Switching local search particle filtering for heat exchanger degradation prognosis 交换局部搜索粒子滤波的换热器退化预测

Sequential Monte Carlo (SMC) or particle filtering (PF) has demonstrated effectiveness in non-linear and non-Gaussian system estimation, due to its unique approach for posterior probability density function estimation. However, classical PF techniques suffer from particle degeneracy and sample impoverishment. This paper proposes a new scheme for joint state and parameter estimation, based on the sequential importance resampling (SIR) particle filter. First, a local search strategy is proposed as a resampling strategy to overcome particle impoverishment. Second, a switching multiple modes filter is adopted to handle sudden changes of parameters in the state evolution model due to faults, which cannot be processed by conventional PF that assumes gradual parameter variations over a long period. The proposed estimation method is applied to degradation and remaining useful life (RUL) prediction of dynamic systems, such as heat exchanger in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Both natural and transient degradations are evaluated, while parameters dominating the degradation models are assumed to change before and after transient decay. The developed method is evaluated using simulation data, and results demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed method in state estimation and degradation prediction in heat exchanger.

Parameter identification of thermoeletric modules using particle swarm optimization 基于粒子群算法的热电模块参数辨识

This paper presents a methodology to estimate thermoelectric module (TEM) internal parameters based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. To obtain the correct TEM representation, it is necessary a proper model identification procedure to represent the TEM operation, both in DC and other relevant frequencies. Classical methods for linear parameter estimation are not suitable for the nonlinear TEM characteristics of the proposed model. We devise a model with twenty-one parameters, which represent parts of the two TEMs employed, including top, lower and middle layers and heat-sinks. The TEM is excited using an electrical current signal with power spectral density of a white noise, and the temperature response is adopted as output for the PSO algorithm to make the estimation. For numerical stability and proper estimation, the white noise excitation is filtered before, to obtain a dynamically persistent signal with high and low frequencies components. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the PSO in TEM parameters estimation.

High performance liquid chromatography LCC analysis 高效液相色谱LCC分析

This manuscript deals with the reliability and availability analysis of a business equipment class used in a modern enterprise context aiming at the analysis of production breakdown reduction. In order to prevent a failure, reliability and availability analysis either of a instrument or of a product, assume a central role. This paper analyzes a specific case in a diagnostic pharmaceutical environment. The focus is on a scientific instrumentation class, High-Performance Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC), which is inspected, maintained and serviced on outsourcing basis. The aim of this paper is to show how this kind of analysis can help in scheduling preventive maintenance, reducing the costs, defining the Service Level Agreement (SLA) for service suppliers, increasing simultaneously, the instruments availability and reliability.

A simple measurement scheme for multiple capacitors and its application to an ophthalmic anesthesia training system 一种简单的多电容测量方案及其在眼麻醉训练系统中的应用

Capacitive sensors are widely used due to their robustness and accuracy. In several applications such as proximity detection, multiple capacitances have to be measured simultaneously. This could involve multiple transmitter electrodes and a receiver electrode connected to the body whose proximity is to be detected. In order to excite the transmitter electrodes, a single sinusoidal source is multiplexed to each electrode one at a time, while capacitance measurements are made between the excited electrode and the receiver. This process is slow and limited by the switching speed of the multiplexer used and hence all the capacitances involved cannot be measured simultaneously. To address this issue, a simple multiple-frequency capacitive measurement scheme is proposed in this paper. Sinusoidal signals of unique frequencies are produced using a binary counter and used as excitation for the transmitter electrodes. The displacement current received by the receiver is converted to a voltage signal and fast Fourier transform is performed on it to extract the magnitudes of the frequency components corresponding to the excitation frequencies. Thus, all the capacitances involved can be measured simultaneously. A simulation study performed, showed that the proposed multiple frequency scheme has low cross-excitation sensitivity compared to the multiplexer based scheme. Finally, the proposed scheme was implemented on an ophthalmic anesthesia training system to detect the proximity of the needle to important structures of the eye model. Test results from a prototype developed show that the scheme is effective in detecting the needle proximity and touch to various ocular structures thus demonstrating its use for practical proximity detection purposes.

