This research aims to understand the perceptions of participants of a Ceara Language Center (CCI) in Fortaleza about the implementation of the CCI and the offer of Spanish language, to the detriment of their local and regional reality. With the revocation of Law 11,161 / 2005, some Brazilian states enacted their own laws specifying the continuation of Spanish offer in curricula, although this was not the case in Ceara. However, through economic issues related to tourism and the Air France-KLM / Gol hub, the Government of Ceara approved the initial creation of at least 11 CCI for teaching English and Spanish to high school students in public schools. This action constitutes a linguistic policy (PL) related to the school domain (Spolsky, 2016) that aims to expand the linguistic repertoire of young students from Ceara. The methodology is ethnographic, involving description of the scenario investigated, visitation and interviews with subjects participating in a CCI. As a result, students’, teachers’ and managers’ perceptions about the implementation of the CCI as a way of accessing and democratizing teaching and learning of LE, and the Spanish language is a resource language, easy to learn and that would enable communication, better qualification and professional position.

This work discusses,in the light of the argumentative semantics and rhetoric, the implicit in the discurse of memes on Facebook at the time of the countergovernmental demonstrations, in Brazil in 2015. Under the Ducrotian perspective, we defend that the argumentative value of words is responsible for the argumentative direction of the discourse. In our methodology of analysis, we resort to the journalistic technique of lead and to the Charaudeaunian description of the enunciation scene (or discursive scene). From what is linguistically available, we propose the contents that are put and presupposed. When researching the situational context, according to the historicity, ideology and shared knowledge of each situation of enunciation, we infer the possible sub-understandings in order to comprehend what the statement intends to say with what is spoken. The analyzed statements were produced by Internet users and they carry the subjective marks, the ideological opinions of their authors. The sense ―grasped by the presuppositions and sub-understandings― ironic and mocking of the memes, observed in this work, constructs humorous discourses of opposition, revolt and resistance. The authors of the memes, while laughing and being ironic about the protest against Dilma Rousseff (on March 15, 2015), intended to criticize, decrease and discredit the demonstration.

This article discusses the possible derivative functioning of the vocalic morphemes - o and - a , traditionally considered as gender endings, but interpreted, in certain uses (from the gender inflection of animate nouns to the formation of deverbative nouns, such as gasto , paga ), as derivative suffixes. Our objective is to demonstrate, through a detailed analysis of the different functions that can be performed by these morphemes in question, that the diversity of opinions about their inflectional or derivative nature reflects, in this case, the existence of a zone of transition between inflection and derivation, whose degrees we also attempt to determine.

The relations between lexicon and semantics are still a linguistic field relatively unexplored in comparison with other fields, even though the researches in this sphere are usually limited to very specific elements, such as the metaphors or the phraseological semantics. In recent decades, it begins to emerge a special interest in the impact that the lexicon has in relation with the particular syntagm in which it forms part of. That is considering that every uttered word causes a certain interpretation in the receiver (in an involuntary and instantaneous way) and the success or failure during the communicative act depends, to a great extent, on it. This research has one principal aim which is to give an explanation to certain phenomena that are produced in the lexical-syntactic interface of the selected examples, based, for this, on the most important theories within this linguistic specialty.

The current work describes the relevant psycholinguistic models that explain how the link between syntax and semantics is carried out during the processing of sentences in real time. The implementation of this link allows speakers to interpret ‘who does what to whom’ correctly. Two models are presented which take into account the specific differences of each language and at the same time they propose a universal mechanism for the interpretation of simple clauses: the Extended Argument Dependency Model and the Linking and Checking Model. These models try to explain how these processes would be carried out during the incremental comprehension from two theoretical frameworks of formal linguistics: the Role and Reference Grammar and Generativism. Then it is presented how these models would resolve the interpretation of an event whose link between syntax and semantics is non-canonical and it is discussed which model has a greater explanatory power.
