The Effect of Reading Aloud Strategy for Developing Reading Habits 朗读策略对养成阅读习惯的影响

The purpose of this study is to determine whether or not the reading aloud technique aided eighth-grade junior high school students in developing reading habits. This is pre-experimental quantitative research. The instruments utilized in this study will be a test and a questionnaire. This study's population included 56 students from two classes, with 29 serving as the sample. The data was collected in the classroom using a reading-aloud activity. Descriptive and inferential statistics were utilized to analyze the data from the reading aloud application, as well as questionnaire analysis to assess the students' reading habits. The data demonstrated that majority of the students in the classroom were acquiring reading habits as a result of Reading Aloud. Strategy was applied and it proved that the Reading Aloud Strategy was effective to develop the students’ reading habits. Based on the findings, it is therefore recommended among others that students should start to apply this strategy in case to develop their reading habits which are useful for their future and it was recommended that teachers should help students pay more attention to their reading attitude. It can be done by providing a variety of books, encouraging independent reading, or organizing class activities. And the teacher encourages their students to read extensively.

Linking Adverbials in Indonesian EFL Students’ Essays: A Corpus-Driven Study 印尼语英语学生作文中的连系状语:语料库驱动的研究

Writing is the activity of arranging and organizing ideas that need some logical connectors to make the ideas cohesively structured. There are several plausible means for cohesiveness, including linking adverbials (LAs). This study examines the LA categories found in EFL students’ academic essays and explores how EL students use them. The data were collected from students’ essays compiled as a learner corpus, Learner Corpus of Academic Writing, comprising 52,404 words. The present study employed LancsBox as the corpus tool and The Louvain Corpus of Native English Essays as the control corpus to assist the analysis. The study results show that all primary categories of LAs are found in the corpus. However, the subcategory transition to another topic is absent from the corpus. In the frequency of use, causal resultative LAs outnumber all other categories, followed by additive and adversative LAs. As for the least frequent LAs, the study identified sequential types. In comparison to the native writer corpus, it is found that there are shared similarities, including the categories and the subcategories of LAs found in both corpora. Regarding the frequency of use, the most frequent types are relatively similar with different positions, namely causal resultative and additive LAs, while the least frequent type is sequential. These results suggest more considerations in designing writing materials, especially in regard to transition markers belonging to the sequential category.

Content Analysis of Religious Articles in the Opinion Column in the Palopo Pos Daily Newspaper 《八婆邮报》评论版宗教文章的内容分析

The purpose of this article is to describe the standard content of religious articles required by the daily newspaper Palopo Pos, and the contents of religious articles submitted by the author of the article in the opinion column in the daily newspaper Palopo Pos. The type of research is classified as qualitative with the research approach used are: linguistic approach, journalistic approach and da'wah approach. The data source for this research is the daily newspaper Palopo Pos and other sources in the form of literature, both related to journalism and linguistics. Furthermore, the data collection method used is documentation and reference tracing. Then processing techniques and data analysis were carried out using content analysis theory by Ole. R. Holsti. According to him, content analysis is used to answer the questions "what, to whom, and how" of a communication process. The results of this study answered questions about the standard content of religious articles required by the daily newspaper Palopo Pos that Palopo Pos did not set certain standards in accepting religious articles. As long as the contents of the written article are to call for goodness and increase faith in Allah SWT, educate readers according to religion and without creating fights against other religions, then anyone's article about religion can be published. Furthermore, from the analysis of the several articles studied, all of the articles all lead to religious issues and social issues that are currently being discussed in society. These themes try to find common ground so that a merciful Islam can be carried out in a calm, peaceful and peaceful manner by all Muslims in Indonesia as well as non-Muslims, so that peace can be created between religious communities and a nation that upholds the value of diversity in frame of Pancasila values.

A Review of Flipped Classroom Model for Promoting Students’ Basic English Skills 促进学生基本英语技能的翻转课堂模式述评

Twenty-first-century learning has recently become increasingly known and widely applied during the learning process. Considering the learning situation and conditions during this era, where the learning process is carried out online and face-to-face or this is known as blended learning. The use of technology is important during this learning model. Teachers are required to apply learning methods that are appropriate to the current situation. In this review, the flipped classroom model is one of the appropriate learning models to be applied in blended learning in order to promote students’ English basic skills. The present study adopted George’s model (2008) that was adjusted into a qualitative design by Ariantini et al. (2021). The results show that the flipped classroom model can promote students' English basic skills.

The Community Manipulation through Big Brother’s Tyranny in George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty Four 乔治·奥威尔《一九八四》中老大哥暴政下的社区操纵

This research aimed on some instruments or agencies that implemented in constracting the community engineering in Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty Four, describe the logic used and present the community engineering carried out the novel. The writer then uses library research and sosiology literature as method in analyzing the novel. The data were collected by using note taking technique which exists in Nineteen Eighty-Four accord with the pages. Then, all the quotation classified and analyzed based on the case that had beeen arround by each moment/event in that novel. After doing the considerable study, the writer finds basically the bad effect of human engineering to the society. The over control by agents were bringing individuals’ loss of human nature and a critical thinking faculty and the diminished capacity for self expression. So, finally the human being is not exists as a human with high level values, in fact in this novel, human is less than the animal.

