Introduction: The Ayurvedic Acharya, in the Samhita, highlighted the significance of the eye as a vital organ  (Saravendranam Nayam Pradhanam). This study focuses on the Ayurvedic approach to ocular health, with an  emphasis on the Kriyakalpa therapy for Netra Rogas, particularly the method of Putapaka. Methods: Acharya Sushruta advocated Putapaka as a key therapy for ocular conditions, integrating Tarpana and  Putapaka Rasa in a unique manner. The method, described as considerably altered, is recommended for kapha dominant conditions but adaptable for vata and pitta imbalances. This article explores the Netra Putpaka Kriyakalpa,  drawing insights from Ayurvedic texts for its detailed description. Results: Netra Putpaka emerges as a crucial therapeutic approach for eye diseases, emphasizing its efficacy in  Ayurvedic ocular care. Despite being time-consuming and less commonly practiced by Shalakya professionals, its  importance in treating various ocular conditions is underscored. Discussion: This article aims to bridge the gap between traditional Ayurvedic knowledge and contemporary scientific  understanding. By sharing efficient methods for preparing Putapaka Rasa, the study emphasizes the relevance of  Netra Putpaka in ocular treatment, providing valuable insights for the wider scientific community. Conclusion: Netra Putpaka Kriyakalpa stands out as a valuable Ayurvedic therapeutic modality for diverse eye  conditions. This exploration contributes to the integration of traditional Ayurvedic practices into modern healthcare,  promoting a holistic approach to ocular health.

Background: Cancer is a growing problem worldwide, and new strategies for its management and treatment are  required. The immune system plays a crucial role in cancer progression and the response to treatment. Recent studies  have demonstrated that practicing yoga can positively affect the immune system. This review aimed to examine the  impact of yoga on immune parameters in patients with cancer. Methods: We conducted literature searches across several scientific databases for trials published from 2014 to 2023.  Studies were selected based on specific criteria, including randomized controlled trials involving yoga interventions  with quantitative outcome assessments. Results: Eight studies met our inclusion criteria. These findings suggest that practicing yoga can significantly improve  immune function in patients with cancer. Key findings include reductions in inflammatory cytokines, improvements  in natural killer cell counts, and modulated gene expression related to immune cell survival. Specific studies have  demonstrated benefits in reducing stress and fatigue, enhancing overall quality of life (QoL), and immunological  benefits. Conclusion: This review indicates that yoga interventions hold substantial promise in enhancing immune function  and overall QoL in patients with cancer.

Review on Clinical Perspective of Multiple Substance use Disorder and its Ayurvedic Management
Pub Date : 2024-02-29 DOI: 10.48165/irjay.2024.70209

Background: Substance use disorder (SUD) is a condition in which there is uncontrolled use of a substance despite  harmful consequences. Multiple Substance Use Disorders (MSU) include two or more substances taken together  or within a short time period, either intentionally or unintentionally. This may lead to problems such as health  issues, disability, failure to meet work responsibilities, and difficulties at school and home. Studies have concluded  that opiates, cannabis, amphetamines, hallucinogens, inhalants, and benzodiazepines are often used in combination  as well. This leads to social, academic, and occupational impairment, along with possible negative health effects.  Individuals who abuse one substance are more likely to use other substances as well. Among those aged 12 or older,  61.2 million people (i.e., 21.9% of the population) used illicit drugs in the past year. Objective: To highlight the Ayurvedic clinical perspective in the management of multiple SUDs. Method: In Ayurveda, SUD may be approached by adapting the management principles of madatyaya after  assessing the dosha combination as per the clinical presentation. Several combinations useful for the management  of the condition, including addiction and withdrawal management, are explained. Ashtanga Lavana, Ajmodarka,  Sreekandasava, and Drakshadi Kwatha are some of the medicines used internally to reduce withdrawal symptoms.  Panchakarma therapies, along with yoga and Satvavajaya Chikitsa, including family therapy, have a very good  outcome in managing substance withdrawal, dependence, and even inpreventing relapse. Results: By adopting the Ayurvedic principles, the outcome of MSU management may be enhanced, and the relapse  may also be possible to reduced with the biopsychosocial approach. Conclusion: Evidence-based clinical studies are the need of the hour so as to prove the authenticity of such a clinical  perspective explained in Ayurvedic parlance.

