This paper aims to analyse the gender-biased consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic in Turkey through the views of working women and men who have experienced changes in their routines during the outbreak. Within this context, in-depth interviews were conducted with 216 participants, and they were asked to reply to the Masculine and Feminine Gender Role Stress Scale. As a result, gender-based discrimination has reinforced during the pandemic and inequalities have deepened. It is thought that the social impact of the pandemic was felt both by women and men, but more in women, and that these women lost some of the gains they had until the pandemic in the context of gender equality.

Based on social representations theory, the paper focuses on the communication of attitudes towards childless women in politics in one of the Internet news sites. One article case was selected, and a qualitative content analysis of comments (365) was conducted. The article and the content of comments were on childless women in politics. The predominant hegemonic social representation is most commonly reflected via an argument that childless women lack practical experience; therefore, they could not represent the interests of families with children. The chosen method allows expressing more radical and aggressive attitudes towards childless women roles. The polemic social representation opposes hegemonic attitudes through the arguments breaking the interlink between female procreation role and their role in the public sphere, also through the critique of double standards. Finally, emancipatory social representation undertakes the neutral position, emphasising the freedom of choice. Thematic anchoring is the most common communicative mechanism in all three types of social representations.

The paper argues that understanding the apparent failure of new democracies in establishing transparency as a norm requires a look at how the meaning of transparency is constructed. The argument is illustrated by analysing how local government transparency is shaped in a multi-actor process, under the influence of international policy discourse and domestic factors. Directed qualitative analysis (N = 144) was applied on documents issued by the central government, local governments and third sector organisations. The aspects of this process – sometimes not so positive effects of external pressure, the emphasis on standardisation, and the limited policy capacity of all actors – are identified as relevant to the establishment of transparency as a norm.

There is contradictory scientific information on the role of employees’ gender in the relationship between the perceived dedication-to-work promoting organisation and workaholism. Some authors state that dedication-to-work promoting organisations foster males’ workaholism. Whereas the other authors assert that when working in such organisations, the risk of workaholism is higher for female employees. Contradictory results and a lack of scientific information do not allow us to formulate definitive conclusions. The questions about the development of workaholism among males and females in dedication-to-work promoting organisations remain unanswered. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the role of the employees’ gender for the relationship between the perceived dedication-to-work promoting organisation and workaholism. A survey that involved 964 employees (514 females and 450 males) working in different Lithuanian organisations was conducted in February–April 2021. A workaholism scale (DUWAS-10) proposed by W. B. Schaufeli et al. (2009) was used to assess workaholism. A questionnaire proposed by T. D. Allen (2001) was used to assess the perceptions of whether an organisation encourages employees to focus solely on work or whether it supports their family responsibilities as well. It was hypothesised that a positive relationship between the perceived dedication-to-work promoting organisation and workaholism was stronger for women. This assumption was confirmed. The results of the study propose that employees’ gender is the personal characteristic that determines how a person perceives the work environment and responds to the pressure to devote all the energy and time to work.
一份由t.d.

The article discusses how a therapeutic narrative is constructed in the life stories of selfhelp teachers in Lithuania. In-depth interviews with the members of the study group revealed that a prevalent structure of the narrative of this group could be discerned and identified as therapeutic narrative. It adapts the perspective of Western therapeutic culture and modifies it by introducing the dichotomy of ‘true’ and ‘false’ desire for self-transformation. The causes of personal misery are here explained by the prevailing emotional culture specific to Lithuania. This culture is characterised here by general fear, mistrust, insecurity, and the stigmatisation of the display of positive emotions as consequences of the experienced cultural trauma and anomie in the Lithuanian society.

The article analyses the possibilities of countries of origin to attract and use (re)migrants’ social remittances – ideas, values, skills, behaviours and practices. Examining the case of Lithuania, the ecosystem of attracting and using social remittances in the country of origin is revealed: the interest of the country of origin, the network of actors, the measures/ incentives to attract and the readiness/obstacles to use (re)migrants’ social remittances. Not only the role of public authorities is highlighted, but also the work of municipalities and non-governmental organisations in attracting and using social remittances from (re)migrants.

The article analyses the future of education from the perspective of educational philosophy. First, the new peculiarities of the age are discussed, especially the philosophy that made a turn towards posthumanism and the new materialism, setting new goals for education. Then a public discourse study is presented – how the Lithuanian press (the main news portals) responds to the new challenges and sees the future of the Lithuanian school. And finally, the article reflects where the thoughts raised by public discourse lead and how far they reach compared to the new philosophy and challenges for the future.

The paper analyses and interprets Western radical left-wing scholars’ view on communism from the three dimensions of Ego, Other and the World in the modern philosophical context. The purpose of the research is to compare and reconstruct the three scientific categories of relations represented by communism, namely, the logical dialectical relations of Ego domain, Other domain and the World domain. The theoretical reconstruction and contextual analysis of Jacques Lacan and Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalysis, as well as numerous researchers of their work are used. The methodological basis of this research is a philosophical reconstruction and deductive speculation, inductive speculation and insight speculation approach. It is shown that the radical left scholars reexamine the evolution of communism from three basic categories: imaginary domain, symbolic domain and real domain. Furthermore, they reconsider the construction of communism through the study of the interrelations among Ego, Other and the World. Simultaneously, they also excavate the structural contradiction of contemporary capitalism and criticise its deficiencies. The weaknesses of the argument about these relations are shown by reconstructing this upward spiral relations, which can be considered an ideal model of domain structure in ‘The Neo-Communist domain’. On the basis of this claim, it is shown that these three types of domain structures may well coexist at least in ideal society, thus mankind should adhere to Marx’s dialectical materialism to consider problems. The scientific significance of the research is justifying that the philosophical reconstruction does not only enrich Marxist communist ideology and is of great practical significance for Socialist countries to reshape the ideals and beliefs of Marxism, but also stick to the development of Marxism and to expand the research horizon of communism. Nevertheless, the communist thought of western radical left scholars still has the dilemma of separating theory from practice and failing to transform theoretical communism into combatant communism.

The issue of identity has been a key philosophical topic among philosophers since the beginning of the 21th century. The Virtual space and the Internet have exerted an enormous influence on people’s life in the age of information. This article studies the influence of virtual space on identity in the Internet age from the philosophical perspective. The authors think that growth of the influence of computers and network technology on human beings has been a progressive and multi-staged process. Synthesising and analysing the achievements of related research both in China and abroad, it is clear that computers’ relationship with human beings has gone through three stages: the first in which the computer was like a tool, the second in which it was like a mirror, and the third in which it is like a gateway or maze, that is, the virtue reality and space. Focusing only on the relations between virtual space and identity ‘on the ground’, the article proposes that the following two guidelines may aid future inquiry. First, discussing and thinking about the issue of identity from the perspective of relations between virtual space and identity can deepen our understanding of the constituent elements of contemporary identity. Second, the discussion of identity in its relation to virtual space can spur more considerations of the ‘self’ qua critical concept.

Moral heuristics are methods that serve the purpose of reducing the effort associated with moral desion making. The purpose of this article is to create a prescriptive model of moral heuristics usage. It provides that the heuristic’s efficiency depends on the problem that we are solving by using heuristics, the environment in which they are used, and the moral standard of the decision-maker. Accordingly, for the effective use of heuristics, it is necessary to, first, use heuristics that are relevant to problem situations; second, heuristics should be used in the environment in which their effectiveness is established; third, the choice of heuristics should be determined by the moral standard of the decision-maker.