Analysis Cooperative Principle in Back To The Outback Movie: Pragmatic Approach 分析电影《回到内地》中的合作原则:实用主义方法

In this study, the cooperative principles described by the characters in the Back to the Outback movie are implemented using Grice's theory. The research uses qualitative descriptive to explain the data. Sudaryanto collected data using non-participatory and observational methods. The data was then examined using the Pragmatic Identity Method and the Matching method. The data were examined in context using the pragmatic identity method. There are four types of maxims in the cooperative principle found. the total maxim of data is 32 data. the results found maxim of quantity data as much as 9 data, maxim of quality 6 data, maxim of manner 10 data, maxim of relation 7 data. The most widely used data is the maxim of manner. Lastly, the maxim of quality is the data that is used the least by the characters in the Back to the Outback movie.

Improve Vocabulary by Using Media Animated the Folklore of Malin Kundang 利用媒体动画提高词汇量——马林昆当民间传说

In addition to local expertise that we must conserve, such as folklore, the rapid growth of technology in the field of education makes learning easier through tools like audio-visual animation media. Malin Kundang is just one example of the many varieties of folklore that exist. The goals of this research are threefold: (1) to determine whether or not students can benefit from learning about Malin Kundang folklore; (2) to use Malin Kundang folklore as a means to expand vocabulary; and (3) to determine whether or not using Malin Kundang folklore can be used to improve learning outcomes. In this work, we employ quantitative techniques. In order to describe events, establish links, or test hypotheses, quantitative research relies on the collection and analysis of numerical data. A student survey is one example of such a device. The researcher employed SPPS to perform the necessary calculations. Students' comprehension of the English language is significantly improved when they are exposed to animated media based on malin kundang folklore, according to a review of the available research.

Malin Kundang is just one example of the many varieties of folklore that exist. The goals of this research are threefold: (1) to determine whether or not students can benefit from learning about Malin Kundang folklore; (2) to use Malin Kundang folklore as a means to expand vocabulary; and (3) to determine whether or not using Malin Kundang folklore can be used to improve learning outcomes. In this work, we employ quantitative techniques. In order to describe events, establish links, or test hypotheses, quantitative research relies on the collection and analysis of numerical data. A student survey is one example of such a device. The researcher employed SPPS to perform the necessary calculations. The Functions of Conversational Implicature in “Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness” 2022 《疯狂多元宇宙中的奇异博士》对话含义的功能

The purpose of this research is to find the functions of conversational implicature in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness movie based on Grice's theory by using Cooperative Principle as a guidance. Conversational implicature is how the same sentence can be understood to have two opposite meanings even though both are conveyed explicitly. Cooperative Principles are often interpreted as general guidelines that cover conversational interactions. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method to analyze the data proposed by Sudaryanto 2015 namely the observational method. Researchers collected with are several steps taken by the researcher, first the researcher watched the movie and transcribed the conversation, the second researcher checked the utterance containing the implicature, the third researcher analyzed the highlighted data. Based on the research findings, the most dominant maxim violations that occur in this movie are relation maxim with 10 data, quality maxim violation with 6 data, quantity maxim violation with 2 data, then maxim of manner violation with 2 data.

Videos in Teaching Listening: A Systematic Literature Review 视频在听力教学中的应用:系统的文献综述

The purpose of this study was to evaluate at articles published between 2017 and 2022 that explored the benefits and impact of using video-based learning in the classroom to teach listening. It was considered as a Systematic Literature Review. Data were obtained from ERIC as an online journal database which served a number of reputable journals. They were gathered and analyzed through a systematic examination covering four phases, such as identification, screening, eligibility, and exclusion. In the first phase, 132 articles were obtained however at the last after filtering process, there were only 5 articles remaining. Actually, most of the sources stated that videos play its roles well in enhancing students’ listening skills. Yet, another innovation in using videos in teaching listening were really expected to be investigated for future studies.

Analysis Cooperative Principle in Turning Red Movie: Pragmatic Approach 《转红电影》中的合作原则:语用分析

This study examined several cooperative ideas expressed by characters in turning red movies using Grice's theory. This study used descriptive qualitative analysis to interpret the data. Observational methods and taking a note were used to collect the data by Sudaryanto. Following that, the data were analyzed using the Matching technique and the Pragmatic Identity Method to examine the data in context. The cooperation principle contained four types of maxims. There were 54 maxims of total in the data. It was discovered the results of maxim quantity with 13 data, 9 data maxim of quality, 3 data for the maxim of relevance, and maxim of manner with 9 data. Simple terms, the quantity maxim was the most widely used data piece. The maxim of relation was the smallest principle that the Turning red movie characters used.