In the Sharira, Vata is seen as the controller of all things. Vatavyadhi is the term for the influence of vitiated vata on the Dusyas, which permeate the whole body or a portion of it and give rise to various sorts of illness. One of the  significant illnesses that fits this description is pakshaghata, also referred to as hemiplegia. One Vataj Nanatmaja  Vyadhi who is regarded as a Mahavatavyadhi is Pakshaghata. There is a correlation between pakshaghata and  hemiplegia, a condition caused by a cerebrovascular accident or stroke. Hemiplegia, which results in both mental  and physical instability. In the world’s population, there are around 9 instances per 1000 people. A stroke is described  as an abrupt onset of vascular mechanism-related neurologic impairment. 15% are initial hemorrhages, and 85% are  ischemic. The World Health Organization estimates that 15 million stroke victims globally experience a stroke each  year, of whom 5 million die and another 5 million become permanently incapacitated. According to current scientific  theory, brain injuries that are too severe for treatment to reverse can result in lifelong neurological impairment. As a  result, the prognosis for the illness is dismal, leaving the crippled individual dependent. The current research aims to  provide baseline data for student physicians to cope with this terrible condition by identifying the etiopathogenesis,  clinical aspects, and therapy of the disease from Ayurvedic classics.

“Geriatrics in Ayurveda” is authored by experts from both the fields of Ayurveda and modern medicine, seamlessly  blending anecdotes from both medical systems. Geriatrics is Emerging as a challenging speciality, because of ever  growing population of Aged people all over the world including India. In near Future, Every physician has to “treat’  a large Number of Aging Problems of our Ripe and Senior citizens in their CLINICS. Ayurveda system of Medicine  (ASM) offers an Excellent Line of Management for these i.e. Aging problems under Rasayana and ‘Rasa’ therapies. In  fact ‘Jara’ is an exclusive therapy for old-age related complaints. Keeping all these concepts in view, a systematic search  to gather the relevant and useful information on “Geriatrics in Ayurveda” has been attempted along with inputs from  (MODERN) Geriatrics, so as to have a comprehensive book on GERITRICS with Practical and clinical applications. The presented book was studied, analyzed, and compared with other contemporary works on a similar subject.

Background: Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disorder that can lead to unpredictable hair loss. Alopecia areata  is a common autoimmune disorder that often results in unpredictable hair loss. In most cases, hair falls out in small  patches around the size of a quarter. There may be only a few patches, but alopecia areata can affect wider areas of  the scalp. In Ayurveda texts, a similar condition is mentioned in Kshudrarogas known as Indralupta. Aims: This study sets out to evaluate the effectiveness of Shamana Aoushadhi and Jalaukavacharana in curing  Alopecia areata. Materials and Methods: It is a single-case study of a 24-year-old female patient with a complaint of asymptomatic  loss of hair at a single site over the scalp with itching and dandruff for 1.5 years. This case of Alopecia areata  (Indralupta) was successfully treated with seven sittings of Jalaukavacharana (leech therapy) and Ayurveda  medication. Result: The patch was immensely filled with lustrous black hairs at the end of the follow-up period. Conclusion: Thus, it can be said that Jaloukavacharana and Shamana Aushadh, two Ayurvedic treatments, offer a  favorable outcome for Indralupta patients.

Introduction: With the recent rise in awareness in increased understanding of the importance of physical activity  in promoting overall health, greater emphasis has been placed on improving physical fitness to enhance quality  of life. Asian Indians have been practicing Surya Namaskar, a part of Hatha Yoga, for hundreds of years. It is  frequently employed in place of a typical workout regimen. It entails a series of asanas that are performed 12 times  per cycle. Although Surya Namaskar was neither considered an asana nor a part of classical Yoga, it is now regarded  as a component of current yogic practices. Before starting daily tasks, performing Surya Namaskar energizes the  practitioner and gives them a fully charged day. The knowledge of energy cost and physiological responses of  practicing Surya Namaskar is important and forms the basis for the recommendation of regular practice as part of any  training. Based on available research, we emphasize the significance of Surya Namaskar in this review by stressing  its impacts on the physiological components of the body. Methods: Different Ayurveda classics, modern classics, research papers, and journals were referred to fulfill this part. Results: With the help of research references, the evaluation outlines the practice’s physical advantages in terms of  improving joint mobility, extending muscle power, and promoting vitality.

