This paper presents the dynamic voltage restorer based on 13-level Mixed Multi-cell Cascaded Multilevel Inverter. This inverter is based on a new cell obtained from the mixture of the two most popular Multi-cell topologies, Flying Capacitor and Cascaded Multi-cell inverter. The new cell provides a high number of output levels, high modularity, low number of components and low losses. The proposed medium voltage dynamic voltage restorer, with high voltage power semiconductor modules and series booster transformer, is designed to protect loads at power distribution systems. A control technique based on in-phase voltage compensation is used for dynamic voltage restorer. Simulation carried out by using MATLAB/SIMULINK software. Simulation results show the performance of the proposed dynamic voltage restorer and prove the validity of the proposed topology. It is concluded that the proposed dynamic voltage restorer works well both in balance and unbalance conditions of voltages.

The Genetic Algorithm (GA), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Simulated Annealing, and Tabu search that belong to the Evolutionary Computations Algorithms (ECs) are not suitable for fine tuning structures as they neglect all conventional heuristics. In most of the NP-hard problems, the best solution rarely be completely random, it follows one or more rules (heuristics). In this paper a new algorithm titled “Shaking Optimization Algorithm” is proposed that follows the common methodology of the Evolutionary Computations while utilizing different heuristics during the evolution process of the solution. The proposed approach is applied to the Job Shop Scheduling problems (JSS) and gives promising results compared with that of GA, PSO, SA, and TS algorithms.

This paper presents an optimal design for gears considering gear transmission error, size and lubrication parameters and using Grey Relational Analysis Technique. For this purpose, a new approach has been utilized in order to calculate the transmission error in involute spur gears to get outputs in the shortest time with a high accuracy. In this model, a statically un-determined problem is considered between each engaged pair. In addition to this factor, a factor that defines a competitive parameter for size of gear sets has been considered as second parameter for optimization. This factor has a great effect on financial matters of gears production and design compactness. The third parameter for consideration is oil film thickness in contact points along the path of contact that has been calculated using experimental equations. Finally, to investigate the accuracy of this model, some competitive parameters have been defined and utilized.

A large model needs to be partitioned into a set of smaller sub-models which can be fabricated by the existed machining tools. To facilitate the assembly of sub-models, this paper presents an original method for generating the similar-shaped assembly feature on the splice surface automatically. Instead of directly triangulating the cutting region, the cutting contour is inward offset to achieve the similar-shaped contour. Then, the similar-shaped assembly feature can be constructed according to the maximum feature depth. The application of model partitioning demonstrates that the similar-shaped assembly feature can improve the accuracy and efficiency of sub-models' assembly.

From all the accidents, rollover is one of the most important problems in the area of vehicle safety. This paper presents a simple, full-mechanical, and low-cost control mechanism for the sake of vehicle stability improvement in turning maneuvers. This control mechanism consists of a train of systems which functions in proportion with the intensity of the turn and tilts the vehicle body toward the curve inside. The application of this control mechanism is based on a single methodology for detecting the turn condition. The difference in the left and right wheels speeds is used to trigger the controller and consequently the actuators. A simple method is proposed to produce the necessary mechanical signals while using no electronic sensors. A mechanical controller is then developed to control the longitudinal changes of the linear hydraulic actuators. In order to test the effects of the total control mechanism on the vehicle stability, a simulation is carried out for both the cases of the vehicle with and without the proposed control mechanism, and the efficiency of the system is then verified by the results obtained.

An enhanced inexpensive algorithm is presented in this paper for sensorless control of brushless DC motors (BLDCMs) based on the back emf (BEMF) sensing techniques. The algorithm determines the switching point of power between phases, which is calculated with reasonable accuracy in simple mathematical equations utilizing the slope of the BEMF which is mapped back to reference values. Simulation of the method is presented for verification. Predictably, this eliminates using speed dependant filters, comparators, and the delays called through look up tables after the detection of the zero crossing point (ZCP).

This article suggests a new modeling method of delay dynamics of internet by system identification. It is used for controlling the real time of tele-robotic based on internet. When a single model is used, it needs to adapt to the operating conditions before an appropriate control mechanism can be performed. This article, studies the behavior of multi-model control systems in relation to wave prediction method for variable time delays. In addition, ARX model of time delay is used in associated with the communications links. Finally, this model is used in a suggested control system.

In this paper, the nano layers of LiF, were produced by using PVD method on Steel and Ceramic substrates and in vacuum conditions and vertical deposition angle. The produced nano-structures are studied by using AFM and XRD methods. The results of AFM analyses showed different morphology for both layers. The coated layer on Steel have smoother surface, than the Ceramic substrate. The noticeable point is the form of produced nano-grains that is global for steel substrate and needle like for ceramic substrate. XRD patterns didn't show any LiF peaks in98 nm thickness and 220C deposition temperature.

This paper presents a new ANN-based expert system to classify voltage sags using measured three-phase voltages. The results of the proposed system is compared to those of previously proposed works such as symmetrical component (SC), six-phase (6P), three-phase three-angle (TPTA) algorithms developed to identify voltage sags of types C and D. Numerical examples and recorded voltages are used to validate the expert system.
