The essay describes the first results of a biennial research project that focuses on the survey, digitization and restitution of the statues preserved at the Venice National Archaeological Museum. The focus is particularly on Roman copies of Greek originals that have undergone extensive restorations since the second half of the sixteenth century, in order to document their transformations in multimedia installations that guide the visitor in understanding and reading the works, with the aim of integrating them in a temporary exhibition and in the new museum set-up scheduled for 2022.

The case-study analysed and discussed in this paper, IN LOCO – The Widespread Museum of Abandonment , offers an example of urban and cultural regeneration project as driver for economic, environmental and social development. The project has been designed as a process of permanent urban and cultural regeneration of abandoned places with the aim to raise an awareness and cultural knowledge on these forgotten places, and to connect them through a series of itineraries that testify the social, cultural and economic evolutions of a territory and a society in a permanent state of transition. Furthermore, the paper presents how, with the support of the EU research project gE.CO , the contents and tools of IN LOCO have the ambition to build a platform capable to trigger effective processes of place-making, participation and finally regeneration for city-makers, local communities and public administrations.

The research analyzes the use of immersive reality for the involvement of citizens in codesign paths. The aim of the study is to analyze how, through the potential of digital simulation, it is possible to reactivate a path of re-appropriation of the public space as a place of projection of one's identity. The foundation of the research is the observation of the new role of digital squares and the will of involving the youth, increasingly detached from these decision-making processes, in participatory processes. In the anthropological interpretation of the “homo laudens” so structural in the liquid society, the project proposal is configured as a sort of game, where it is possible to transform space into multiple configurations. The pervasive capacity of digital representation thus defines a participation of meanings and it enhances, also with a playful approach, the logic of information and awareness that today are the foundation of the Internet of People and the multidimensional living.

The article presents the results of research on the former monastery-hospital of San Pietro in Luco di Mugello, studied from a historical point of view and analyzed by means of an integrated survey. The aerial photogrammetry with drone and the laser scanner survey have made it possible to investigate the architectural complex in depth even by virtually entering it. The representation obtained presents a millimetric correctness necessary in confirming the stratigraphic investigation and useful for defining the current state in which it is located. The study was aimed at revaluing the architecture and blocking the advanced state of degradation, the result of poor maintenance and abandonment of the last decades, providing a useful basis also for a hypothesis of reuse of the structure.
