This paper explores the relationship between levels of teacher education and socioeconomic characteristics of students with quality education that they themselves receive; the analysis takes place in the higher education sector over the period 2007-2012, analyzing the characteristics of this relationship for the Colombian case. By using data obtained from institutions, such as DANE and ICFES; together with the methodology of quantile regressions, descriptive statistics and basic econometrics, It manages to give a quantitative answer to the effect of a particular type of teacher in the quality of a student, emphasizing the importance of the role of masters and doctors in our institutions of higher education, and some clear public policy suggestions regarding investment in education and also an invitation to the scientific community to explore the special cases we came across.

Starting from the literature review of the highest impact journals, different emphasis and theoretical trends of the discussion on the technological component in organizations in the past six years they are shown. The contributions of the authors show the evolution of this concept as a whole and its need to incorporate it, to generate technological innovation, improvement in organizational performance and value creation. The content and structure of the paper is the result of the dynamics encountered around three different theoretical proposals: information and communications technology (ICT), technological capability and Social Responsibility (CSR). The usefulness of this article is diverse. Firstly, interactions were identified from an analysis of the similarities, differences and contrapositions, of the concepts raised among reviewed articles. And secondly, it serves as evidence of the urgent need for organizations to take ownership of technologically socially responsible practices that translate into a true competitive advantage.

The article purports to analyze social responsibility (RS) in autonomous public universities from the perspective of academic substance and transforming mission that universities have with respect to the society in which they interact. The research was conducted under a qualitative ethnographic paradigm applied to the universities of La Guajira in Colombia and Zulia in Venezuela. Theories glimpse that universities have in essence the comprehensive training of competent professionals, they can respond creatively to different situations giving an added value for the companies where they work. However, it is not reflected that this reflected the (RSU) as a way of being and living in society, which has an impact on all areas of the university mission, which should be implicit and explicit in their actions. As conclusions of the study, three proposals required to implement (RSU) are presented: Strengthening SR Social Actions Supporting Public Universities in Autonomous; steps for the implementation of socially responsible actions to Watch Model and Strategic Thinking from the university socially responsible.

This paper analyzes the survival of the industrial firms of Medellin created between 2000 and 2010. The likelihood of survival is calculated based on company size at birth, according to the type of company or legal form as well as by industry sectors. Small, medium and large companies enjoy higher relative survival rates, while micro find it more difficult to continue in business. On the other hand, the results establish that the innovation and investment improve survival of new businesses. Likewise, the initial phase of the life cycle of the industry favors the entry of firms rather than itsoutput, while in those who are in their mature or declining phase outputs exceed inputs. Also, it is found that the regional aspects are crucial to the survival of businesses.

This paper has the objective to identify the main causes of unschooling and its incidence by sex, age in the commune 5, 6, 8 and 9 of the District of Santa Marta for 2011. To meet this objective a census was applied in the study area, a characterization of unschooling was conducted and a logistic regression model was applied to identify the variables that affect the probability of being unschooled. Found Among the reasons most frequently presented as a cause of unschooling are the problems at home, pregnancy , parenthood , the need to work , changing family home , among others presented in this paper . Finally, these results allow to point out the need to develop strategies aimed at mitigating the impact of unschooling in different age groups and differentially for each of the sexes.

This paper has as its main objective of use the TSP (Traveling Salesman Problem) with graph theory in order to design routing strategies in a distribution network, looking for an efficient way to be made in regard to distance and time used for attending customer’s requirements. Additionally, the paper develops a case of application of the methodology in a Meat Company located in the city of Medellin. As a result, we find that the use of TSP with graph produces a route with the minimum distance in the distribution network; it was demonstrated in the case of application.

The implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to small retailers of consumer goods in a city of Colombia (Medellin) is analyzed. From an empirical investigation it is studied some elements that generate positioning for these traders face the threat of large retailers (supermarkets with modern trade) including the construct of CSR and some components that produce reputation for these people against those competitors. It is discussed in the literature how the concept of CSR is associated with small businesses, the relationship between this variable and retailing studying the main results of research carried out with neighborhood shopkeepers (small retailers) in Medellin during 2011 in which also intervened customers of these dealers and some of its suppliers (manufacturers, wholesale distributors).Qualitative research methodology based on Grounded Theory supplemented with Ethnography is also exposed. Data collection was conducted through individual semi-structured depth interviews, focus groups and non- participant observation. Finally, a discussion of the main findings as well as their most relevant conclusions is made.
