 elderly people. In addition, in order to confirm the significance of the effect of the interaction, it was confirmed by the slope and intersection through the chart function of the generalized linear model. The study results showed that, first, the correlation between leisure life and quality of life was a statistically significant positive correlation. Death anxiety and leisure life, quality of life, and death anxiety all showed statistically significant negative correlation. Second, in the relationship between death anxiety and quality of life of the elderly, the interaction variable between death anxiety and leisure life was statistically significant, confirming the moderating effect of the interaction variable. Third, in the relationship between the elderly's fear and quality of life, the interaction variable between fear and leisure life was statistically significant, confirming the moderating effect of the interaction variable. This confirms that leisure activities play a controlling role in the relationship between death anxiety and quality of life of the elderly. Therefore, in this study, suggestions were made to improve the quality of life and buffer death anxiety through leisure activities of the elderly.

The purpose of this study is to explore the possibility of using foreign caregivers as an alternative to stably securing care workers for the elderly that Korea, which has entered an aged society in the shortest period of time, will face in near future. To this end, we conducted in-depth interviews with 4 current foreign caregivers working in long-term care institutions for the elderly after obtaining a caregiver license. We also conducted analysis based on the phenomenological research method of Giorgi (1997). As a result of the analysis, a general structure of care for the elderly by foreign caregivers in long-term care institutions was derived for the purpose of strengthening the influx of foreign caregivers as certified care workers, early labor experience in unequal working conditions and working environments, and pride as an essential workforce providing care services, and the value of care work. Through this analysis, several policy implications were suggested as follows: (1) active job promotion with access to nursing care worker job, (2) strengthening of public intervention to improve service quality, and (3) the enhancement of professionalism through education and promotion system.

The purpose of this study is to examine factors affecting depression among middle aged adults in their 40s and 50s. This study used the 2020 Gyeonggi Provincial Life Quality Survey data and selected 7,644 adults in their 40s and 50s out of a total of 16,000 respondents. Hierarchical multiple regression was conducted. For study results, being female, being older, and having higher education were associated with higher level of depression. Perceiving higher socioeconomic status and being employed were associated with lower the level of depression. As for health related factors, higher level of stress and having had suicidal thoughts increased the level of depression. As for social environmental factors, higher family satisfaction, higher social relationship satisfaction, and having person who provided help were statistically associated lower level of depression. Based on these results, implications about reducing the level of depression for the middle aged adults were discussed.
