¿Qué es un clásico?

Amedeo A. Raschieri
Two examples of classicus with the meaning of ‘student’ (dict. 9 = 85 Vogel) and one example of classicum with the meaning of ‘social class’ (epist. 9.34 = 463 Vogel) have been recognised in Ennodius’ work. In fact, in the three cases it is a masculine noun, classicus, to be interpreted as ‘member of the high social class’ in a manner consistent with the socio-political use of the term as witnessed in a famous passage by Aulus Gellius (6.13).

The metaphor of the spider-poet, formed in the context of Alexandrian poetry, is adopted in the Latin literature by Catullus, as in the proem of the author of the epyllium Culex. Particularly, the use of it in poem 13 appears to be significant, because the plenus sacculus aranearum (v. 8) must probably be understood in a meta-literary sense, as demonstrated by the reuse of the same metaphor right in the Culex.

IF 0.1 Pub Date : 2023-10-16 DOI: 10.6018/myrtia.588031
Cecilia P. Perczyk
In Agamemnon, in contrast to other versions of the myth, Aeschylus represents the crime inside the palace and gives the central role to Clytemnestra, who not only kills her husband and then Cassandra, but is also in charge of recounting the murder to the audience. This paper will focus on how the responsibility of the murderess is presented in the tragedy at the discursive level and how it is accompanied by the staging; its study will allow me to develop a hypothesis regarding the motive of the crime.

In the present paper the author has analyzed the images related to the sea that can be found in the dialogue On the priesthood by John Chrysostom. These images especially emphasize the negative and dangerous aspects of the sea. In addition, these similes are often interwoven with others of medical content, a subject that deeply interested the Greek writer.
