CubeSat compatible Fiber-Optic Gyroscope CubeSat兼容光纤陀螺仪

We report the design, construction, and test of a compact fiber-optic gyroscope (FOG) for cost-effective low-earth-orbit CubeSat applications. This medium-grade FOG is developed by the integration of a miniaturized (16-mm long) multifunction integrated optic circuit and a streamlined feedback electric-optical control logic module. The whole structure layout of the FOG has been carefully designed and optimized to effectively reduce the weight of the unit in a 1U (10x10x10 cm3) space.

We demonstrate a visible-light-communication (VLC) system using quadrature-color red/green/blue/violet (RGBV) laser-diodes (LDs). A recorded transmission capacity of 26.228-Gbit/s is achieved with free-space-transmission distance of 2-m.

We propose a two-stage pipelined parallel matching scheduler for alleviated scheduling time constraint. TPPM with pGA provides ~100% throughput and maximum ~42% less queuing delay when offered load is above 0.6 than single DRRM scheduler.

We demonstrate an ultra-compact polymer wave-length (de)multiplexer also function as interposer between Si and optical fiber using gradient-based topology optimization and downhill simplex method with an excess waveguide propagation loss of of 0.84 dB and 1.06 dB at 1310 nm and 1550 nm, respectively.

We propose and demonstrate a high-resolution frequency-domain equalization scheme for dual-polarization optical IQ modulator, where time-interleaved optical multitone signals are generated and successfully demodulated. We verify the effectiveness of the scheme in 4/16/64-QAM signal generation.

In this work, we have demonstrated the dual-beam method for polarization and time-resolved fluorescence detection. Notably, we have realized fluorescence lifetime and polarization-resolve stimulated emission (SE) imaging. This technique is cost-effective and robust.

Investigation on Smart Cushion Based on SFS Structure and its Application in Physiological and Activity Monitoring 基于SFS结构的智能坐垫及其在生理活动监测中的应用研究

A smart cushion based on SFS (single-mode-few-mode-single-mode) structure is proposed and experimentally demonstrated, which can be applied in physiological and activity states monitoring simultaneously. The sensing unit embedded in a common cushion is designed as a sandwich structure, consisting of a piece of fiberglass mesh, a SFS structure layer and a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) layer thus the sensitivity can be significantly enhanced. With off-line processing and analyzing of the raw signals collected from the cushion system, the heartbeat rate (HR) and respiratory rate (RR) can be obtained with the maximum error of 1 bpm and the activity states on the cushion can be clearly distinguished within the accuracy of one second. Such a smart cushion has the advantages of low cost, compact structure and high comfort, especially suitable for office workers and the elderly in nursing homes.
