Abstract Student Activity Information System (SAIS) was developed with the aims to efficiently record the applications of student’s activity at the Faculty of Business and Management (FBM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Selangor, Malaysia and to assist the administrator to manage the students’ activities effectively. By using different e-service quality dimensions, this study proposed a higher order factor of SAIS Service Quality with an attempt to determine a moderating effect of SAIS Service Convenience between the relationship of SAIS Service Quality and Student’s Satisfaction. Quantitative data was gathered from 94 SAIS users and the data were analyzed by using SmartPLS 3.0. The analysis result showed that SAIS Service Quality and SAIS Service Convenience were positively influenced the student’s satisfaction. Moreover, the result also revealed that the higher order factor of SAIS Service Convenience was not to moderate the relationship between the SAIS Service Quality and Student’s Satisfaction. From the Higher Education (HE) perspective, this study provides an empirical validation of the Information System Service Quality Model particularly in the context of SAIS. Hence, the improvement of the e-service quality is essential for future enhancement of existing information systems in the higher education institutions.

Abstract The pressure on businesses to engage not only on profitability but also on social and environmental responsibility has increased in recent times. The study empirically tested the relationship between green marketing orientation (GMO) and environmental and social performance in the context of firms in the hospitality industry. Sustainable performance measurement focuses not only on financial but also on social and environmental performance. The study used the quantitative research design, and the cross-sectional survey method was used for data collection from 192 respondents. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and regression analysis were used for data analysis. Cronbach’s alpha was used as a measure of reliability. The results indicated a significant positive relationship between GMO and environmental and social performance of hospitality firms. The findings of the study suggest that GMO is a firm-level strategic resource that can improve the sustainable performance of firms in the hospitality sector. Theoretically, the study linked GMO to environmental and social performance of firms. Empirically, the study adds to the literature on the effect of GMO on sustainable performance. Practically, the study suggested recommendations that can improve the adoption of GMO by firms. These include green design, green positioning, green supply chain, and green strategy.

Abstract The article deals with a way of standardizing project and program management methods in public administration, considering that they have been initiated by a number of administration units having a great autonomy, independently of the government strategy. To manage the government strategy, an original model of the unification process of managing projects and programs executed as part of the strategy and supported by a dedicated IT system has been specially developed and implemented. The essence of the presented approach is to replace the top-down forcing changes toward unifying the project management methodologies used by government administration units by stimulating interest in facilitation and benefits provided by the IT system and, as a result, also a willingness to join the system. Such voluntary joining the system is associated with voluntary adaptation of the previous locally applied management method to the methodology supported by the IT system.

Abstract The impact of structural changes as well as breaks on oil price fluctuations is studied in this article. There are a few channels, such as domestic prices and inflation, that cause the effect of oil price to pass through the economy. The higher crude oil price is immediately followed by the increase in oil products such as gasoline and heating oil. The direct effects continue as people choose alternative energy sources, leading to the increase in price. Besides, the indirect effect on inflation as a result of the behavioral responses of the firms and workers which is known as the “second round” effects in which higher wages is being demanded. This article uses exploratory data analysis to discover the patterns of the variables’ series and then examines the relationship between oil price and consumer price index. Multiple breakpoint test is thereafter used to identify the structural changes in time-varying variables.

Abstract Scientific and technical developments and progressive digitization in almost all areas of life have led to the development of a new type of digital customer, with specific requirements and expectations for suppliers of goods and services. Customers, in particular consumers, are one of the key groups of stakeholders who create the corporate reputation. Customers are first of all creators of the corporate reputation as an “offeror” and “supplier” of value to buyers, as well as co-creators of the company’s reputation as a market player, employer, business partner or citizen, because their purchase decisions determine the company’s ability to meet the expectations of other stakeholder groups, that is, investors, employees or business partners. Building and maintaining a good reputation requires proper identification and satisfaction of the needs of key stakeholder groups. The aim of the article is to identify the specific requirements and expectations of digital customers in the context of building and maintaining a good reputation of the company. The thesis is that the digital customer expects, first and foremost, reliability and personalization in their relations with the supplier.

Abstract This article guides the reader through the seemingly simple issues of the assessment, protec-tion and transfer of the potentials of an object’s functionality through its internal and external buffers, by employing Cartesian multiplication and signatures. The change in the potentials of buffers and the functionality of objects is the focus of this research, guaranteeing the correct use of potentials in relation to the whole “shell” of the object. In order to avoid any collision in the transport of functional potentials, each proper buffer is, by definition, connected to one and only one object. On the probability scale ∑ [0..1], the potential of the object’s functionality is expressed as the system sum [0..1] of all the potentials of its proper buffer components. A practical and important part of the article contains two methodologically important examples of tabular construction and analysis: an example of the dynamics of the potentials of an object with two buffers, together with a table of the potentials of a two-buffer object; and an example of the Cartesian product of graphs with lost determinism together with the table of potentials of a two-buffer object with an extensive option structure.

Abstract The objective of this article is to outline various drawbacks of the studies on technical efficiency of pro-innovation activities at a national level. A better awareness of existing constraints may assist the readers and reviewers of the relative reports in a more critical assessment of the presented results and help in planning the research. This article outlines several methodological problems faced with conducting research on the technical efficiency of innovations. On the basis of the review of the subject-related literature, as well as press releases, numerous restraints prevailing in the currently used research approaches are presented. Some of these precincts are evidenced in the used methods: other may be rooted in the non-scientifically related intentions of the authors. Frequently, observations may drive the audience to the incorrect conclusions and opinions. The awareness of the consequences of these limitations may serve as a warning about the reliability of the results, their applicability for crafting policies, and country-to-country comparisons. However, various limitations originate from the very nature of the theme. Several propositions are specified about items to be kept in mind in order to minimize the negative impact caused by existing drawbacks. These may serve as a guide to formulate research questions and hypotheses for verification in further studies. While each of the propositions stated independently may be labeled obvious, their simultaneous review many contribute to the streamlining further research and in the improvement of the quality of suggestions arrived at. The conclusions from the article may also pinpoint to these methodological issues that cause some of the publications on the subject to be of questionable value.

Abstract Business organizations often need to manage creative work. An important way of promoting creative work is to use idea generation techniques (IGTs). Numerous IGTs have been developed, and choosing from such a big pool of candidates can be demanding, which is further complicated by the elusiveness of the mechanisms of these IGTs. This study aims at developing a taxonomy for IGTs based on their underlying mechanisms of supporting ideation. First, the current literature for the classification of IGTs is reviewed. Then some related creativity theories are consulted and a new classification system is proposed based on these theories and previous studies. Eighty seven IGTs are classified according to the system. The implications for research and practice are discussed.

Abstract The process of receiving goods into the warehouse is the first stage of warehouse management. Correct receipt of fast-moving goods is the key element of the storage process as well as of the entire supply chain, which is why it is so important to avoid any disruptions at this stage. In order to identify and analyze the associated risk factors, two quality risk management methods were applied: a risk map and the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) method, whose goal was to determine the magnitude of individual risk factors. The presented findings indicate which risk factors are the most hazardous to the goods receipt process. A correlation was found to exist for the value of goods as well as the continuity of the consequences entailed by the occurrence of a specific factor. The article presents preventive mechanisms as a risk management tool.

Abstract The article presents the problem of a decision-making process based on the method known as the analysis of interconnected decision areas (AIDA). Author described the basic assumptions of the AIDA method and the classic method of its implementation with the usage of a decision tree. Crucially, the new and innovative improvement in development of the AIDA method is connected with the replacement of the decision tree by the matrix equation to speed up the cost assessment of decision variants.
