Abstract: Nurses who anticipate and plan for retirement have multiple options and opportunities. Financial planning, healthcare insurance considerations, and productive use of time are significant components toward a satisfying post-career life. Wisdom from the Bible provides great insight for nurses considering retirement.
Abstract: Nursing school is a highly stressful experience for most nursing students. The COVID-19 pandemic intensified stress levels for undergraduate students with serious impacts on mental health. Faculty acted to provide solutions such as debriefings and fostering safe places inside and outside of class where students could release negative emotions and develop positive coping skills. The integration of faith and the caring outreach by the faculty also strengthened students' emotional, mental, and spiritual health.
Abstract: Involvement in short-term missions experiences can be most beneficial when intentional personal and group preparation takes place. Learning about the people and history of the destination, identifying one's purpose in making the trip, asking God for direction and affirmation, meditation on Scripture, and prayer for oneself and for those who will be on the receiving end of care or ministry are wise. Willingness to take a servant's mindset and to give time and goods from a biblical perspective shows respect for those to be served.
Abstract: Nurses in education, especially at smaller universities, may not be socialized or mentored in ways that would support seeking promotion in academia. Barriers and questions about the promotion process and recommendations about frequently asked questions are given in this article, along with biblical encouragement. Seeking promotion to a higher academic rank can bring enhanced credibility with which to serve God and can be an opportunity to improve one's character and ability to glorify God.
Abstract: Interprofessional collaboration is an essential competency for nurses in today's complex healthcare environment. The Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) four competencies of values, teamwork, roles, and communication provide the organizing framework for effective interprofessional collaboration. In this article, the four competencies are used to explore biblical underpinnings and principles of collaboration for Christian nurses, showing how interprofessional collaboration helps achieve one's faith-based and professional commitments.
