Abstract: Faith community nurses are positioned to play a vital role in addressing whole person health in multiple settings. A steady decline of nurses completing faith community nurse (FCN) training in a midwestern healthcare system sparked the system's hospital leadership to re-evaluate the FCN training and outreach program. To inform future education programs, an online needs assessment survey was deployed to FCNs. Focus groups were used to understand the FCNs' experiences in their role. The findings highlight a need for comprehensive educational programs, support networks, and funding mechanisms to support faith community nursing practice.

Abstract: Although a diverse healthcare workforce has been linked to improved care quality and cost savings, the U.S. nursing workforce does not mirror the population of underrepresented minority (URM) groups in the country. Holistic admissions review (HAR) is an innovative process that can increase the number of URM students entering nursing education programs. In addition to using traditional grade point average and entrance test scores for admissions criteria, HAR considers non-academic attributes such as personal qualities and life experiences. Nursing schools that adopt HAR can help diversify the nursing workforce. Lebacqz's (1987) Six Theories of Justice can aid Christian nurse educators in evaluating and advocating for HAR.

Abstract: The integration of Scripture in learning is an important focal element for education at Christian universities. A team of health professions faculty members from four universities belonging to the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities designed, developed, and facilitated a 9-week Scriptural Integration course for health professions faculty teaching at Christian universities. Participants completed the fully online asynchronous course, then completed a post-course survey. Survey responses help reveal what Christian university health professions faculty find useful and applicable in the integration of Scripture in learning.
