Performance comparison between expanded uncertainty evaluation algorithms 扩展不确定性评估算法的性能比较

The use of normal approximation to estimate expanded uncertainty has been very widespread; yet this is one of the practices that is being criticized by various quarters for lack of rigor and potentially misleading. Monte Carlo method is probably the only method trusted to generate reliable expanded uncertainty. Unfortunately, Monte Carlo method is not applicable for type-A evaluations. This is one of the challenges faced by current researchers in measurement community. This paper presents the comparison of expanded uncertainty estimation accuracy between Monte Carlo method, normal approximation and four well-known moment based distribution fitting methods. The Cornish-Fisher approximation is found to be consistently better than normal approximation but none of the moment based approach is comparable to Monte Carlo method in terms of accuracy and consistency.

Thermal stress analysis of colored LEDs 彩色led的热应力分析

This paper illustrates the development and the experimental validation of a life model for LEDs subjected to thermal stress. The basis is the Arrhenius model for electrical insulation. The parameters of the life model are derived from accelerated life tests carried out on five samples of LEDs emitting light of different colours, namely red, green and blue. Each sample was subjected to a given value of constant temperature until the failure of all specimens. The diagnostic property for denoting failure is the residual light emitted by the LEDs under rated forward current, monitored continuously by a diagnostic system controlled via LabView. This study is the first step of an investigation whose ultimate goal is characterizing the endurance of LEDs having different colours to the stresses they face on duty, among which temperature is often one of the most challenging.

Modeling of the test fixtures to improve the HBC channel interpretation 建模的测试夹具,以提高HBC频道的解释

The Human Body Communication (HBC) presents security, power and interference advantages over common RF methods, which makes it an interesting alternative to implement body area networks. This paper presents a modeling attempt that takes into account the fixture influences present on the HBC channel characterization. An extended model, that includes the traditional primary channel model clearly identified, and the model of measurement accessories is proposed to better explain the measured channel responses. The model was tested against channel measurement and good results were obtained for frequencies below 70 MHz.

Multi-floor navigation method for mobile robot transportation based on StarGazer sensors in life science automation 生命科学自动化中基于StarGazer传感器的移动机器人多层导航运输方法

In this paper, a new multi-floor navigating method is proposed for the intelligent mobile robot transportation in life science laboratories. The proposed method includes two technical solutions as follows: (a) a solution is presented to build a multi-floor map for the mobile robots based on the ceiling landmarks and the robot on-board StarGazer sensors. All the installed ceiling landmarks are given an unique HEX ID and the StarGazer sensors work as a HEX reader to measure the ceiling HEX IDs to calculate the indoor positions of the mobile robots. With this solution, the multi-floor map can be extended and revised conveniently by the laboratory personal for any sizes of laboratory environments and any types of mobile robots; (b) a new approach is made to recognize and understand the environments of the elevators in the life science laboratories for the mobile robot multi-floor transportation. In the approach, the Microsoft Kinect sensors are utilized to measure the physical features of the elevators. Two experiments are provided to validate the performance of the proposed multi-floor navigation method. The results show that the proposed method is effective for the mobile robot multi-floor transportation in laboratory environments.

Wind turbine condition monitoring by detecting the transient period of a single generator stator current signal 风电机组状态监测是通过检测单个发电机暂态期间的定子电流信号实现的

A wind farm often consists of a number of wind turbines (WTs) operating simultaneously, which not only challenges the operation of the wind farm but makes the condition monitoring (CM) more costly than ever before if each turbine is equipped with a standard commercially available WT CM system (e.g. SKF's WindCon system). With the continual increase of wind farm size, the operator is under increasing pressure to lower the CM cost so that the energy cost can be accordingly reduced in the end. The research presented in this paper is for meeting such a requirement by developing a new cost-effective CM technique based on detecting the transient period of a single WT generator stator current signal. Instead of collecting multiple numbers of CM signals from WT key components, the new technique relies on the use of only a single electric current signal collected from WT generator stator. Moreover, the new technique directly deals with the time waveform of the signal without using any artificial transforms (e.g. Fourier transform). Therefore, it is potentially able to provide more reliable CM result. Experiments have shown that the proposed technique is valid for detecting both the electrical and mechanical faults emulated on a specially designed WT drive train test rig.

