Abstract: The attribution of self-blame for a negative physical health outcome can lead to further deterioration of one's mental and spiritual state. Using Walker and Avant's eight-step model for concept analysis, self-blame attribution is explored following the diagnosis of a human papillomavirus-related cancer in women. Conceptual case examples provide application of the concept to patient situations. Spiritual assessment tools for nurses caring for those who evidence self-blame are provided.

Abstract: A North American nurse confronted her ongoing resistance about living in the Middle East and later India. Through studying the Bible and praying, the author overcame her reluctance as she worked as a school nurse on the Arabian Peninsula, faced breast cancer, and later embraced the opportunity to provide nursing care to sex-trafficked women in a brothel. In each setting, the author experienced God's supernatural work of changing her attitude and enabling her to express her faith in Christ to those whom she served and lived among.

Abstract: In preparation for a curriculum revision, a cross-sectional, descriptive mixed-method research study sought to describe senior-level students' perspectives of Mercy and Jesuit faith-based tradition values integration in a pre-licensure BSN program. Integration of values was examined in both clinical settings and didactic classes. Students strongly articulated the importance of the school's values and mission to their future role as professional nurses. However, although value integration is occurring, greater attention to mission and values is needed in the clinical area.

Abstract: Faith community nurses can reduce loneliness and provide connection for homebound members of faith communities through promotion of letter writing. Undergraduate nursing students who were matched with members of their own faith community wrote letters to older adults for 10 weeks as a community service-learning project. Data from the UCLA Loneliness Scale pre- and post-intervention showed reduced loneliness and greater connection among recipients of the letters.

Abstract: Research supports the use of animal-assisted interactions and pet therapy in various settings. Undergraduate nursing students experience high levels of stress and anxiety which often continue as they become professional nurses. Entering the workforce equipped with positive coping strategies may help newly licensed nurses to combat stressors. This qualitative descriptive study examined the experiences of undergraduate nursing students with the presence of a therapy dog. Four major themes regarding the role of therapy dogs were identified: as a coping strategy, as a mood moderator, as a positive distraction, and for community building.