Effect of periodic cable nonuniformities on transmission measurements 周期性电缆不均匀性对传输测量的影响

This paper presents a likely explanation for dips observed in transmission coefficient measurements (S21) for twisted-pair copper cables. We show via computer simulations that periodic cable nonuniformities behave like selective filters, prohibiting electromagnetic wave to propagate at certain frequencies. Similar effect is achieved in optics using fiber Bragg grating (FBG) and may be analyzed as such. The simulation results indicate that periodic cable nonuniformities acting like a FBG is a plausible reasoning to explain the presence of dips.

Impact of sampling frequency on accuracy of unbalance factor measurement by DFT 采样频率对DFT测量不平衡因子精度的影响

The proposed paper is to discuss the problem of accuracy of unbalance factor measurement by discrete Fourier transform (DFT). Particularly, a problem of inappropriate sampling frequency is considered, when signals are sampled non-coherently. The measurement window width and its shape are considered as well. All analyses are based on analytical solutions as well as simulation and experimental research.

Weigh in Motion systems for railway vehicles: Performance and robustness analysis 轨道车辆运动称重系统:性能和鲁棒性分析

One of the most important issue in the railway research is represented by the accurate estimation of the axle loads of railway vehicles. Weigh in Motion (WIM) devices are designed to measure loads with the vehicle in motion, making the weighing process more efficient. This paper is focused on an innovative algorithm for high speed WIM applications able to estimate the wheel loads of trains by means of indirect track measurements. The novelty of the proposed estimation method are its generality, the possibility to be used with different layouts and its robustness against numerical and measure noise. The main estimation procedure is based on least square (LSQ) minimization techniques, used to process the set of experimental physical input. The whole WIM architecture has been developed in cooperation with Ansaldo STS and ECM SpA.

Monitoring user position in the GiraffPlus AAL environment 监控用户在GiraffPlus AAL环境中的位置

In Ambient Assisted Living scenarios, elderly people are supported by pervasive and smart environments in their daily mobility and activities, with which they interact by means of a variety of devices and services deployed in the house. These devices, in addition to their particular function, can provide useful context information about the user behavior. In this paper we propose an indoor localization technique that exploits the presence of commercially available devices in the GiraffPlus AAL environment. GiraffPlus is a EU funded project, running in several test sites across Europe, that combines social interaction and long-term monitoring to help people live independently. In this context, the proposed localization algorithm is able to provide the position information in terms of last room visited by the user improving considerably the reaction of a user's caregiver in emergency situations. This paper also aims at providing a performance characterization of the commercially available devices used in the GiraffPlus AAL environments. We prove that, in order to guarantee an high level of reliability, this kind of device show a considerable transmission delay that makes the localization process non-trivial.

Voice pathology detection by fuzzy logic 基于模糊逻辑的语音病理检测

In this paper an efficient feature extraction methods and fuzzy logic based disorder assessment technique were used to investigate voice signals of patients suffering from functional dysphonia, hyperfunctional dysphonia, vocal cord paralysis and laryngitis. In this work, a vector made up from 28 acoustic parameters was an input for Principal Component Analysis, kernel Principal Component Analysis and Auto-associative Neural Network. Using S-shaped membership function of fuzzy logic, signals were clustered into 2 classes - healthy and pathology one. The amount of fuzzy membership of normal and pathological voice signals in their corresponding clusters was a measure to quantify the membership of the features of a particular class. In the end, S-shaped fuzzy logic method was used as a way of voice pathology detection. A classification accuracy up to 100 percent was achieved using initial 28 feature vector.

De-noising of rail crack AE signal based on wavelet modulus maxima 基于小波模极大值的钢轨裂纹声发射信号去噪

On the basis of wavelet modulus maxima characterization of local regularity theory and the advantages of wavelet transform, an optimized wavelet modulus maxima de-noising method applied on rail crack AE signal is presented in this paper. In the background of the new real-time rail crack detection method by AE, wavelet modulus maxima de-noising is proved to be an effective way to extract the crack signal. Different parameters choosing principles in different noise conditions are discussed, in order to get the best de-noise effectiveness at different speed. The Segmented multi-frequency damping oscillation model is proposed, and the relation between the simulate signal and the real ones are found. Through the experiments of simulate signals, the principles of selecting proper parameters and the de-noising abilities at different speed are demonstrated, which give a strong evidence of the effectiveness of this method.
