A support system for hight-quality urban green management in Tuscany 托斯卡纳高质量城市绿色管理支持系统

Nowadays, several ongoing processes, ranging from climate change to alien pests spreading, make plants protection and green care more complex, forcing the adoption of stringent management rules and changing traditional operational frameworks. In Tuscany, green maintenance has become extremely challenging for municipal technical departments and private companies having the responsibility of High-Quality Urban Green Area Management (HQ-UGAM), characterized by different types of plants and services. The application of new technologies such IoT (Internet of Things), geomatics and automation, could provide concrete assistance for precision gardening, increasing the sustainability of the management practices.  This paper describes the general structure and main components of GARANTES, a support system for green maintenance, oriented also to improve the analytical performance of decision-makers and stakeholders in site design and fieldwork programming.

Gaming as a disembodied experience of the city: from Assassin's Creed to 'Smart Learner' 游戏作为城市的一种无实体体验:从《刺客信条》到《聪明的学习者》

Τhis paper explores the role of gaming as a learning tool in the design disciplines, and suggests a methodology of work that bridges urban planning with virtually reconstructed environments. Building on the growing body of literature at the intersection of gaming, learning, and urban planning, the paper analyzes the simulation of the city of Rome in the video game Assassin's Creed and argues on the reliability of its morphology in relation to the real city. In this way, the paper confirms the didactic outcomes in the passage from the real city to the digital one, allowing for the creation of a theoretical and empirical reflection on the method to use it in an educational setting. As such, the paper builds on the idea of how gaming offers a disembodied experience of the city arguing about its didactic and social impact on a new generation of ‘smart learners’.

Re-start from public spaces: new perspectives for the historic center of Treia in the Marche Region 从公共空间重新开始:马尔凯地区Treia历史中心的新视角

The tragic seismic events developed in the inland areas of the Marche Region, have brought out, more clearly, phenomena that were already underway for some decades: depopulation and abandonment, economic decline and consequent construction degradation. In the case of some urban settlement within the seismic zone, we witness a scenario of almost total devastation, which requires not only a reconstruction but a real new foundation. For the re-foundation of Apennine historic centers devastated by the earthquake, it is possible to assume new interpretative paradigms, starting from the public spaces, that are space of connection and aggregation. It is analyzed the main square in the historic center of Treia, a small nucleus in the inland area of the Marche Region, to verify a project strategy, which focuses on that public space.

GPR Prospecting at the Castle of Alceste in San Vito dei Normanni (Brindisi, Italy) 意大利布林迪西圣维托代诺曼尼阿尔凯斯特城堡的地质雷达勘探

In this contribution we will show the results of a non-invasive GPR prospecting performed in the archaeological site of San Vito dei Normanni, in the outskirts of Brindisi, Apulia region, southern Italy, where the ancient population of the Messapians had an important settlement. The present work was performed in the framework of a school in the field financed by the Basilicata Region. The interpretation of the data has been based on the depth slices, on the processed Bscans and on the a-priori available information is provided. Future excavations will be driven also by the results achieved from this GPR prospecting.

Spectroscopic investigations of pigments on a late Roman milestone from Calabria, Southern Italy. 意大利南部卡拉布里亚罗马晚期里程碑上颜料的光谱研究。

In this paper the compositional and structural analysis of a Roman milestone, preserved in the Antiquarium of the archaeological park of Bova Marina, Reggio Calabria, south of Italy, was performed. A combination of spectroscopic techniques was employed for this purpose. Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM+EDX) was used for the morphological investigation and quantitative elemental analysis of the investigated samples; Raman Spectroscopy (RS) was employed to identify their crystalline mineral components and to study their microstructure. The chemical analysis allowed us to identify elements and compounds, closely related to the sample preparation, with the aim to investigate about nature and the possible artistic technique, to better understand the original aspect of this late-Empire road system.

Virtual reality is proving to be an interesting tool for the visualization of 3d models developed for urban planning. It allows not only interactive visualization, but also the possibility of inserting analogical and informative contents. The case study relates to the development of a 3D model viewable in virtual reality of the Port of Palermo area, of great urban, historical and logistical interest. The system allows the visualization of its current state, historical emergencies and future developments, as well as the comparison between existing services and those planned in the reconfiguration project.

The research investigates the contemporary urban space structuring through the Drawing and the Survey methods, as places for experimentation and control of the city transformation dynamics. Is assumed as an example the 19th century foundation orthogonal grid of the Bari city which reveals the dynamism of changes taking place on the historical settlement. Starting from the city representation, the visual qualities are analyzed of some main roads that originally constituted the perceptive support of the city spatial unity. The graphic reconstruction, obtained from the street fronts two-dimensional representation and from the public spaces three-dimensional survey, with the use of photomodeling tools and laser scanner technologies, has allowed a deep reading of the visual described aspects. The knowledge process, implemented in the representation space, drives the environment projects towards conscious choices that protect the fragile historic city.

Cultural Heritage communication and digital resources: three examples from Messapian archaeology 文化遗产传播与数字资源——以梅萨皮亚考古为例

Digital resources play a key role in the use of our cultural heritage. Awareness of their importance has grown considerably over the last two decades, but it is above all in the current world health emergency that they have proven to be fundamental. A number of multimedia products created since 2000 to present the Cultural Heritage are accessible on the CEIT portal of the University of the Salento. This paper illustrates three of these products, created in the years 2008-2010, with the aim of communicating to the public the results of scientific research conducted in southern Puglia on the archaeology of the Messapians in an effective way. These, the fruit of pioneering projects, have given rise to new horizons and challenges in digital technologies, and to new models of scientific communication and universal use of the cultural heritage, which today are more important than ever.

GIS and DTM for the analysis of the archaeological data in Vaste (Southern Apulia) Vaste(南普利亚)考古数据的GIS与DTM分析

The use of digital technologies has brought about a remarkable development in the field of archaelogical research. The combined use of tools such as GIS and DTM has guaranteed the possibility of simulating a few aspects of ancient landscapes, contributing to recognise the strategies on which the choice of the sites destined to become settlements in ancient times was based. In the Vaste-Poggiardo area (province of Lecce), systematic research made by the University of Salento has produced an incredibile amount of knowledge on archaelogical evidence dating back to between the Bronze Age and the Middle Ages; on the very basis of this data the experimentation of a spatial analysis in order to reconstruct the ancient landscape has been conducted. The management of the DTM, processed through QGis, has made it possible to use the outcome of spatial analysis to propose a clearer reconstruction of settlements in the Vaste area.

This paper reports preliminary results of ongoing interdisciplinary research in digital humanities and animation. This research explores visualisation techniques (e.g., motion graphics, 3D animation, Non-Photorealistic Rendering) to empower the study of depicted objects in Renaissance treatises on architecture and engineering. The aim is to pioneer a method that can be adopted by both scholars in the humanities and practitioners in animation to 1) take advantage of available editions and scholarship via interactive online systems (e.g., Engineering Historical Memory); 2) map and decode visual information and knowledge embodied in manuscripts; 3) create philologically correct 3D models and storytelling to unfold narratives embedded in drawings. As a showcase, this paper used Francesco di Giorgio Martini’s drawings of the Corinthian capital in the manuscripts Ashburnham 361 ( Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana , Florence) and Saluzzo 148 ( Musei Reali , Turin).