Microphone calibration for the measurement of acoustic transfer functions 用于测量声学传递函数的麦克风校准

Calibrated microphones are necessary in acoustic measurements if quantitative results are required. However, a relative calibration of the microphones against each other is sufficient if transfer functions are to be measured. A measurement set-up in the form of a tee-junction for the relative calibration of two microphones was investigated. The frequency response of the set-up and the influence of the geometric parameters were calculated with an analytical one-dimensional model of the geometry. Numerical simulations of the full geometry, including an uncertainty estimation, were performed for comparison. The numerical simulations showed that spatially non-uniform input pressure distributions across the input port cross-section equalize rapidly along the input pipe. A spatially uniform input pressure is therefore not necessary and the microphone calibration is insensitive to the pressure distribution of the acoustic driver. The results of the analytical and numerical models and the measurement of two electret microphones are compared.

Photocurrent measurement through frequency domain analysis 通过频域分析测量光电流

This paper presents the technique of using the frequency response function statistics of a photosensor to perform indirect light intensity measurement. Both random phase multisine and Gaussian noise source were designed as the excitation signals to the photodetector circuit. A miniature solar cell was used to provide the photo-generated current in tandem with different light irradiance from a LED light bulb with brightness control. The results show that the standard deviation of the frequency response function is a monotonic function of the photo-generated currents. Larger current (or light intensity) produces larger standard deviation. This promising result provides an indirect method to measure the photo response of optical sensors especially those sensors that produce minute photocurrent, thus avoiding environmental interference faced in wide-band direct current measurement technique.

Points of Load: Performance test in high-B environment 负载点:高b环境下的性能测试

The performance in magnetic field (B-field) of a DC-DC converter ad hoc designed for LHC operation has been evaluated. The tests have been carried out at the Laboratorio Acceleratori e Superconduttività Applicata (LASA), in Milan (Italy), in the first months of 2014 and the experimental results are here presented and discussed. The ability to operate in hostile environment of the tested DC-DC converter is very interesting in particular when used in measuring system for physics experiments. In this case, in fact, the presence of radiation and strong magnetic field make electronic devices challenged to function. In particular, in this paper the operation in high B-field environment has been investigated and discussed.

The tests have been carried out at the Laboratorio Acceleratori e Superconduttività Applicata (LASA), in Milan (Italy), in the first months of 2014 and the experimental results are here presented and discussed. The ability to operate in hostile environment of the tested DC-DC converter is very interesting in particular when used in measuring system for physics experiments. In this case, in fact, the presence of radiation and strong magnetic field make electronic devices challenged to function. Extended performance measurements of scalable 6LoWPAN networks in an Automated Physical Testbed 在自动化物理测试台上扩展可扩展6LoWPAN网络的性能测量

IPv6 over Low power Wireless Personal Area Networks, also known as 6LoWPAN, is becoming more and more a de facto standard for such communications for the Internet of Things, be it in the field of home and building automation, of industrial and process automation, or of smart metering and environmental monitoring. For all of these applications, scalability is a major precondition, as the complexity of the networks continuously increase. To maintain this growing amount of connected nodes a various 6LoWPAN implementations are available. One of the mentioned was developed by the authors' team and was tested on an Automated Physical Testbed for Wireless Systems at the Laboratory Embedded Systems and Communication Electronics of Offenburg University of Applied Sciences, which allows the flexible setup and full control of arbitrary topologies. It also supports time-varying topologies and thus helps to measure performance of the RPL implementation. The results of the measurements prove an excellent stability and a very good short and long-term performance also under dynamic conditions. In all measurements, there is an advantage of minimum 10% with regard to the average times, like global repair time; but the advantage with reagr to average values can reach up to 30%. Moreover, it can be proven that the performance predictions from other papers are consistent with the executed real-life implementations.

Two-stage processing system for the detection and on-site localization of acoustic emissions 声发射探测与现场定位的两阶段处理系统

In this paper a system of two-stage processing for the detection of acoustic emissions and the localization of the sources is presented. The first stage is programmed in LabVIEW and is dedicated to the detection. A second stage is programmed in Matlab and is devoted to the localization. They are connected by a packet-transfer protocol, which also provides of communication for a remote operation. This system combines the advantages of LabVIEW for the multichannel acquisition and denoising of signals and the advantages of Matlab for the data processing. Additionally, several methods of solving the localization equations system have been described and tested. Different solution strategies are compared. The figure of merit is the precision over the runtime. The indirect non-interactive method and the particle-swarm-optimization method provide the best results under conditions of noisy detection.