Introduction: Ayurveda has mentioned many Kalpanas, one among them is Paniya Kalpana (medicated drinking  water). It comes under Upakalapana (derivative) of Kwatha (process of medicated liquid). It is regarded as the most  beneficial and potent because it is very easy to digest and readily absorbed by our bodies. Dosha (one which governs  and maintains the health), Dhatu (fundamental tissues that constitute the human body), and Mala (metabolic end  products) are the components of Sharira (human body), which is governed by Agni (digestive fire). In a healthy  state, Sharira (human body) maintains regular physiological functioning; when it is impaired, Sharira (human body)  results in various ailments. Shadangapaniya is a special formulation that controls all the aforementioned aspects.  Six herbs, including Musta, Parpataka, Ushira, Chandana, Udichya, and Nagara, make up the Shadangapaniya. Materials and methods: The classic Ayurveda literature, including the Charaka Samhita, Sushrutha Samhita,  Ashtanga Hridaya, and Bhavprakasha Niganthu books of Dravyaguna Vignana, and other Nighantus. Result and Discussion: Shadangapaniya not only acts on Jwara (fever) but also is useful in various conditions and  as well as on various systems. For example, we can give in Rakthapitta (bleeding conditions), Atisara (diarrhea and  dysentery), Ati sweda (excessive perspiration), and Trishna (thirst), which will be discussed with references from  classical textbooks. Conclusion: Maintaining the equilibrium state of Dosha (one which governs and maintains the health), Dhatu  (fundamental tissues that constitute the human body) Mala (metabolic end products), and Agni (digestive fire) is the  fundamental goal of all Ayurvedic treatments for ailments. Shadanga Paniya (medicated drinking water made up of  six herbs) is a distinctive and popular recipe that preserves the above-mentioned state of equilibrium.
它属于 Kwatha(药液加工)的 Upakalapana(衍生物)。 Dosha(支配和维持健康的物质)、Dhatu(构成人体的基本组织)和Mala(新陈代谢的最终产物)是Sharira(人体)的组成部分,由Agni(消化火)支配。 例如,我们可以在 Rakthapitta(出血状况)、Atisara(腹泻和痢疾)、Ati sweda(多汗)和 Trishna(口渴)中使用,并将参考经典教科书进行讨论。结论阿育吠陀疗法治疗疾病的基本目标是维持 Dosha(支配和维持健康的物质)、Dhatu(构成人体的基本组织)、Mala(代谢终产物)和 Agni(消化火)的平衡状态。Shadanga Paniya(由六种草药组成的药用饮用水)是一种独特而流行的配方,可保持上述平衡状态。

Background: According to Ayurveda, there are three pillars of life such as Ahara, Nidra, and Brahmacharya and  among them, Ayurveda gives more importance to Nidra (sleep). Sleep is an essential phenomenon for the maintenance  and restoration of both body and mind, and thus, Nidra is a precious gift by nature, which is directly connected with  the mental state. Keeping in view the importance of sleep, the present work aimed at comparing the efficacy of  Jatamansi churna versus Nirgundi taila padabhyanga with respect to Nidranasha. Materials and Methods: 40 numbers of patients were taken for the study and all patients were divided into two equal  groups, i.e., Group A and Group B. Group A consisted of 20 patients were treated with Jatamansi Churna internally  for 15 days. Group B consisted of 20 patients were treated with Jatamansi Churna internally and Nirgundi taila  Padabhyanga for 15 days. A comparison was done between Group A and Group B and the assessment was made  before and after treatment. Results: The better result was obtained in Group B in reducing the subjective and objective parameters of Nidranasha than Group A. Conclusion: It can be said that, internal application of it can be said that, internal application of Jatamansi Churna along with Nirgundi Tila Padabhyanga could be the effective tools for the management of Nidranasha along with  Nirgundi Tila Padabhyanga could be the effective tools for management of Nidranasha.
