This paper is devoted to the development of brand new type of digital modulation, which implies the transmission of white Gaussian noise whose variance changes in time. Proposed signal has a high level of transmission security, and it cannot be detected by standard means of matched filter. The best variant for restoration of signal with variance shift keying is a cumulative receiver.

This paper describes a situation in which the function obtained from an analog-to-digital conversion is considered a partially-certain function. In this case it is possible to neglect the least significant bits and therefore redefine them arbitrarily. A realization of proposed method simplifies the further processing of the received signal, and saves hardware consumption at designing and usage of hardware and software systems that include analog-to-digital converters.

UWB (Ultra Wideband) indoor positioning system infrastructure is typically composed of anchor nodes deployed in the area covered by the system. The nodes are usually mounted as high as possible to provide better propagation conditions. The paper proposes a solution consisting in deploying anchors directly at the floor level. The paper includes a description of investigation of such system. The results of positioning are presented and discussed. The first path signal component propagation was experimentally investigated. Results of measurements are used for positioning system's performance analysis.

To help users of P2P communication systems perform better-than-random selection of communication peers, Internet Engineering Task Force standardized the Application Layer Traffic Optimization (ALTO) protocol. The ALTO provided data-routing cost metric, can be used to rank peers in P2P communication systems. However, the method to derive the data-routing cost metric is undefined by the standard. This paper proposes and evaluates three methods to derive the data-routing cost metric for use in ALTO servers.

Identity Providers are an integral part of Identity Federations. Many different and complex technologies are needed to create an Identity Provider, which require adequate hardware resources. Containers address the complexity and resources issues, while enabling faster deployment. Even though containers cannot be perceived as a replacement for currently available technologies, they are already widely deployed. This paper proposes using containers for easier implementation of Identity Providers, while lowering resource usage and complexity imposed by deployment requirements.

Air pollution is a hot topic because of the impact it has on the human health. Due to a change of paradigm in air quality monitoring, new approaches are emerging (e.g. mobile participatory sensing). In this paper, we propose a solution for air quality monitoring, Airify, intended to make a shift from traditional stationary monitoring to a personal level scale. We present the architecture of the solution and the implementation of the smartphone application, as well as a scenario of use, together with the challenges we identified along the process of development.

In the present day, the TV Band has become a realistic option and has attracted much attention due to the potential to exploit underutilized TV white space for other communications, based on time and location. In this paper, we design a flexible system which uses a combination of geolocation database and spectrum sensing in the TV band, comparing the performance of different spectrum analyzers (Agilent E4407B, Agilent EXA N9010A and a low cost RTL-SDR) in the real environment.

This paper describes an adaptive antenna array that is able to spatially filter out multiple jamming signals from different directions using Taguchi's Optimization Method. A GPS antenna should cover a wide spatial angle to receive the maximum number of GPS signals but not too wide because jamming signals usually comes from a low elevation angle. Proposed system uses MUSIC algorithm to estimate DOA of jammers and Taguchi's Optimization Method to find optimum amplitude weight values in order to steer radiation nulls toward the jammer's directions while maintain the main beam constant. Proposed system can easily be replaced with conventional GPS antenna to improve GPS receiver jamming mitigation capabilities.
