A relevant story for the corporate world to wake up and take notice. Adapting to the ever changing realities of the workplace is something that is no more of tertiary importance. Past decades, post-industrialisation and pre-ICE revolution, have shown us numerous instances of organisations collapsing under the cloudbursts of change, irrespective of the size and sector. The writing on the wall is undoubtedly clear; success that breeds complacency is bound to kill. Life cycle deaths are a reality unless checked at the appropriate time and treated accordingly. The author has charted the entire book into three broad parts. The initial part is a narration on the historical aspects of SAIL. The second part deals with the period of skirmishes with change and the turmoils of the period associated with change. The final part delves on the post-change phase, the decline after the year 1996. With all the limitations of working on studies in such mammoth organisations, the author has made excellent use of the available data to structure it into a learning experience on ’change’ for students, researchers and teachers.

The paper presents two case studies ofbusiness entrepreneurs in a rural and densely populated area of Indonesia. Findings are discussed against the background of theories on involution, innovative milieus and industrial clusters. The paper argues for taking an actor's point of view in analysing contexts for entrepreneurship. Proximity and close neighbourhood relations count for a potential easy spread of information and new business ideas, while the fear of knowledge leakage and spillover effects from business innovations is seen as factors that hinder the learning dynamics and thereby put a limit to social welfare gains. Local entrepreneurs are seen avoiding sharing of information due to the fear of imitation by competitors. The conclusion recommends that neighbouring university institutions be utilised for professional business services. There is a need for improved access to market information particularly for the rural small-scale enterprises.

Bridging the Gap: Conceptual Paradigms and Training for Entrepreneurship Development 弥合差距:创业发展的概念范例和培训

Indian experiences have demonstrated that a well-conceived training inter vention could augment entrepreneurship. Garnished by the nuances of the newly developed conceptual paradigms perceived in a contextual setting, an intervention that is well conceived improves the sustainability as well as the growth potential of enterprises. The author makes an attempt through a conceptual review of the literary contributions to draw useful insights, which are likely to serve as inputs to design entrepreneurship training. The paper sets out that clarity on concepts like risk perception could help trainers evolve appropriate inputs and implement the same. This indicative research draws attention beyond just satisfying the research zeal. It calls upon the need to disseminate research findings to benefit training. The paper argues that updating of concepts is a necessary condition for increasing the effective ness of training and puts a caution to trainers against possible dilutions.

Intrapreneurship: Assessing and Defining Attributes of Intrapreneurs 内部创业:评估和定义内部创业者的属性

Using a sample of 101 managers, an attempt is made to assess and validate the Intrapreneurship Scale developed by Lessem way back in 1988. This scale comprised seven conceptually defined dimensions, namely, adventurer, innovator, designer (enabler), leader, entrepreneur, change agent and animateur. The study concluded that the alpha coefficients at the item level as well as the overall alpha and split half reliabilities establish the relevance and usefulness of four out of seven dimensions. These are adventurer, innov ator, entrepreneur and animateur. However, the other three dimensions, i.e., designer, leader and change agent subscales showed relatively poor consist ency estimates. In the context of all future researches, the authors suggest that there is a need to assess more extensively the intrinsic properties of the Intrapreneurship Scale using the interval level measurement more than the ordinal level measurement.

India being a peninsula and endowed with plentiful inland water resources has a large variety of fish stocks. Commercial exploitation of Indian fishery began only in the 1970s. The impetus came primarily from the growing importance of shrimp in the export market. All attention was focused on developing shrimp fishery. India soon emerged as the leading exporter of shrimp. In the following years, the Indian seafood industry became predominantly shrimp-oriented. Not much attempt has been made to diversify the industry nor there was any attempt to create a domestic base for the seafood export industry, which would have enabled them to withstand shocks coming from the vagaries of world I market, which is major cause of present-day crisis of the industry. The high pressure on shrimp’ fisheries has caused overfishing of oceanic resources, which made the industry turn towards aquaculture. Unfortunately, aquaculture in India became synonymous with shrimp culture. There is an urgent need to come out of this shrimp orientation and broadbase itself by diversifying to other fisheries. The study undertaken finds that an optimal marketing strategy for India, with focus on strengthening the marketing of fish in fresh, chilled and frozen form while keeping the specialty fish market in prepared and preserved form for high net worth companies with the necessary managerial and technical skills is desirable. However, this advantage is not exploited due to lack of technical and financial power to process, pre-

During the turbulent times, organisation finds new ways to manage businesses. In this exercise, developing and managing human resources forms the major component of organisational development and in this exercise, the only constant thing that is visible today in all walks of life is CHANGE. Change has changed almost all in various ways of life. The unappreciable challenges and uncertainty been faced by the organisation in the present century requires a whole relook at how human resources is managed and taken care of in the organisation. There is a perpetual question for every person as to ’where now from here’, and it has been the great endeavour for every management thinker to find an answer for this. An entire paradigm shift from vibrarian type of management to people-centric organisation, where people are considered, as the most important asset of the organisation has been the prime concern of most management. Entrepreneurial Success and Risk Perception among Small-scale Entrepreneurs of Eastern India 东印度小型企业家的创业成功与风险认知

The paper is based on empirical research done on industrial units which are often categorised under the small-scale sector. The paper makes an attempt to explain the relationship that exists among various socio-economic variables with different success levels among the enterprises. The findings reveal that there are associations between the success levels of an enterprise with factors like technical education of the entrepreneur, occupational background of parents, previous background of the entrepreneur and capability to arrange working capital. The paper also brings out the entrepreneur's perception of risk namely, the functional risk and business risk. It makes an attempt to learn about the hindrances encountered by the entrepreneur. This research conducted in four Indian states thereby establishes the necessary interventions one could do to strengthen the small-scale sector which according to the author has both an economic as well as a social advantage over other sectors.
