We present an architecture of a system for stimulating intellectual activities of elderly. The system adapts to the user and is specially designed for older people using simple interface avoiding complex graphical solutions. Our goal is to use an IPTV as a device that is mostly used by elderly and integrate voice assistants, social networks, reminders and self-care system into a service offered to elderly. This will improve their quality of life by keeping intellectual activity on a high level with stimulation environment.

Diversity of radio access technologies, such as ZigBee, Bluetooth, LTE and Wi-Fi, together with growing requirements for their simultaneous use, significantly increase complexity of Internet of Things (IoT) wireless networks. A number of open challenges affect practical deployments, such as simultaneous use of multiple technologies, intelligent coordination of a subset of nodes, coexistence of different technologies using the same spectrum, efficient management of (simultaneously used) heterogeneous radio links, etc. This paper will consider Semantic Technology (ST), as a promising approach to coordination in such complex wireless infrastructures, especially in cases where interference models are not well understood. A Neural Network (NN) will be used for the network state estimation and ST for reasoning about required actions. It is based on semantic data sets mining such that coordination decisions may be driven by predictions instead of using physical spectrum sensing devices. ST facilitates reasoning about coordination, application priority, frequency selection and dynamic spectrum access. Because of capability of the NN to solve regression and classification problems, potentially problematic network states could be proactively avoided instead of reactively corrected particularly in priority critical applications.

This paper tackles an important and challenging problem of protecting players from irresponsible gambling behavior. Such prevention is a crucial and mandatory obligation for major gambling providers. The paper presents a novel machine learning driven solution for implementing the responsible gaming facility. The engine leverages two powerful machine learning algorithms: random forest and gradient boosting. The tests were actualized by reusing a publicly available dataset provided by Transparency Project. The final results confirm that the proposed implementation of the framework passes the criteria as a proof of concept solution.

This paper presents an approach to construct nonlinear control for switching DC-DC converters. What is presented are commonly used control methods and they are compared with nonlinear methods: sliding-mode control, hysteresis control and control using polytopic Lyapunov functions. In addition, an experimental realization of the sliding-mode controlled Buck converter is described in detail.

Indoor localization systems are getting more and more attention nowadays, as demand for location based services (LBS) is rising. Indoor propagation environment is quite demanding, with high influence of multipath and through-obstacle signal propagation, such conditions have negative impact on the indoor positioning. NLOS (non-line of sight) propagation is especially problematic and should be dealt with. In the paper a novel method for NLOS mitigation in UWB localization system is presented. System architecture is shown along with the description of the proposed method. Results of the performed experiment are also discussed.

An analysis of the telemetry data in the Azure SQL database reveals that the most frequent anomalies are due to the schema inconsistency errors which impairs normal functioning of the customer applications. We assumed that direct e-mail notifications to the customers could shorten time to resolve the problems. The benefits are first validated by sending e-mail recommendations manually. Then, an improved schema advisor which detects anomalies and automatically sends the appropriate notifications to the customers. Implementation which respects the feedback from the users was accompanied by continuous testing process as a modern way of a new feature development. Evaluation in a prolonged period confirmed the expected benefits.

Today IT vendors and mail/web/internet providers put their cloud strategy in the first place. Challenges such as data security, privacy protection, data access, storage model, lack of standards and service interoperability were set up almost ten years ago. This paper presents a part of the research on the cloud security systems at the infrastructure layer and its sublayer — network layer. To analyze and protect cloud systems we need storage and machines with extra features. Due to these needs, we used new technologies from Microsoft to suggest framework of host and network based systems for cloud intrusion detection and prevention system (CIDPS). The purpose of this research is to recommend use of the architecture for the detection network anomalies and protection of large amounts of data and traffic generated by cloud systems.

The X509 certification is one of the most important standards used today in a large number of different authentication mechanisms. As such, they represent one of the important topics at the Computer Security course at the School of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade. This paper describes a configurable system for handling X509 certificates, which has been used within the practical project at the Computer Security course. The system provides the ability to generate, sign, and manipulate X509 certificates. The system was implemented in such a way that the graphical user interface (GUI) is completely separated from the logic, which relaxes the students from GUI programming and enables them to concentrate on programming the part related to the certificates. The system has been successfully used at the course in the previous school year.

In designing robot control user interfaces it is not sufficient to simply focus on providing detailed and complete control capability, but ergonomy of use should also be taken into account. Resources in the robotics field are limited for a common user to access and demand deep knowledge of robot-specific programming paradigms. For these reasons, it is not often possible for inexperience students to become familiar with programming and control of complex robotic systems in a practical manner. This paper presents a new method for remote robot programming, control and monitoring independently of user's location by using smart phones, which focuses on ease-of-use, intuitiveness and minimizing the users' cognitive load while maintains abilities for accurately and efficiently programming and control. With the application of the proposed solution in education, the ability to work with inaccessible robotics systems and equipment through the intuitive virtual laboratories, independent on the user's location, is provided and thereby the quality of gaining knowledge is significantly improved.

The passive relay station implemented with two back-to-back antennas presents a possible, simple and cost-effective solution to achieve better radio-coverage quality inside the buildings. This paper presents theoretic analysis of the back-to-back solution for such application, followed by the experimental testing of one practical solution through the extensive measurement of achieved radio-coverage characteristics of an existing PMR network inside several electrical transformer station buildings. The measurement results confirmed, to a large extent, the results of the theoretical analysis, and it is concluded that the given solution, under the certain conditions, can be successfully applied for radio-coverage improvement inside the observed and similar type of buildings.
